http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ellipsis

Ellipsis (plural ellipses; from the Greek: ἔλλειψις, élleipsis, "omission") is a mark or series of marks that usually indicate an intentional omission of a word or a phrase from the original text. An ellipsis can also be used to indicate a pause in speech, an unfinished thought or, at the end of a sentence, a trailing off into silence (aposiopesis).,

thought u may have me on the amount of dots cuz it says most common, but i have never seen more then 3
Most common, yes. It, however, is not a rule that you 'must' use three and only three .'s. When quoting a partial quote from a speaker, it is generally the accepted practice to put the "..." and no variation of it when not quoting the full length as I have done previously on this very forum. :P

Indeed.

It is just my preference to cap it at 3 .'s, in my opinion it looks sloppy and as if you paused for like 20 minutes lol.

Have you ever seen someone give an excuse like that and stutter that badly? You might as well pause for twenty minutes. :P
