Why is Andrew Jackson still on the 20. Guy was an *** and should be replaced alongside Ben Franklin. Dude wasn't even a president.
They did it to Jackson to mock him. Franklin, because...

I vaguely remember that but it still makes no sense for a monster like Andrew Jackson to be on arguably the most popularly used currency in the country for the sake of a running joke. Thomas Jefferson being on the defunct 2 dollar bill is more entertaining than that.

Jackson doesn't deserve the honor. It's like JFK being on the half-dollar but who actually uses half dollars.
Most people in power do things just for the lulz.

Minus emergency rooms, many medical centers and clinics turn patients away without health insurance now. From a public health standpoint it's incredibly stupid. Yay for Obamacare!

Do you have a ballpark for that figure?

10s? 100s? 1000s? 10,000s? More?

They just won't provide you service.

Ok so right now Los Angeles county is experiencing a meningitis outbreak. Before Obamacare the vaccines would have been free for the general public at all clinics, including those not directly operated by county.

Since Obamacare went into full effect only county clinics are giving the vaccine away free. All other clinics now require some type of insurance or they turn you away.

So in other words: no.

The issue I have with your post is your use of the word 'many'. In these types of discussions, the word is inherently deceptive. Anyone with any particular view can go out, find 4-5 examples of something that proves their point and report back claiming they've found 'many' occurrences, and that can be misinterpreted as meaning much more than just a few.

That's why I asked you if you had a better approximation than just saying 'many'. You named one.

Good job.

Here's to put the issue into perspective. The blue dots represent county operated clinics providing the vaccine for free. The red dots represent county facilities that are offering it, but charging.

The green dots represent all non-county operated clinics, which are charging. The green and red dots would have previously offered the vaccine for free prior to Obamacare. Changes in state funding due to Obamacare have changed how health services work in the county.

The fact that the infection spread more than 30 miles across the county could probably have been prevented had more clinics been offering the vaccine this year like in previous years.

Simply look at meningitis cases last year to this year. Last year was a total of 8 cases. This year have been 9 cases in 4 months.

That was always the case. I've been turned away a few times from different clinics well before Obama left Al Qaeda to ruin America from the inside.

As far as I understand it, the blanket term "Obamacare" is really just a subsidized mandate to help insure those who can't afford $280/mo. Which isn't even that much a change when you consider all insurance is a subsidy program.

It's not that either. It's literally thousands of health care plans, from multiple private providers streamlined and tailored to the needs of individuals, families and companies in specific counties and states. What you're thinking of is known as Medicare and COBRA.

You are correct in that clinics and hospitals, not operated by county, have always had the option to turn patients away based on insurance for non-emergency services.

Every county operates differently and receives funding differently so creating this blanket statement that X applies to all counties throughout the United States simply isn't accurate- even I acknowledge that.

However, one cannot fail to acknowledge that the changes from Obamacare have also reduced the funding for non-insured patients outside of county facilities as is in the case of Los Angeles County.

I have a close relation that works at a county clinic, and s/he is swearing to the story that conservative business interests are twisting the arms here. Big Pharama and all that tinfoil hat stuff.

That said, this relation also believes that Jesus is the Lord And Savior, so I can't take anything seriously that comes from his/her mouth.

I personally support nationalized healthcare (Not Obamamacare). I think the net gain in the nation's health and well-being justifies the sizeable cost.

Whatever the case is, the time was wrong for a change like this reeling from the economic collapse.

Los Angeles County Clinic?

I am not going to point the finger completely at Obamacare(it does A LOT of GOOD), this story has a lot more to it, the actual Department of Health has been really bad about handling this outbreak. E.g. they didn't tell the public of the number of cases, location or that people had actually died until like 3-4 weeks ago.

Insurance is meant to be used in case of emergency, not for a regular doctor's visit. It needs some retooling and a re-branding. How's that for free market?

I really don't know enough about economics to even *** my way to a comment on nationalized banks. The only thing I do know is I can't see the government being any less crooked than the banks themselves. At least with National Health, you have some positive incentive: Better health -> More Productive Workforce - Less economically anxious Citizens -> Encourage spending -> increased revenue.

Above all else, the Founders were masters of compromise. I think they'd fear the threat of Corporate interests more than Government. After all, what are the Elite Corporate leaders of the world if not a new incarnation of the Imperialist Aristocracy the founders held in such ire?

Really depends on who's in charge. At the moment, the federal reserve is literally a privately owned corporation and it's literally run by the banks. If you nationalize the banks and put the same people in charge, not much is going to change.
