I'm torn between deciding on a really awesome comfortable couch like the one in the pic Sinharvest uploaded, or something more practical but less comfortable like a sofa bed. Although, the comfort can be increased on a sofa bed with the use of a mattress pad. Any ideas or suggestions for my bachelor equipment purchases?

You could get a day bed if you want a couch/bed. A little more comfortable, but twin is a little small for me personally.

Well the thing is I wanted something for my bedroom that I could sleep on yet have the option to sit on without having to be simply a mattress. Here is what I had in mind:

The mediocrity of the mattress could be remedied with a nice mattress pad for added comfort.
The issue I've had with these sort of futons is the fold runs vertically down the middle of the bed. If the frame can lie perfectly flat this is ok, otherwise it is very uncomfortable. A night with a girl will bend the metal easily for instance.

I was worried about that too. I slept on a couch all summer a few years back and my spine hated me for it. So having the ability to save room and still have a bed is nice. Plus the mattress pad should remedy most of the comfort issues with such a mediocre mattress.

Well see, that matress bends in the middle, or is split. That is fine for me to sleep on for a night or two but not for my bed. Course, look at us, we used to sleep on collections of leaves and moss.
I suppose I could get a lil sofa and get a mattress and frame to sleep on in my bedroom but that's so costly. This two in one solution would save alot of money and space in my room. But alas, the compromise seems to be comfort =/
But I think that pic of the sofa bed I linked would work okay. I'm not too picky when it comes to stuff like this. I almost prefer a firmer surface to sleep on. I've slept on floors/park benches before so this should do just fine me thinks.
Edit: I hate those gaming chairs. Maybe the ones I sat on were cheap and useless but even so I've been turned off by those abominations.
When I was younger I used to turn on my playstation and run FF7 just for listening to the music. I loved it that much. For my 12th birthday my folks bought me the soundtrack. I couldn't have been happier :]

I need to think about getting more/new furniture eventually. Right now all I own is a queen sized bed, 2 recliners, a coffee table, a TV stand, and the mini fridge doubles as an end table.
That's not too bad. My plans are having a sofa/bed for the bedroom with my two utility tables serving as a mini L-desk holding my dual monitor setup. While eventually I can get a nice couch for the living room with a TV stand for the TV and consoles worthy of being in the living room :3
