Then there are the 9/80 workplaces; which don't actually do 9/80 due to overruns, as well as not matching similar companies' schedules. Alternating 9/80 weeks means that the max face-to-face you could do is 4 days.
I know I'd like to see a little more flexibility in our scheduling where I am (lookin' at you, four-day work week), but my weekends are truly mine, so I can't complain too much.

Teaching ASL at that young an age is an interesting thought.
I cannot overstate the benefit he got from it, being able to communicate some basic needs clearly (and see that his needs could be addressed so much more quickly when we knew the problem right away). It took away large parts of his frustrations and just made him (and us) so much happier overall.
That's very interesting and really awesome.
I looked at this very briefly. But since our daughter is learning both English and Danish at the same time I didn't want to overwhelm.
I do have to say I'm *slightly* expressive with hand gestures and she has picked up on those, quickly. Her first word was "Hi!" (Danish "Hej!"), followed by a wave.
At almost 16 months she understands far more Danish and English than I was expecting, so maybe the next one will get some sign language tossed in. Especially if boys are less verbal than girls.
But then it will be "Are we using Danish sign language or American?"
Decisions, so many decisions as parents.

We used to talk about it back in the old days (living out of the U.S. in general) but she's somewhat soured on the idea more recently.

I was paid $7.25/hour, but the snag was if you forgot to sign in and out at the admin office at the beginning and end of your shift, they wouldn't pay you for those hours. I forgot once and only once.
What killed me was some of the attendants (who were around my age) were EC/EDU majors. It's a paycheck, but you would think that they would immerse themselves more than someone who was playing it by ear.

They went out of business. I think I was twenty-five when I saw they were shut down.

It was a huge spectacle, the little boy in question's father was wasted, & slurring angry sentiments at the teenage girls. it was a fistfight away from an episode of cops. It has begun. My denial levels couldn't be any higher.
