A new war you can't blame on Bush! Or can you?
By BakingJonez 2013-08-25 20:50:32
Logic and reasoning fails again. It can't be Al Qaeda (Saudi Arabia's hired 'rebels' in Syria estimated at over 40,000 mercenaries who the west gives weapons to) releasing chemicals (again), It must be the 'regime' with nothing to gain from such an action. Anyone believing or supporting another war to kill children should not vote or start getting educated away from the television.
We do not need another war. Keep our men and women home and Syrian children alive. If we weren't arming the Muslim Brotherhood fighting for power in Syria it would have been over a long time ago. Write your congressman/woman today. Not that they will listen but you can let them know they won't get re-elected for it.
Another win for the CIA. Start another war, trick the simpleton public to support it. All because another leader won't bend over to the U.S. interests.

I'm assuming you're talking about the suspected use of nerve gas on civilians in syria and the investigation on the subject of foreign aid to egypt. Neither of those are wars, neither warrant our intervention, and both are being approached very objectively by us and the international community.
Maybe there's some source for information that would indicate there are more devious motives afoot?

We're not going into Syria. Boots won't be on the ground and any support will be the usual shady as ***, we're not technically helping you guns and logistics.
I've seen the pictures of the dead children in Syria and it's regrettable but emotions and fear are how we got into Iraq and it looks like Obama wants no parts of some 'Murica *** yeah on Assad.

I've seen videos out of Syria that are just as bad. The most recent one being the beheading of Catholic priests by Syrian rebels screaming "Allah akbar!" in the video. Another video of Assad's military sending jet bombers and bombing a small town in Syria and the innocent villagers dying or dead in the rubble.
These are videos from both sides of this horrendously atrocious war-- Assad's military and the Syrian rebels.
It's honestly one place we should not get involved in. Neither side is good and neither side is going to be better for the Syrian people. And, worst still, any retaliation against Assad may permanently damage our relationship with Russia and China who are backing his regime. No side is innocent in this war. They are both equally guilty of crimes against humanity and atrocious war crimes where each side should be prosecuted and charged with by a war tribunal.
The Middle East is one *** up region having conflicts as old as the [Catholic] Bible's The Old Testament. It's as if they do not know the words peace, humanity, compromise, equality, and forgiveness. Too many innocent lives are being killed in various parts of the Middle East from Egypt to Irag to Syria to Palestine. You tend to ask yourself from time to time: "When will that region of our planet stop killing each other?"
Or, better yet: "When will it all end?"
It's about as bad as the rebels and tribal wars in Africa if any are still going on to this day. Yet, many countries in Africa have been able to advance away from their bloody past save for a few like Somalia.
We can say, "Let's leave them well enough alone and let history and time sort itself out."
But, how many more children and innocent men and women who either have fled these conflicts or died in them will it take before a permanent peace arrives?
It comes to the decision of the US and the current and future Presidential administrations to weigh in the risks and benefits of actively involving this country and our allies in another conflict in the Middle East. Obama and whoever is going to be the next President is going to have the hardest time in office.
They do nothing and we will get blamed as a country for letting millions of innocent people die.
They do something and we will get blamed for being a bully and butting our noses into conflicts we shouldn't get involved in as well as unnecessarily wasting another trillions of dollars of taxpayer money.
There is absolutely no easy decision here and no way out of it. We are already involved even if we have no military on the ground in Syria. It is how it is.

You try living in a region that has been baton passed by empires for the last two millenia and see if you ever know peace before the next war determines the layout of the land. Europe is just coming off nearly destroying itself in all-out war and that continent was supposed to be the bastion of the enlightened. Right.
The acts of men like Assad are the hallmarks of a dictator willing to do anything to grip power and the bodies that pile up are currency in that exchange. Russia will back its ally for resources and strategic placement the same way we do with our more shift allies like Saudi Arabia and Iraq before that. Geopolitics isn't a game for the faint of heart and people dying doesn't really bother you when ends justify the means.
So long as natural resources are dominant in that region, empires including our own shall continue to pull strings behind the scenes and influence things the way they seem fit in order to reach a desired outcome. For a region said to have such religious significance and adherence it seems a divine prank that the region has always been so hotly contested and in turmoil.

