This has been bugging me. Trump is all about stopping the PC from running rampant right? So Cruz says something about "New York values" and trump gets offended and uses 9/11 as a counter.. Everyone knows wtf "New York values" means and it has nothing to due with the way Trump used 9/11 to counter it with. And it still worked! Hilarious! I'm also getting a bit tired of people invoking 9/11, they are making it start to lose meaning and that is not a good thing. Cant tell if I'm overwhelmed with a sense of patriotism and anger at the unresponsiveness of the US government or its the Frito chili & jalapeño burger burning a hole in my stomach. Offline

Considering how he butchered Transformers & TMNT it is probably the burger...
It wasn't bad. I liked the movie. Maybe parts were done over the top but if the events based off the book and all that stuff is true~ its pretty amazing how they held their ground

The "hard core, evil Republicans" on this website are much closer to the center than the obvious liberals here, who are so far to the left that they make Stalin look sane. The only NY value I know of is "If you can make it in NY you can make it anywhere. If you can't make it in NY try LA." Offline

My family has always been into politics and the term New York Values is meant of coarse as an insult and has been around since the 90s. This is actually kind of interesting, I have been looking around the internet and nobody seems to have a set definition for it and pretty much everyone thinks the term came after 9/11. Which it is kind of hard to get away from that aspect since the internet is now filled with the news of this whole fiasco.
Another interesting thing, if you are from New York you are blind of this term all together.. Kinda funny.. Anyways.. From what I can put into words a loose description of New York Values would be something like. Thinking you are better than everyone else, arrogant, and snoody with liberal overtones.. Which, obviously Trump is. And apparently invoking 9/11 whenever you're attacked is a new York value too. I have always gotten this vibe off of Trump and that is probably why I don't like him. That being said not all New Yorkers are like this. The City is so large and diverse no term can describe the entire population. Kinda like I'm from Michigan and saying I have to take anything said about Detroit personally.. I don't.. Edit: Mistakenly, I think I hit upon another New York value.. Getting offended when anything bad is said about New Yorkers. volkom said: » Saw 13 Hours ~ the Michael Bay movie about Benghazi. After seeing 'American Sniper' and seeing this plugged, I really have to wonder why isn't there a movie about Pat Tillman? Short memories some folks in the US have. Some very, inexcusably short memories. EDIT: Not directed at you, Volk. You were a Freshman or Sophomore in HS then. Offline

Comparing him to several people being left to die by our government and a sniper claiming 255 kills (160 confirmed) has nothing to do with US attention span... Both seem to be fairly accurate none the less.

This classic New Yorker cover is fairly accurate about that provincialism I mentioned: Edit: I have known many consertive New Yorkers, as to what I mentioned they are pretty much the same as the liberal ones. The rich ones tend to be the snooty ones. Again liberal or consertive. Offline

Again liberal or consertive. Yeah, its a fairly broad term. Just more New Yorkers tend to be liberal rather than conservative(which is why it was considered to be an insult to Trump in the first place). Trump fits the term rather well which makes this whole thing ridiculous. Trump is claiming to be a conservative, which is fine. Everyone has different views on conservatism. I'd say Trump has a New York Values view about his brand of conservatism. It's like Chaos and I we have pretty much the same views according to that quiz. But he is a liberal pacifist! I don't hold that against him and agree with the other 99% of things we have in common.. Still though he is now an evil liberal and should be sad about it. The two previous mayors of New York:
Rudy Giuliani, pretty much an arch consertive. Michael Bloomberg, fairly typical consertive save on a few social points. Elected by all those New York liberals I suppose?
