Projecting another argument.

You should really check that.

That you can't see they're related is just another part of the problem.

It's okay. You've got plenty of company, I'm sure you'll do just fine anyhow.

Well I heard big money has come out against this law, so it'll go away soon enough. I think we can stop caring about it now.

My question is, how can a person say he/she won't serve gays specifically because they're gay, and in the very next sentence say they don't have anything against gay people?

Please reread. It isn't not refusing to serving folks because they are gay. I'd let anyone buy my pastries or what not. But I won't involve myself in an event (by supplying a "wedding cake") that directly contravenes my deeply held religious beliefs.
One is general commerce. The other is a direct contribution/involvement in an activity I hold sinful.
There is a difference, if you'd open your closed mind enough to see it.
Would you serve people that have already been divorced once and are getting remarried? Those that engaged in premarital sexual intercourse?

The problem here is it always seems that these stances all take a stop at gay marriage and nothing else.

I always wonder what people will say to god when god asks about how they treated their fellow man.

They aren't bound to live by anyone elses standards but their own. There's no book of government "approved" religious beliefs.

Yeah, see, the problem is, you had that thought in the first place.

Then again, sometimes you're joking, sometimes you're entirely serious, and sometimes you're hiding your serious sentiments behind jokes to make them come off as softer.

It can be hard to tease the three apart sometimes. -.-;

A rare triple entendre !

It will never cease to amaze me how people rally around hate.

And it will never cease to amaze me that the people frothing at the mouths on the other side of the fence don't realize that hate is the very thing they're using as a weapon against it.
While I will admit some people do take it too far but fighting against an unjust action is not using hate as a weapon against it.

This country is not made only for the religious and should not be governed as such. It does not infringe upon a persons personal beleifs. I don't get how serving at a wedding is any different than serving them in general either. Do you draw the line when you see a gay married couple walk into your establishment? The whole thing seems ridiculous anyways.

I'm sure that if there was a gofundme page asking for legal fees to sue that pizza place for discrimination, you would fund it because you hate straight people who wants to stick it against poor, innocent gay people.

See how that works?

Not making that argument, but trying to show the hypocrisy you are portraying.

So it's just bigotry then? You pick and choose the religious laws you wish to follow? Which ones are too sinful and which ones aren't?

If that is the case wouldn't that kinda make the whole religious argument moot?

So using death threats is perfectly acceptable as long as the cause is just? Shitting on this family in fact such a cause?

The only way this works is that everyone has a right to refuse service per if it violates their beliefs.

This has been one of my biggest gripes with religion for years, one shared by several very religious people I know. You don't get to claim to follow Jesus, but only certain parts of what he said because this group of people is icky to you.

Hate straight people that want to stick it to poor innocent gay people? lol...

That's not how it works in any case and that's a silly example. There are no grounds for a discrimination suit at this point anyways.

I don't get why you guys have a problem with this anyways. If a company came out and said it was pro abortion and then people who were anti-abortion came out and said they no longer wish to support this business publicly or posted on Yelp would you have an issue with it?

Personally I don't really care whether or nto people refuse service and the outcome of that is on them. Public opinion is preety powerful and if I choose not to frequent an establishment because of their business practices then I don't see a problem with that either or making other people aware of why I don't.

The bigger issue though is the slippery slope that this could lead to. Can a power company refuse to provide electricity because they don't support a certain lifestyle? Can a grocery store? Can anyone for whatever reason and just cite religion?

Did you not read my post? Or are you like politicians who like to ignore the whole to focus on the most outrageous action and then double down on that?

No death threats are not ok. According to you though they should be as long as there are no actions taken. I mean wasn't it you yesterday that was talking about how all speech is protected? You can spew hateful speech but appearantly if its against your cause then you like to play the victim lol... Talk about hypocrisy.

Not really. On a personal level for sure. On a national or state level it's less subjective. We may not all agree on everything but there is a collective understanding. That's why we elect representatives and create laws to be governed by.

Nope. If the business was shut down due to intimidation and threats sparked by a sensationalist, cherry-picking media, then I would be in full support of the company, though. I condemn such tactics when they're coming from my side of the fence too. It's a novel idea, you guys should try it sometime.
