the only radical party is the Democrats. They march in lockstep on every single issue, a solid voting block in all matters. Not once does a Democrat in the Senate buck his party. That's radical. You have Senators like Joe Manchin, a supposed moderate from West Virginia toeing the party line and voting 100% with Senator Bernie Sanders from Vermont, who is a self avowed Socialist. That's radical. There are no individuals in the Democratic party. There is no debate in the Democratic party. There are no "other ideas" in the Democratic party. They do whatever they are told extreme left. That's radical.
I'm curious where you mentioned anything about it only being important issues? Also, what makes you think that those unimportant issues split the vote at all? Fluff legislation usually passes with overwhelming majority on both sides. So an actual statistician would throw out all of those votes on both sides and you'd arrive at nearly the exact same numbers with just a smaller sample size. Not only do you have no grasp on the US legislative process, you don't know anything about statistics you claim support your moronic opinions.
OK so now you are shredding your own reference. Dig it.
Do you speak English?
Because your reference was vague and weighed "fluff" legislation equally to major politically charged legislation with massive consequences. Then did I see you just invent you own statistics? How many votes were fluff legislation? Can you at least provide that number you started with when calculating your "statistics."
Once again, fluff legislation almost always passes with overwhelming consensus regardless of party lines.
If 98% of pubs and 98% of dems vote yes on a fluff bill, you can subtract the entirety of that bill from the total on both sides and the statistic remains unchanged.
You don't get to pick apart even the most basic portions of fields you know nothing about. And this is 7th grade Algebra, so I'm guessing you didn't make it to 8th grade.
OK here is statistics by Jassick. Let's take a look at these numbers then of course ignore them and forget about numbers entirely. Now let's throw out this, this and a bunch of this and voila see both sides are equal. Throw in comment about grade school.

Yes, internal debate within the Republican party consists of whether or not to destroy the US economy in order to... save it(?).
Are you saying that Democrats are unwilling to do the same? If you believe the economy would be destroyed and those are the certain consequences then aren't they also deciding to do that knowing the disaster it would cause? And aren't they willing to accept that kind of carnage if they thought it would benefit them politically? I think you know they would.

GOP idea of internal debate: Force the Speaker to choose between two career crippling decisions, either follow the Hastert rule and shut down the entire government, or ignore a radical faction of your party and rely on Democrats to help you pass a budget. But hey, at least they are debating right?

Quote: On Friday, the US defence contractor Lockheed Martin said it would put 3,000 workers on unpaid leave.
...
From Monday, Lockheed will put 3,000 staff on leave, but the defence giant said this number would rise if the shutdown continued.
"I'm disappointed that we must take these actions and we continue to encourage our lawmakers to come together to pass a funding bill that will end this shutdown,'' Marillyn Hewson, Lockheed's chief executive and president, said in a statement.
"We hope that Congress and the Administration are able to resolve this situation as soon as possible," she added.
The announcement followed United Technologies' decision to temporarily lay off 2,000 employees.
Edit: in case people want to see what markets are doing beyond the dow. This article is not as good as some in FT but that requires a log-in account.

At this point I think the pubs are just passing all these smaller bills to fund popular programs and hoping to god that the dems don't pass em so they can attempt to use it against them in the next elections... so you didn't want to fund this bill to reopen the national parks?!?! or cure cancer babies?!?! omg what a terrible person... you know even though we could of passed a bill originally that had our own numbers so that no one would of had to go through this in the first place... :)

Breaking: "Spite house" shuts down part of the Amber Alert system amberalert.gov, but keeps funding open to Michelle Obama's http://www.letsmove.gov/.
Talk about paying politics, the AMBER Alert program is a voluntary partnership between law-enforcement and broadcasters that issues urgent bulletins following cases of child abductions. It does run on government money but the proper system is still in operation. There is no reason to shut down a website that is already up and running, either. It doesn’t save money unless they’re turning off the servers, and they’re clearly not doing that becauwse the proper system is still running. The website might not get updates if the staff running it is furloughed, but once up and running it should more or less run on its own — much like the World War II memorial does when NPS officials are not on duty.
I guess Michelle's site is far more "non-essential".
Obama is throwing one hell of a temper tantrum. He's even got the National Park Service is kicking people out of their own privately owned homes.
I can't believe you liberal sheep are falling for this.

I can't believe you make it through each day into the next but hey... it seems to happen...
Edit: How can you continuously ignore the fact that the Republicans can end this shutdown whenever they want with the agreed upon CR numbers which were in their favor? Instead they would like to attempt to stick it to the dems as much as possible before they have to get back to business... The pubs can end this at any time... They could have prevented it from ever even getting this far... Instead you would like to let it drag on and pick out things as they come up in an attempt to gain some kind of favor after plunging the nation into this position in the first place lol...

