Finally saw it like... 2 nights ago. Ended up falling asleep like 20 minutes before the end. It just didn't feel like it was anywhere near the expectations when it came to a "super hero" movie.
Which was disappointing as hell cause I felt they had a pretty good cast, but that story and the editing... just fell REEEEEAAALLLY flat.

I would never say don't watch it, but it does play out almost like a series of trailers rather than a movie. The way they introduced certain characters was random, and the flashbacks that were integral in the story's progression seemed as though it could have been placed elsewhere in the sequence.
EDIT: Glad we didn't go to the theater for it.

I just figured it'd be more of an anti hero story more along the lines of deadpool... all they really did was spend a lot of time making them all seem relatable and watch them become friends and ***... maybe I misunderstood the whole point of the inevitable trilogy but I didn't really like it...

I remember there being articles about the studio scrambling in the wake of Deadpool's success. Maybe it could have been a good movie?

few reasons i have low expectations for Suicide squad:
-it is a DCU film
-DCU has little to no word on it
-Character liberties and changes
-too many new characters for a 2hr film
-Floyd Lawton =/= Will Smith
-rated PG-13
-joker representation
edit:that said, despite Deadpool's success, I didnt like the film.
Atleast to the hype it built.

I really liked deadpool... maybe more so because I don't listen to any hype or ads before hand... can't wait for the second installment ...

I thoroughly enjoyed Deadpool, but I was the exact age group Nik described talking about Deadpool before. Young enough in the early 90s to not be familiar at the time with older characters like Lobo that Deadpool was (basically) ripping off (as I understand it), and right in the range to think Deadpool was just the best character ever because he was more accessible to all due to being in the readily-available Marvel line.

Maybe I'm just getting old but there's really nothing I "can't wait for" these days. My times of standing in line to be the first in the theater for my favorite franchise are long gone.
What about being first on a youtube comment? That seems to be very important these days.

The Joker a la Jordan Catalano was meh.

If you want to get a hearty laugh/visualization of a mental play-by-play into what the mind of a schizophrenic might be like, that's your movie. The editing is so weird.

I guess I should clarify, I like Deadpool, also. Maybe 'Suicide Squad' would have been decent if the studio didn't try to compete last minute.
The Ferris Bueller reference during the credits still gets me.

Wouldn't say it's so much lost passion for the subject matter, just less need to prove it to anyone else and realizing how uncomfortable those situations needlessly are.
