Jessick If I am reading you correctly, are you telling me that they can only bank so much of the premiums? If my premiums still go up it doesn't matter who is getting the money. The fact is it still comes out of my pocket and I pay more for other people and get less coverage.
No, it's more direct than that, I'm just not good at explaining things. Do a little research on the provisions if you're curious. I'll dig up the official plain language versions of the mandates tomorrow.

All the young liberals, 18-40, that haven't signed up for Obamacare but wanted it forced down everyone's throats, well the solution is simple. Picture this: Affordable Health Care Act Kiosks at all Whole Foods and Starbucks locations. Problem solved. If that doesn't work, free pair of thick framed hipster glasses for signing up.

1. where you found statistics of who has signed up based on age or political views.
2. how you think that anyone is cramming ACA down anyone's throat (which demonstrates a profound misunderstanding of how insurance and ACA work)
3. your source to show that anyone is more likely to sign up for health insurance at a natural food store or coffee shop
4. when/where you sustained your TBI.
It has been pushed down my throat. My deductible almost doubling shows me it has been pushed down my thought. The fact that I don't want to be told that I have to pay a private company with my own money is another reason that it was shoved down my thought.

The more people enrolled, the lower the premiums, that's the essence of how any insurance works, it's how companies are able to purchase plans for their employees. It's the only way ACA does anything, by having EVERYONE insured.
If you HAD insurance, I don't see how your deductible could have changed because of ACA.
Quote: Don't get me wrong, I recognize that we need change, but I don't think this is enough reform on the health care system.
I agree, ACA is a bit of a dud. But it isn't the apocalypse that neo-cons are portraying it as, it's funded by the money saved in other areas, and it's a platform for progressive reform. I do understand that's the "doing anything is better than doing nothing" answer. It's gotta get off the ground and get into effect before any of the doomsday prophecies can either come true or not, and if it warrants repeal of revision, then that's what should be done.
Because, you are told you are required to carry it so it gives insurance companies free rain to increase their revenues as much as they want.
Yes I have insurance and it is pre-ACA. It has also gone up every singe year for the past 5 years I will admit, however it has never been a 58% increase in my deductible. I have yet to see the premiums I should find that out on the 14th.
As I said before I also signed up on the ACA just to see what I would have gotten. I was looking at a 3k deductible and $100 dollars more than what I am paying now and that doesn't include dental or vision. I currently have a 700 dollar deductible, pay 100 dollars a month and that includes dental and vision. I have yet to see where this is affordable.
I receive about a 1k dollar raise a year if I get a review. All it is doing is going towards this years Health care cost which I am still in the hole over. I have yet to see where having all these people on the system make things more cost effective.
It is a dud. There should have been better regulation. Small ones like opening up the insurance business across state lines.A cap on the amount that premiums and deductibles could have been raised for the next 3 years. There are things they could have done. But they rushed this system and pushed it down my throat and it's costing me a hell of a lot of money and I will not be going to the doctor as much.
Yes, but it gives you options. If your current plan is better then obviously you don't switch. Nothing changes for you as its the coverage you have had all along and the positive roll to you as previously mentioned.
That's a no brainier squishy but you missed my point, getting fuc$% over this new system is still getting fuc$54. It has increased my cost so far by almost 60%.
By Zerowone 2013-10-09 00:47:46
Its going up because of greed and the way the law is written. The law says that providers must use 80% of the premium towards medical care. They used to only put 20% towards medical care and used the other 80% for over head cost such as marketing and share holders. This is why so much money has been invested to misinform the masses the last 5yrs. What they are doing now is increasing premiums not because the actual cost of health care is going up but because it allows them to adjust the amount of their revenue based on the pecentage they can pocket off inflated premium rates.
By Fumiku 2013-10-09 00:48:29
So all they are doing is moving the rate from the premiums to the deductible which explains the 58% increase in deductable. THANKS OBAMA!

Unless the claims have gone up by 60%, you're leaving something out, or wrong.
Your costs aren't going up 60%, and if you have a deductable that high, you should look into a different plan or add an HSA.

