FFXIAH Linkshell Ni
Oh and on the terms of contact I read the body language of someone. If they're a hugger I'm a hugger. If they prefer handshakes I do handshakes. If hugs make them feel super anxious and awkward then I do hugs for the lols. It all depends.
I swear like a sailor. Every sentence I utter usually houses profanity in at least some aspect. Sure, I have the vocabulary skills to abstain from using crass words, but I've had long debated the existence of such words. The word "***" for instance is ludicrous. We all know what it means. We have all heard it at one point in our lives. It's inevitable. Yet a word like that; who does it hurt? Poor grandma with her virgin ears, oh no. Frankly, that word should be stricken from the swear word list. The same goes for "***".
There are some words however that should remain on that list and never uttered, and my reasoning behind that is that those words carry hatred and bigotry with them. The "N" word, for example. I will never utter that word because of the cultural mess it's associated with. True, the black community is reappropriating that word (and I've heard my students use it entirely too often), but frankly that one is better off not existing. The other that really riles me is the other "F" word. Again, the same connotation referring to members of the gay community in a very negative light. I despise that word and haven't uttered it in years. As to my personal swearing, I know when to use it and when to stop. There are three different types of speaking which we all do: colloquial, professional and jargon. At home with my roommates or my brothers, I swear up a storm. The word "***" is my "um". In my professional language though, I don't dare use any profanity, and typically I'll start using the ten dollar words. This is the language I use when I'm teaching or meeting with other professionals like a principal or other administrator. Jargon is similar to professional, but I use it mainly with other teachers and it includes words like "cognitive" and "pedagogy". So yeah, I swear a ***-ton. But I also know when I shouldn't. And I personally give very few words any power. That being said I know how to be an adult and not swear like a sailor when I shouldn't. but you're a narnian now. so your opinion doesn't even matter any more! I have a weird aunt that won't allow her kids to use words like "shoot" and "darn" because she says they are just substitutes for real curse words...one day she admonished me for using them and I told her to go get ***.
her face turned a weird purple color... Valefor.Sehachan said: » *facepalm* volkom said: » What happened to kids saying innocent stuff like 'darn' or 'shoot' Now see, I've always found "fake" swears more offensive than the real ones, because everyone knows what you're actually thinking/saying/meaning and it expressed the same sentiment; why is one version okay and the other isn't? Arbitrary taboo! Get rid of it. Posted after I started typing this, but yeah. Only I'm the other way around. Use the real words or none at all, for ***'s sake. Asura.Yomisha said: » I've been good! Recently got a promotion at work where I have very minimal interaction with customers. I help the technicians out in the field. They're generally easier to talk to. Unless they're grumpy as *** because they've been out in the heat all day, but I give them a pass on that. xD I really like Colorado now that it's not snowing every other day. Fiance is amazing, couldn't be happier on that front. Possibly getting married in either August or September! :) No rush though, you know? How about you!? Nice! Grats, ma'am! Grumpy customers versus grumpy professionals. One is definitely better than the other to deal with. LOL! This is probably regional, but venues are usually cheaper in July/August here. September would be a great choice for the weather. Glad to hear you two are enjoying yourselves! Pretty good. Was on the fence about jumping ship when a city planner job was available in a surrounding suburb. Those guv'mnt benefits and holidays are pretty and shiny! Pregnant, so job hopping would be a horrible idea. Nixed that, even though I think there was a lot of competition anyway. :/ The little stinko is terribly awesome and awesomely terrible right now. The big one has gone into a summer hibernation mode and it's like pulling teeth to get him out and about. LOL! volkom said: » my cousins (7 and 12) are saying things like: "get rekt'd" "owned" etc etc~ basically the generic trash talk you find online. What happened to kids saying innocent stuff like 'darn' or 'shoot' The nephew was yelling at a tablet calling someone a noob 4th of July weekend. I wanted to shake him and scream, "SPEAK PEOPLE!!!" Oh my, Zah! Grats on the new bundle of joy on the way! :D I agree though job hopping would probably be stressful for you right now. Maybe a new shiny will present itself afterwards.
Tell him that hibernation isn't for the summer time! XD Asura.Yomisha said: » Tell him that hibernation isn't for the summer time! XD How dare you AH! LoL itch! So many of the old gang in here right now! Where's Spath and Dame?!?
"***, that hurt like a ***!" "I feel like ***." "I'm too old for this crap." "Find a more accurate way to convey yourself, dumbass."
I don't see how any of those are worse than the other. To each their own I guess. Shiva.Nikolce said: » Remember the old saying. You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar I'm with yomi on this one.

I had a redneck ready to hit me once in Walmart because I was so obsequiously polite about not having something he assured me that we should have that he was literally frothing at the mouth, spittle pooling in the corners. Oh yeah Mosin, I met the postman today. He's the type of guy who takes his job way too seriously. Just missing the jacket, but wears a tie. I told him to be on the lookout for your letter.
I invited him in for some tea too. |
