What fast food companies should do to make their food better is to not have greasy fried chicken act as a bun, but maybe have something like whole grain wheat buns as bread instead. There's a lot of things that this would bring to the table, the biggest being fiber and whole grains. I still find the argument to be based on sugar-infused bleached, processed bread, but truth be told, all processed foods are that way.
Since I've gone on a diet where I try to limit my sodium and sugar intake, I've noticed something when eating foods I used to inhale from fast food joints. They all taste way too salty and way too sweet. Before the diet, I used to think that they all just tasted good; I just didn't bother to figure out how. Now I know better. Now I make my own bread, my own lunch meat, and eat healthy alternatives to the food I used to love. So I'm sorry, I refuse to jump on the bandwagon that states fried chicken is a healthier option to bread. Instead, I'd advocate that the right type of bread is a healthier option. Let's stay away from the processed, sodium infused fattening agents, shall we?

Wheat is a caloric filler embraced to keep people functioning when they were doing heavy labor all the time. It works great for someone like me who works in construction (and bikes to and from work, no less: a minimum of 12.5 miles every day I work), but office-bound or otherwise low-activity people are not being served by eating wheat when you can substitute something with more nutrients at a similar caloric hit. I can wrap a bun around some meat or have more meat. Seems pretty straight-forward. The only benefit I find to wheat is that it makes a it easy to hold food in my hand.

The average human body needs a certain amount of soluble and insoluble fibers to function correctly, and having a sandwich wrapped up in a bacon-weave isn't going to help that. Calories aren't the only thing to look for in a balanced diet.

I'd rather get my fiber by eating a pound of broccoli and the 150 calories that comes with it (to say nothing of ascorbic acid and a pleasant chemical that suppresses the production of estrogen). Insoluble fiber content in any kind of processed wheat is pretty poor.

I have grown out of any kind of electric dance gibberish or any country music made past the early 90's or so, but outside of that, I'm up for anything really. I don't care what I eat, never really have. I would be dead of some form of alcohol related disease had I not met my wife & started receiving at least a decent meal a day.
