You should probably question HR on what the reasoning behind that is and if you get a response that says "obamacare" look for a more detailed response because you might be getting fleeced or HR isn't doing their job. It shouldn't have increased in price at all until 2015 anyways...

And since we have a lot of employees over 50 who also smoke, and we're on an umbrella plan of sorts... I get shafted the hardest. Most likely I'll end up getting some sort of individual plan... maybe.
Edit: Or I'll say *** it, have no insurance, pay the joke of a penalty and call it a day. I haven't been to a doctor in like 12 years anyway... I mean surely nothing bad can happen, right? Riiight?

Right now just trying to get applications out relatively quickly. At the very least I'm glad this happened near holiday seasons so everyone is hiring seasonal help. Biggest problem is I have a pre-planned trip to Vegas/Arizona atm that takes place during Thanksgiving week which will probably *** block me from anything retail. :/

I wonder if you had different levels of coverage and they switched over to a single plan... It's just odd that only one person has an increase in costs like that and everyone elses decreases...
If the plan you guys already had met basic standards nothing should have really changed upon renewal beyond the standard market deviations... changing plans and such dependent on what you're going after makes a difference and yes it would be harder to get the best deals out there with a smaller employee base but tripling and then doubling again seems excessive...
