It's my experience that once the A/C goes, even if you fix it, everything else is going to ***out sooner rather than later.

I didn't say that the A/C itself wasn't a potentially quick and easy fix.
I'm saying every car my family has had in the past 25 years began a pretty steady decline once the A/C started needing attention.

My poor car is on its absolute last legs. I bought it cheap fifteen+ years ago, so I can't really complain about the ROI, but like you I am completely uninterested in the notion of having an actual car payment again.
