Has nothing to do with gender pandering!

Just don't think it was a very good series.

And DS9 started out okay and then just went *** bonkers.

About the twin kids of leia and their adventures rebuilding the Jedi order

I read the initial authorized post-Ep. VI trilogy (the Heir to the Empire series by Tim Zahn) and I read A Truce at Bakura.

Just couldn't really justify the rest after that. It got a little crazy.

KotOR was the only expanded universe stuff I ever really enjoyed, and it blew even the prequels out of the *** water.

DS9 was great, in particular, at one of the cores of traditional science fiction: political commentary. I stopped watching after a couple of seasons because I wasn't around when it was on, and just never got back to it, though I always meant to.

Also, the Runabout was super cool

You definitely need to watch all the episodes, especially once the war is in full effect.

Then you just agree with me until you watch the rest! It started off very good, but it lost its ***after a few seasons.

Back then though DS9 was dull cause it lacked the exploration and mobility from Next-generation, tho the story won me over eventually.
Voyager had 9of7.

I lost interest in Voyager right before that one chick left. I ended up watching the rest years later once they played reruns on Spike TV just to see what happened.

Damn. Say something nostalgic about music and arcades and roller rinks in the late 80's to mid 90's, and people lose their minds.

wait for them to calm down a little and then poke them again.

Weird thought...

Not saying it in P&R. As Yat pointed out the live, in-person socialization of gaming has been curtailed in a way. I wonder if that is sort of a catalyst for some of the nastier, vindictive *** that make headlines as gamers.

/shrug

Who knows.

EDIT: Maybe those arcade experiences were good for being inclusive?

As someone who got in more than one fistfight over Street Fighter II, I am going to have to suggest you may be wrong on this one

I think it has definitely contributed to that. Combine with a few other factors, but certainly has something to do with it.

So, thinking about it seriously for a moment:

I actually think it goes the other direction; the sort of kid who's going to turn into a bully/***/whatever is now more likely to be one who plays a lot of video games, which was mostly a "nerd" hobby in past years.

It's less, I think, that more of those types are being created, and more that they have a new outlet and WILDLY expanded reach because of technology. We also only tend to hear about the negative cases, so recall bias makes it seem like it's endemic (when it really isn't, however bad individual cases might be).

I know anecdotes amount to a hill of beans, but I don't remember and can't fathom an instance of some of the things you read now. Granted, FFXI was my first MMO in spring of 2004, and I played with people from HS when we all scattered to different colleges.

My video game experiences beforehand were fighting with my brother over the second controller when my dad was playing with us, playing with neighborhood boys/girls, a little bit 'o Warcraft II/III with dial-up (my dad played the hell out of that with one of his buds). Then, some of us ducking out of distance training for cross country/track to smoke a bowl and play Mario Kart/Smash Brothers and sprinting back to make it seem as though we ran.

***be weird now. Is it an age thing?

EDIT: There was some RPG that the HS sweetheart and I spent half a summer playing. On the tip of my tongue right now. Compromises when your BF puts his foot down about going to a mall or swimming in a piss warm pool for the umpteenth time, and can't do too much travelling because both of you are saddled with summer jobs. :/

KotOR was a real gem. I read both Zahn trilogies, also liked the Han Solo trilogy. Didn't like black fleet and stopped at the madness which is the New Jedi Order. I might reread the Bounty Hunter Wars as I forgot them completly..

LOL! Needless to say, our school barely ever placed. I think the only events that were consistent with placing were the high jumpers, distance and distance relays.

Meets were basically do a couple events, scarf some stadium burgers or barbecue and sit around and chat/nap/tan. BEST SPORT EVER!!!
