Oh geez, my heart got so heavy after watching the train depart and Cyan practically jumping on the tracks to be with his departed family. That was rough ._.

It's funny how a game with such primitive graphics compared to todays, can produce such a profound storyline.

Compare VI to XIII for example.

Sadly, it's much more convincing to makes sales in such an industry to make flashy lights than it is to make a truly decent story.

A shame SE doesn't just make books.
I would love nothing more than to see FF1-12 put into novels.

I didn't like the story from XII. It felt like Star wars :/

II, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X and XI I would buy in a heartbeat.

Many people don't rate the story of XI very much, but I really enjoyed it all.

I think part of 6 that was especially cool was the two world thing. You just got done exploring (sorta linearly) World of Balance then they went and changed it on you in World of Ruin. New enemies, bosses, new espers etc.

And the fact that throughout the game everyone had their own story to be told, and while this happens in FF's, 6 had them split up at times, sometimes more unrelated too. It kept a fresh angle on the gameplay instead of just "taking Yuna from point a to point b".

I agree completely, Especially add the fact that all the characters weren't required to complete the game, I remember trying to work out how to get Terra back in the world of Ruin lol.

I still regret my first play-through, I didn't wait for shadow and I had a sad when I saw interceptor with Relm ; ;

Probably because it is one of the few MMOs to have a redeeming storyline at all.

When I was playing WoW, I was actually generally interested in learning about the lore and background story to it all, however that was so heavily masked with a two dimensional mindset of doing quests that served no interest or purpose other than getting exp and simply getting leet gear without knowing what you're killing or why; that combined with a community that seems to all have down syndrome, it totally defeated any quality there was under the surface, which is pretty much why I quit it and came back.

Guild wars is the only game that has a story even in the same realm as FFXI. It's one of the main reasons I want both XIV and Guild Wars 2. Especially Guild wars 2 though, that game ended on such a cliff hanger!

The lore ended in a way that means the world is on the brink of destruction, From the beginning you were told that if these dragons awoke (The only things that could kill the gods) then the world would fall into chaos. On the last mission you fight a cult called the 'destroyers' and in the final cutscene you see a gigantic statue start shaking, and the eye of the dragon just opens.

There was also a giant dragon under a sheet of ice, you see it start to move.

So basically you know that the world will be thrown into chaos at any time. Wicked storyline imo.

I am. Waiting for my lappy to come in, and hear back from 'em.

Do you know what skills you will get from jobcorps?
Ayup. Going into Culinary Arts as well. I figure, I can go into private schools for that later as well.

Seattle Central Community College in Capitol Hill has a great Culinary Arts program, just so ya know.
Prolly moving out of the state after I complete their program myself.

That sounds really cool, yet awkward to allow you to continue playing without having credits roll so to speak. I love cliffhangers but it just seems strange to let you continue progressing on your own after such an event.

At least with FFXI each expansion has it's own set and conclusion that intertwines with the ability to continue playing on til your next story begins.

Well the way they worded it was so that you knew the world was destined to fall into Chaos, it was just a matter of time. That was the last expansion to GW too. All the rest have been little add-ons where you play as characters from the lore in the past to learn about their storyline.

Each one of the stories was brilliantly done though. You had Prophecies which you ended up destroying a Lich who was trying to enslave the world, pretty Cliché but it gave you a good overview of the lore. I can't really remember the story of factions, but It was good iirc, in Nightfall an empress is trying to summon a gigantic demon (which you fight and is awesome) to create the world in her image.

Then the add-on pack called 'Eye of the north' came out which was the final chapter of the world, it ended well and Guild wars 2 is 250 years ahead.

Brilliant storyline though.

FFXI is the best series of them all (I mean as much as I try to ignore it and as well as everyone else here is concerned) cuz it is the most played game for us out of the entire series lol.

FFX and FFX-2 is the best though, but the strongest NM in that dungeon I never beat in FFX... I think I did it for like 2 hours or something, reminds me of AV lol, same crap different smell.

And I even had game shark on PS2 always!!

Penance was a ***, not due to difficulty, but due to the time he took.

Dark Bahamut will always be the hardest Dark Aeon imo.