Catholic Bible is the New Testament, the Old Testament is the Jewish Bible.
And the Book of Mormon is fanfiction based on both.
Islaam is based on the Old testament and even mentions Jesus (as a prophet not the son of god if I remember correctly.)
Yet what all of these religions agree on is that they don't agree with each other.
(And the catholic bible is also the old testament but there's 'supposed' to be more emphasis on the new testament. Yet most people like to quote the old testament when they get pissed off or offended by others.)

No, the new testament was compiled with accounts of the exploits and teachings of Jesus. The Catholic and greater Christian groups choosing to embrace the Old Testament doesn't mean it's theirs, it means they are using the Jewish Bible as well. In any case, I was just pointing out a flaw in that person's reasoning.

See? This is why you can't argue with people about religion. Just because you can't have the new testament without the old testamant and you can't have Christ without the Old Testament God apparently doesn't mean it's their religion or religious book.
Baptists have claimed the old testament so thoroughly they believe it quite literally. So much so that they believe the earth can't possibly be more billions of years old. Many of them don't even believe that dinosaurs existed. I've heard them talk about how dinosaurs are tricks of the devil.
But I digress, you're right. They don't own the old testament. They don't even own the new testament. It owns them.

Syria huh? Well whenever those guys get tired of killing each other, or when one side wins, and establish a working government again, maybe they will consider making themselves a country of worth, so the next time civil war breaks out, there might be a reason for the world to care. But I doubt it.

Catholic Bible is the New Testament, the Old Testament is the Jewish Bible.
I blame my private Catholic education for that. I've been taught for 12 years-- 8 years elementary and 4 years high school-- it [The Old Testament] was a pre-Catholic invention written by the Hebrews.
I'm sorry for that mistake.
Regardless, I choose to have no religion anyway. The way they tend to find ways to kill each other regardless and in disregard of their own beliefs makes me not want to be a part of any religion. That and with how many people with strong (or fundamentalist) religious beliefs tend to be hypocrites in disregard and disrespect of their own beliefs and teachings.
"Do as I say, not as I do" seems to be how most or many and all religions are.
The Middle East and Islam is a good example. Take it to the extreme like many extremist groups do and it goes against what is taught in the Quran.
The majority of the conflicts in the Middle East have a religious tone or intention behind them. Syria and Egypt are two current examples.

Actually I can blame every problem in the Mideast, other than Israel, on Bush.
Not W. not G.H.W. but Prescott.
Catholic Bible is the New Testament, the Old Testament is the Jewish Torah.
Fixed. We don't have a bible.
.... *** Syria and *** anyone that does that to their own people.....
I hate to mention this but in the worldview prevalent there those are NOT Assad's own people. His people are Alawites. And they are cheering him on.

Don't worry, liberals will still find a way to blame this on Bush.
I mean, they are already blaming Obamacare on Bush, so this is par for the course.

The Affordable Care Act was a Republican idea, Obama put it in a more liberal package, Republicans struck nearly every change from it before passing it. But morons insist on calling it Obamacare to distance themselves from reality.
If it were a liberal legislation it would be single payer like MOST of the western world.

Where do you get your bs? Tell me one amendment the Republicans were allowed to make to Obamacare. You say morons call it Obamacare; Obama calls it Obamacare.
And open your eyes all you dolts that support it blindly; IT IS SINGLE PAYER, well it will be in a few years. Any rational person would have rejected single payer if they tried to pass it openly. This is simply the bridge or "starter home" as Tom Arkin called it the night of its passing. It's all right there in front of you if you open your eyes and actually think things trough; single payer is the logical outcome of this disaster. The steps in place now are designed to bankrupt the insurance companies, not overnight but in several years. There will be no health insurance, just the federal government paying for health care costs for every American and inevitably rationing it because the costs will be astronomical.
If you want to discuss Obamacare then start up another thread and I'll be happy to cream you in an argument on it. Otherwise keep your lies about it out of this thread.

