Ugh...I can't do tequila anymore, if it's any consolation. It's always been a game of mood roulette for me anyway.

I dunno, I had a couple of these at Margaritaville in Key West:
And they were great. A bit sweet, but also plenty powerful...but I get what you're saying. Trick is to order a traditional margarita on ice, not frozen. Avoid any additional fruitybits.
