Russia and Ukraine
Leviathan.Chaosx said: » I suppose it's also human nature to simplify things to good or bad, us vs them as well, or maybe that's just fear. That is because humans are tribal creatures by nature. We always form tribes based on similarities and common goals. An attack on one member of the tribe by someone outside of that tribe is taken as an attack on everyone in the tribe. You can see this behavior within all social groups, it's also the source of all discrimination and the reason why you can't ever get rid of discrimination. Ultimately humans, including yourself, are fueled by emotions and not rational thought. Rational thought is only used to justify the emotional decisions that have already been made. It's ok for you to cite references to other countries' past leaders, but not ok for them to cite anything the U.S. has done, unless it's a generalization absolving the U.S. of any direct responsibility?

It is in the context of the cultural perception of an us versus them mentality that Russia has historically had for well over a thousand years. example: Eastern Orthodox v Catholicism.
How about the context of Putin of wishing to restore Russia to the height of CCCP? How about the context of Russia not doing a very good job against Georgia, making a mockery of it's military might and efficiency in 2008? Again nobody said you can't or that you would be wrong if you did. That supports your claim but you ignored it for the sake of perpetuating antics on the internet. They were under pressure to abide by international law, yet somehow international law did not apply to their situation unless it was them who was breaking it. Damned if you do, and damned if you don't situation. Russia does not like waiting around for nothing to happen. You'll get the benefit of the doubt, but not for long without any concrete actions. Talk is cheap as they say. Leviathan.Chaosx said: » And we've gone full helix now. How about the influence of radical Islam the U.S. created to ward off
Well 9-11-2001 made the statement that it's not really a good idea in the long run and that things can come back to bite you in the ***. Same thing with the Boston Bombing of 2013 with Dagestani Mujaheddin. But the problem you'll find is most people on this site wont acknowledge the Reagan administrations funding of the Mujaheddin, or any current CIA operations in the same vein.
Don't forget ultimately that the internet is a CIA tool for spying.
I see what you did there.
YouTube Video Placeholder edit: Though this is far more interesting: YouTube Video Placeholder Holy cow, is that an old swing wing? People still fly those? The fad is over, even our 1 remaining swing wing is crap. Sukhoi's were always ***, that thing should be in a museum.
Also, who did that video, the file video of the plane they are showing isn't even the same as the relic that flew over our destroyer. Amateurs. You should look at the Sukhoi T-50, Russia's answer to the F-22:
YouTube Video Placeholder YouTube Video Placeholder I have heard they are having problems with the engines for the T-50, focusing too much on the stealth and less on the durability (typical Sukhoi). Nobody really knows for sure it is probably still at least 5 years away from being fully deployable, but I doubt it will end up being a rival to the F-22.
And we're back to penis sizes.

Quote: Kharkiv, Ukraine's Mayor Shot in Back, 'Fighting for his Life' KIEV, Ukraine -- The mayor of an eastern Ukrainian city has been shot and wounded amid separatist unrest, his office says. The office of Hennady Kernes, the mayor of Ukraine's second-largest city Kharkiv, said Monday he has been wounded with a gunshot to his back. It said he is now undergoing surgery and "doctors are fighting for his life." Kharkiv is part of the region in eastern Ukraine where pro-Russian gunmen have either seized government buildings or staged protests to demand greater autonomy or outright annexation by Russia. Source This could develop into some trouble, since all it takes is one pro-Russian politician to get injured by the pro-Kiev group to get the ball rolling.

It's a pretty interesting read. Bismarck.Misao said: » Bismarck.Aselin said: » You should look at the Sukhoi T-50, Russia's answer to the F-22: cool jet fighter... but that paintjob... I thought we abandoned the Raptor for the F-35. Also there was that problem where the production F/A22's couldn't ascend particularly high because of issues in the pressure systems. Probably should have gone with the YF23 Black Widow instead, plus that thing just looked hella cool. Odin.Zicdeh said: » I thought we abandoned the Raptor for the F-35. Its been a disaster, a Frankenstein if you will, an endless money pit, its not even in service 10 years later and likely never will be. The F-22 is a great airplane. I probably just have the nouns reversed again. I do that sometimes. As an Ace Combat fan (Before Assault Horizon, *** that game) I spent a lot of hours in the cockpit of an F22.

Its been a disaster, a Frankenstein if you will, an endless money pit, its not even in service 10 years later and likely never will be. The F-22 is a great airplane. This, pretty much. The F-35 has been a financial and technological failure. It's gone over-budget and has cost more money than the F-22. There has been one mechanical or manufacturing failure after another for that aircraft. The Pentagon/USAF even slashed the number of orders of the F-35. I still wonder why they continue to throw money at it. Oh, that's right, we need to replace the aging F-16/F-18 jets on aircraft carriers if I recall. I remember something along the lines we needed an aircraft for the Marines, Navy, and Air Force especially one with STOL (short take-off/landing) capability. |