It was coined Obamacare by a conservative news magazine during the 2008 Democratic Primary, and Obama doesn't call it Obamacare, he calls it "The Affordable Care Act" cause that's it's name.
Republicans struck out Single payer and public options and pushed the penalties back a few extra years.
It's not single payer, it's not a road to single payer, and the cost are astronomical because healthcare is one field that functions far more cost-effectively outside of corporatism.
Off topic, off base, and off your rocker.

Ahaha, when in doubt duck and fire the Obamacare salvo. Offtopic and ultimately irrelevant to the topic at hand.
Still bitter that Congress at the behest of President Bush got us into Iraq and bankrupted the gov't coffers? So much fiscal responsibility he shelved the costs off to the next administration.
Obama has his list of sins piling up but keep throwing out "liberals!" to blind yourself from the reality thus far.

Because everything seems to be his fault. Instead of blaming their horse (or donkey in this case) they will just blame on previous Republican presidents just so their horse and savior wouldn't be blamed for the incompetence that is him.

Back some of that bs up you just babbled. Start with this lie of yours. How did Republicans strike Single Payer and Public Option? There was not one Republican amendment allowed.
And ffs, stop this other lie that you aren't a liberal. I don't mind debating with people, but you gotta at least be honest. Not going to debate outright lies with people.

Ooooh, that stung.
I'm sorry you don't understand what being on-topic is though. If and when Obama commits to war in Syria, I'll be the first one here to make a thread condemning his actions in our economic slump. People dying in Syria in a civil war is unfortunate but I'm not playing geopolitics where Russia feels Assad is justified, the rebels range from normal citizens to jihadists and America may/may not be funneling money underground through the CIA. Saddam Hussain used chemical weapons on his own people and we looked the other way so the emotional argument is bunk.
There is no need here for a declaration of war period.
Till then, Bush started two wars he couldn't pay for and shelved the costs off to the next administration to cover his rear. Regardless of if you supported one, both or neither that is fact and no amount of Obamacare changes that fact. Full stop.
By nephilipitou 2013-08-26 13:27:46
Actually you can blame this war on Bush because Bush created the Bush Doctrine which is basically "Haven't quite messed with us yet? We'll save 'Merica by messing with them first"
I blame Cheney as much as Bush but they left a legacy of fear, hype, and corruption.
Besides Obama's barely even a left winger. If you think otherwise you're part of the brainwashy Right Wing News circuit. Why is the news circuit right wing? BECAUSE THEY ARE CORPORATIONS AND THEY LEAN TOWARDS LOWER TAXES AND HIGHER STOCK PRICES!
The right loves to be victimized so they take these center right news corporations and call them left wing tyrants. Same with Obama. Obama does Mitt Romney's Health Care Plan? Well Chuck Grassley went from it's just like car insurance everyone should have a mandate to get healthcare... to THIS IS TYRANNY!
I voted for Jill Stein. I'm not a brainless Obamacrat, I'm not a religious authoritarian Republican. A pox on both parties yes, but if you think that the Neocons have ANYTHING to do with the constant wars and killings... >_> Then go grab your blankey and keep a nightlight on and tell us when you start eating solid foods.

I'm sorry, are you implying that I am some kind of Obama worshiper? I would like you to find some examples of when I said a positive thing about him? He's ineffective because he insists on playing the Jackie Robinson role. If he were half the tyrant and Marxist you all like to peg him as, believe me he wouldn't be so flaccid.
I can dislike Obama's politics and disagree with the Neocons at the same time, it's called Pragmatism. Look it up.
