who is on duty right now? Shiva.Nikolce said: » ....five.... ok I might not make it.... /sweats How about it? I'm on the same time frame, even getting paid some overtime today and I'm still considering leaving it on the table like.. "...lunch out the door is sounding super good...forget this sad leftover salad, could stop and get me some steak tacos and a beer." YouTube Video Placeholder Trying to decide if I wanna go see these guys at the end of the month or not. They're playing a block down from my office. My wife's not really into them though so I don't know who I'd even go with. She'd go if I ask, but I don't wanna drag her to a show she's not really into. I also don't know about seeing them without Portnoy. Not jumping into that one, but I legitimately got a laugh.

Didn't really sweat out the genetic affinity for playing with fire though. Alti threw that blurb down and it reminded me of getting a swift swat for playing next to the grill after being told multiple times not to get close. We had the opposite consequence in that scenario. I learned the butt-burny way. LOL! IDK. A stern tone and an explanation seems to do the trick so far. Caitsith.Zahrah said: » IDK. A stern tone and an explanation seems to do the trick so far. Yeah. Think it depends on the kid too, obviously. I dunno. I don't like absolutes in general. "Only Sith, blah, blah, blah." Caitsith.Zahrah said: » IDK. A stern tone and an explanation seems to do the trick so far. you just gotta find what works. every kid is different. my oldest needed one swat on the butt and the other one needed the time out corner. you should be able to correct their behavior with the warning of the punishment or you are using the wrong punishment. Yep. Pretty much agreeing with everyone who has stated and restated that it's dependent on each, individual child.

I mean, give most kids a swat on the *** once and the threat of it will likely do just fine when used sparingly. If it doesn't, chances are the actual spanking isn't going to work well either and maybe you need to bark up a different tree. I know a guy -- retired teacher, actually -- who talks about when he was a younger teen they got to choose a paddling or detention, and he and his friends would do whatever the hell they wanted, take their paddlin', and go on their merry way. My brother was a little scrapper. He got it a couple more times than I did. Then again, he would stare my parents right in the eye and scream, "That didn't hurt!", right in their faces. LOL!
I had to give the stern "Respect other people's boundaries!" song and dance when the turdly one was getting a little too rough and tumble over Easter weekend. "Getting gritty is fine, but when someone says, 'Stop!', you need to stop. If you play too rough so-and-so isn't going to want to play with you." He welled up just at that. Sounds like a recount of my dad and his buddies' school days. I don't know if Penn does the same, but, if you were in athletics, your parents signed a waiver to either opt-in or opt-out of corporal punishment divvied out by coaches. I think the administration couldn't reprimand in that way then. I don't know if Texas still does it anymore or not. Then again, they probably don't have kids do Circle of Death anymore either. Sounds like some teachers were weak paddlers or had weak paddles. In the Athletic department they would bore holes into the paddle to give it just enough extra umph you thought a shotgun went off.
The mythical paddle! I've heard of these! The horror!
If there was misconduct by one or more of the girls in Athletics, they just made all of us run hills until the person/people was/were outed for what she/they did publicly. Physical activity/exertion is probably the most effective form of punishment with today's technology dependent kids.
I make em' sleep outside with the coyotes. assuming they survive, they learn their lessons quick.

We had a principal in middle school we were all very respectful of because we knew he slammed kids into lockers once. That's not an exaggerated story. That really happened and we obeyed the ***out of Principal *** Buckley. That was his name. And you didn't laugh. There was a principal when my dad was in high school that if he caught two guys fighting, he would haul them down to the gym, put boxing gloves on them and tell them, "You two wanna fight? Get it out of your system the right way then." Why would a principal go that far that?!?
You were in band, right? I remember they took the Girls' Athletic approach with band and had them march for an extra hour, no matter what season, if someone "misrepresented the school". |