Is Obamacare not another handout? Christ you are blind.
The republicans want changes to Obamacare, they've offered several different possible outcomes that they would be willing to accept, none of which call for it's complete abolishment. Obama's the one that's saying "I won't negotiate". Polls might be opposed to the government shutting down to begin with, but people want compromise as a resolution, and only one party isn't advocating that. It's the democrats.
I don't know how you rationalize that Obamacare is off the table because people re-elected Obama. The logic on that is completely flawed. People also re-elected republicans to a clear house majority. They campaigned against it, much more aggressively than Romney did I might add. And despite the denial of some on this thread, the law has met consistent and clear opposition from the public ever sense it was passed. How do you count one instance but not the other, nice double standard there. Democrats can also end the shutdown pretty quickly to you know, all they need to do is compromise.
Also you fail to even acknowledge the roll Obama even plays in the shutdown, and the things he does simply out of spite. He is using tyranny to gain political points, that's pretty bad and also unprecedented. You simply ignore it, pile the blame onto republicans, as though you are a bad parent. Excusing the results of your child's tantrum because another child called him a bad name.

Erm. Just to let everyone else know the gross world product (gwp) was $71.83 trillion in 2012. Currency in circulation (which really has no bearing on anything in the world today) is over $2 trillion.

I haven't had a chance to read the obamacare law in it's entirety but what I have read suggests it forces individuals to get heath insurance (much like you are forced to get car insurance).
It gets a little hazy on the enforcement side. If you don't get insurance you pay a penalty but you don't get any sort of insurance when you pay the penalty...
I assume that those that don't pay the penalty will be put into stocks and we can throw eggs and rotten fruit at them until they are unconscious...
and then they can just go to the emergency room for treatment like they do now and stick the hospital with the bill

Excusing the results of your child's tantrum because another child called him a bad name. Mostly I just ignore you because well all you do is spout nonsense for the most part... you follow the party line in ignoring anything you do and then trying to blame anyone else for any little thing you can find and just push that... You don't ever even ask answer any questions... you just find what you consider to be a fault... spew some nonsense like you're right and the other side (whoever that is atm) is wrong lol...
I'm well aware that Obama and the dems are also at fault for the state that the nation is in but to say that the republicans have no fault or are even working for the best interest of the people is a ridiculous statement lol...
Obamacare isn't perfect for sure... The republicans have attacked it a great deal of times since it was brought up and then voted on and incorporated into our government... Things have been changed... things that they didn't want to change... conversations have been had... compromise... now they just want it delayed again so they can take it out completely or just neuter it so it has no effect... this is not the time or the place to do what they are doing... don't act like they couldn't have gone about this in a rational way and that the only thing they are doing now is trying to pass popular programs to buy more time while they stamp their feet some more... They will not get anything changed on ACA and they will not get it off the table... this is a fruitless effort and an idiotic one...
It maybe somewhat flawed but if you want to play it that way I mean the dems took the senate and the oval office so they win! lol... the pubs took the lowly house... we shall see going forward how this all plays out for the upcoming elections though... public opinion is a fickle ***...

If you haven't read the bill, then you're in the same boat as congress. You can more likely afford the penalty if you cannot afford a plan off the exchanges. If you opt to pay the penalty instead of buying a plan then you can just wait until you get sick before buying insurance because we're made it law now that NO ONE can be denied coverage. So just pay the penalty, wait till you get really sick and the government will heavily subsidize your the insurance you buy to get well.
Total handout. Not only are we paying for the more expensive coverage once people are sick, but we're promoting a system where people avoid the dr because paying a penalty is cheaper than paying for coverage.

Could just go to the site itself and see that for the year 2014 its a mere financial slap on the wrist versus the penalties in 2016 and beyond: https://www.healthcare.gov/what-if-someone-doesnt-have-health-coverage-in-2014/

Thats 2016, check the link from my previous post: The penalty for 2016 is 2% of income or $695 per person, whichever one is the higher value.
2014 is 1% of income or $95 per uninsured adult, whichever on is the higher value will be the penalty. For uninsured childred in a household the penalty will be 47.50. Households for 2014 will have cap at a max penalty of $285.
edit: typo of 95% to correct type of $95.

Ok. When someone gives a number like $71.83 trillion this means you need to add 12 zeros.
So that number is actually $7,183,000,000,000,000.
This is greater than $83.592 billion or add 9 zeros to get $83,592,000,000,000 which brings your rounded number up to the $84 trillion number.
This number is from p.12 http://www.ncpa.org/pdfs/st338.pdf of the study that was in your link.
Edit: I confused and used both Danish and American decimal systems =/

Its a bit of lie, and a certain something advocates that are in the fight need to clarify people on. It is true the penatly for 2014 is something anyone can afford but come 2016 its not affordable especially coupling in the fact the unsubsidized cost of health care for a person without insurance is astronomical.