Quote: California said 28,699 people were signed up in the state’s health-insurance exchange in the first week, while New York had more than 40,000 sign up.
If I read that correctly they signed up but not enrolled in New York.I signed up and was eligible in Ky, but I didn't enroll.
I am interested in how many people here have actually signed up and looked at the cost so far and actually challenge you to do so.
Jessick If I am reading you correctly, are you telling me that they can only bank so much of the premiums? If my premiums still go up it doesn't matter who is getting the money. The fact is it still comes out of my pocket and I pay more for other people and get less coverage.
The New York one says it completed the full application process and were found eligible for a plan. It doesn't say whether they bought the plans.
But when I looked at the plans in Atlanta, GA I didn't have to enroll in anything, so I am not sure if they bought the plans or not.
However, I looked at the plans for my husband and I, just my husband, just myself, and then for my 20 year old sister.
Plans for my husband and I together started at $120 a month, 3-4 visits to the doctors with a $30 copay, then only more visits after deductible was paid. For the $120 plan the deductible was $10,000. At $200 a month the deductible dropped to $3,500 with 4-5 visits with just copay.
For just myself it started at $110 a month and roughly the same pattern.
For my husband it started at $80 a month.
For my sister it would be $50 a month, $10,000 deductible, 3-4 visits with copay. However, with hers some blue cross blue shield plans offered deals for $70-$80 a month with deductible waived and only $30 copays.
But no I won't be enrolling as I live outside US.
By Fumiku 2013-10-09 00:57:53
Yes my cost have gone up sixty percent I am not wrong Jessick I know what I am talking about. It is not that hard to figure out. I pay 700 now I will pay 1200 next year for my deductible.
Granted I may not use all of that, however It is still an increase of 60% Even all the ACA deductibles are 3k for me.[/quote]

A 10k dollar deductible!? I just read that... That is ridiculous.... Granted you'll be covered when they find a brain tumor or an alien growing inside you...
For you if you don't have kids yet, that might be a good thing. However you would still be paying out of pocket for almost all your yearly medical needs except for maybe prescriptions if they are covered.
3-4 doctors visits with a 30 dollar co pay is nice though. I will admit that is a nice touch, but not enough to offset cost imo.

We paid $300 a month when we lived in GA. If we pay that now on the exchange it would be:
Bluecross blueshield premier plus
$35 copay
Deductible waived
$280.22 a month
Better than what we had before. not quite as I'm pretty sure maternity was covered before.
But many people have mentiond that across states there is a large variance in price based on fees from hospitals.

WAs that deductible waves on 3-4 visits or completely waved? Also did it cover specialist and did it cover prescriptions. Most of the plans I am looking at are like you said.
However they don't cover specialist, only 3-4 doctors visits, 3-4 practitioner visits, and they don't cover prescriptions.

deductible waived for unlimited number of non-preventive, primary care/specialty visits.... they say this, but then say after 3-4 visits it applies to deductible.

Ugh, ipad erasing what i wrote
P.5 under covered services -> your share of costs
Quote: NETWORK: (deductible waived for unlimited number of non-preventive, primary care/specialty visits): $35 Copay for primary care physician; $50 Copay for specialist
NON-NETWORK: 50% Coinsurance
I read this as deductible waived, but other hospital/emergency services is a more complicated pay scheme.
By Fumiku 2013-10-09 02:17:34
Yeah it waves the cost of the doctors from what I am reading but not the cost of the service.

Erm, that's not exactly what it said. If you use a lot of health services (lab work, x-rays,etc) it might not save you money in the end...depending on how much you use and depending on what the original deductible/coinsurance is, it might spread it out more. If you don't use a lot of health services it will/can save you money.
It all depends on your relative health or families health on the best plan for you. But really that hasn't changed. Insurance companies have always and will always be ...interesting.
This particular plan requires you to pay 20% on inpatient services and outpatient services until your coinsurance is reached (not exactly sure how that works). Now the copays may not count I can't really tell, which is not very nice.

How many democrats does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
The answer is 1701 if you are too busy to read the article...
And as usual the thing that galls me isn't the Q Q ing about the white house staff getting cut from 1701 to under 450 but nobody begged the question wtf do they need 1701 people at the white house for in the first place?
Really 1701? 450 people is too few? What the hell are they all doing?
Joe Biden is somehow able to manage with only 24 staffers. You figure one guy scores his weed and perhaps another fills the bong and one guy holds it while another lights it but then that leaves twenty people milling around as lookouts?
C'mon 1701 people are you *** kidding me? NOBODY asked the question? Do they have food tasters? Maybe a few hundred court jesters to liven the place up? A crack team of three hundred to reenact the battle of thermopylae!?? How many people lay on the floors as professional foot rests?
What the hell are 1701 people doing at the white house every damn day!?

That is interesting. The history of how the "white house staff" has developed is also interesting. Seems it includes policymakers, protection service, and household staff. A lot of people.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Executive_Office_of_the_President_of_the_United_States#Office_of_the_Staff_Secretary
http://millercenter.org/academic/americanpresident/policy/whitehouse
Quote: President George W. Bush's budget request for Fiscal Year 2005 was for $341 million in support of 1,850 personnel
It also looks like the white house shifts expenses to other departments since the budget listed for 2013 lists only 450 employees.

From the article...
"Thomas Jefferson had one messenger and one secretary at his disposal, both of whose salaries were paid by the President personally"
According to Bradley H. Patterson Jr., who factors in only the most central EOP units but also includes such things as White House maintenance, official entertainment, and Secret Service protection, the numbers may even be higher: 5,915 in personnel and a budget of $730,500,000 for FY 2001.*
AND Nobody questions it or thinks it's unusual...
