Shut 'em down!

No, but there is a common courtesy understood by everyone (well almost everyone) who takes part in internet conversations. you ARE supposed to be kind, polite, and if a disagreement occurs it isnt to be stretched to the limit of personal attack or threats. anyone whose taken a computer lit. class gets this lesson within the first few chapters. However, there are the exceptions like troll and warranted idiots bantering on about what they dont know about and challenging your specific knowledge without knowing your education level or your certain interests (people who have lost the argument and resort to personal attacks, etc [more than likely to preserve their Ego's and save face]). And yet, you fail to follow your own rules. So does almost everyone who uses the internet.

Granted, the exception is when theres just no respect for common courtesy on the net from the other party, therefore the other person is an idiot and all bets are off. Why follow the rules when the other side doesnt play by them? Oh wait, i can just change them to suit my underlying political agenda and then blame it all on Obama. Yup, i can totally do that.

It's somewhat grounded in accurate definitions versus the recently popular "Socialist Muslim Fascist" which I hear a lot of.
You know how fun it is pissing a person off when you correct them on the concept that one can not be a socialist and a fascist being that they are diametrically opposed ideologies? It gets better when they mock you for being "learned" and an elitist.

You cant be a Socialist AND a communist at the same time, they are two very different economical theories :< Unless of course....SOCIOCOMMUNISM!!!!!!!!!!

You don't ever invoke that exception. It happens when a group of people are calmly and respectfully discussing an issue and one of the TP brigade barges in calling everyone idiots and blaming their ketchup stains on Obama.

Unless you're talking about the movies, it's apples to oranges. Star Trek has well over 1000 episodes across the incarnations, Star Wars is 6 movies and some kind of lego animation show.
If it's movies vs movies, if you drop the prequels, I'd put the original Star Wars ahead of the first 5 Star Trek movies.
