The area where that species is stretches pretty much on the coastal line from Houston to Florida.
Night is probably the worst when you're cruising around a walkway lined with streetlamps and trees. You don't realize until they're thunking off your head and shoulders one-by-one. The worst being when they latch onto your clothes and start trying to hold on for dear life as you panic.

Beetles aren't, as was mentioned before, a universal sign of squalor. That's about on par with june bugs and cricket here. No big deal.

it's all crap compared to bora bora, so maybe it's a goofy *** stalemate? and / or south dakota sucks worse than both those places, so can it.

Anyway, there's lots to not like about this place. But there's certainly enough pretty parts to it that labeling the whole state that way is kind of ridiculous. If you're into the outdoors at all, even a little bit, it's a really nice place. I'm still leaving, though.
