I see this shithole hasn't changed since I've been out of the country. Great on ya for supplying threads that most people don't care to even reply to. I mean it's not like most don't just turn on the TV for the news right?

Yep need Huff Post in my life. I have no purpose without it.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/victoria-erickson/i-like-this-picture-of-my-cellulite_b_5474053.html?utm_hp_ref=women&ir=Women That's right. I decided that I love this honest and flawed picture so much so that I am going to embrace it, celebrate it and yes, share it. Because I decided I would fight my demon and embody it because I didn't -- and don't -- have the time or energy to let it wear and tear me down anymore. Because it's not important. And more so, because I hope when you look at yourself, whether in reflection or spirit, you do the same. Because we're better than that. And because it's actually OK to look at a photo and say yes, "I like this picture of my cellulite." Valefor.Tsurara said: » I see this shithole hasn't changed since I've been out of the country. Besides this site loves it's news feeds, but for some reason it's like the whole thing about train wrecks. Any good thread barely gets any attention, whereas these ones people can't help but look and post. I blame the public school system in America. Offline

I feel oddly naked without fake eyelashes. I have deep-fried, bleach blonde hair. You probably won't ever see me without the thickest cat eye and the reddest lipstick on anytime soon. I wear mini skirts, and consider fishnets appropriate workplace attire. And I'm a feminist. Lisa Marie Hyder (left) and Gregory Scott Hale (right) A Tennessee man who is accused of killing and eating a woman left a disturbing trail on social media prior to the alleged murder. Gregory Scott Hale, who lives with his parents in rural Coffee County, Tennessee, was arrested at his residence after police said they learned Sunday he was looking for help disposing of a body, according to the Times Free Press. Authorities say Hale, 37, admitted to killing Lisa Marie Hyder, who he allegedly met in Manchester the day she was killed. He also said he'd eaten pieces of the 36-year-old woman's body after her death, according to police. In disturbing social media posts, Hale had joked about cannibalism and praised serial killer Richard Ramirez, the Night Stalker. "If someone were to become a cannibal and eat a vegetarian, would the vegetarian taste like that fake soy meat?" Hale wrote on Facebook, according to WSMV. In a tribute to Ramirez back in February, Hale wrote that he wished he could have met the infamous serial killer and rapist, who died in 2013. WSMV also learned that Hale once worked at a meat processing plant, and that "sources who knew him say Hale would take home bones, blood and eyeballs of animals from the plant." According to the station, neighbors called Hale "sick" and a "devil worshipper." Police said they caught Hale attempting to dispose of a woman's torso in a burn pile on the property. According to CNN, the victim's head, hands and feet had been chopped off. Officers said they found two buckets filled with human remains at the house. "Lisa was a sweet girl, very pretty girl. I can't believe anyone would want to do that to her," Vicki Keenan, the victim's friend, told WSMV. Hale has been charged with first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse, and is being held on $1.5 million bond. He is due in court June 23. Offline

Not Huff Post but might as well be: http://jezebel.com/making-female-characters-is-too-hard-says-assassins-cr-1589392607
TLDR Women are mad that a "virtual character" is a man and not a woman. Quote: It's hard to choose a favorite Clinton, but when one of them steps out in a pair of "leather" pants, it's safe to say that they're our number one for the day. The Clinton family attended the 2014 Wildlife Conservation Society Gala on Thursday, but it was a pregnant and glowing Chelsea who wowed us. She looked gorgeous in a head-to-toe black ensemble, complete with a pair of -- wait for it -- faux leather pants. Chelsea has not always been what we could call a star in the style world. But recently, and even more since announcing she was pregnant, we've looked forward to watching her, and her maternity style, grow. Offline

While many women (and men) proudly call themselves fat, the fact remains that it's is a word with negative connotations. It's associated with laziness, lack of hygiene, stupidity and more. Fat is still used as an insult -- which is why I don't think it's acceptable to shame someone for not wanting to be fat-shamed. When "Fargo" actress Allison Tolman responded to Twitter haters who made jabs about her weight by stating that she wasn't "actually fat" and had just been wearing a parka coat for several weeks, some people took issue with it. Anna Breslaw at Cosmopolitan.com wrote, under the headline "Female Celebrities Who Insist They're Not Fat Are Part of the Problem": "It's absolutely true that the norm for women on TV is a size 0, but this problem of actresses asserting ownership over their bodies by replying that they're actually average rather than fat, as if being fat were the kiss of death, is hardly new." Firstly, I don't think Tolman is fat by any means. Images of her on the Internet suggest that she is an average-sized woman. That point aside, I understand Breslaw's argument insofar as the word fat shouldn't be an insult -- because we shouldn't treat women differently because of their size. But we do. If fat weren't an insult, women who identify as such would likely not have a problem saying so. If referring to someone as fat were the same as referring to someone as a brunette or tall or freckled, a woman's refusal to describe herself as such would be weird. But, collectively, we're not there yet. The word "fat" has power because the word "fat" has consequences. People have been fired for being fat. Dumped. Divorced. Publicly shamed. While it's within someone's power to control how they react to being called the f-word, there is no shame in being hurt by an insult. What needs to change is how our culture values people of different weights. Don't shame someone for feeling ashamed. Offline

So apparently fat shaming is soon to be a hate crime. Freedom of speech be damned. You aren't allowed to hurt people's feelings.
Fone, your posts on fat reminded me of something.
By today's standards Marlyn would be considered fat. Offline

I guess I thought people are judged more out of character and honesty and less on how they look. I know that in reality that is not true but I would like to think that being fat is the least of our worries. Instead of constantly comparing yourself to what society thinks is the "ideal" weight set your own goals for what you would like to look like.
I want to look like I did when I was 28.
I don't think I could manage that with a personal trainer and unlimited funds for plastic surgery. As to weight? I have been trying to get back into 12s for decades now.... Quote: President Barack Obama slammed pundits and members of Congress who refuse to confront climate change in drought-stricken California on Saturday, calling them a “fairly serious threat to everybody’s future." Speaking to University of California, Irvine graduates in Anaheim, Obama said lawmakers were failing to uphold the responsibilities of their office by not taking bold action to curb the harmful effects of carbon emissions. “Today’s Congress, though, is full of folks who stubbornly and automatically reject the scientific evidence about climate change,” he said. “They’ll tell you it’s a hoax, or a fad.” He criticized those who ducked the issue by claiming they weren't qualified enough to speak on the matter, like House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and Florida Gov. Rick Scott (R). “Let me translate," he said. "What that means is, ‘I accept that manmade climate change is real, but if I admit it, I’ll be run out of town by a radical fringe that thinks climate science is a liberal plot.'" "I'm not a scientist either, but we've got some good ones at NASA," he added. I clicked this thread thinking it would be about Arianna Huffington. I'm somewhat disappointed!

Seeing 60~70% of people in the USA are overweight and over 30% as so overweight as to cause health problems, "average" is fat. The fat people try to redefine the word and shift blame to someone else but it's not working. To be fat requires being lazy or rather eating more then their body's need for homeostasis. It can be remedied by careful portion control and 30~60 minutes of mild exercise every day. I think you quoted the wrong post there in your hatred.
There is no spoon.

Altimaomega said: » The problem with the gun debate is that no one has actually gone and claimed 'guns kill people' in pretty much forever, but one side still likes to pretend that that's the actual argument. The actual debate is about who should be allowed access to guns. That's not really a debate though.
We probably all agree on who shouldn't have weapons, just how to go about not letting those persons have them is still in the air, as nobody will come up with a viable solution that doesn't infringe on others' rights.
Who shouldn't have guns?
