Kid just got 2 years in prison and a 15 year suspension on his drivers license for texting while driving... he was texting and crossed over into oncoming traffic and took a guy out... Guy died 18 days later at th age of 55. Kid was 17 at the time and 18 now. seems like they made an example out of him instead of proper punishment. mixed thoughts on this one however... then again he could of got worse... 'Sixteen Candles' is still great. I tried watching 'Pretty In Pink' a couple of years ago. That didn't really hold either. Siren.Mosin said: » Lakshmi.Flavin said: » Also, Latin is lame... I don't text while driving at all. My BF does it, and it annoys the ever living crap out of me! Not what I meant at all, besides. You're busy with your executioner duties and all that.

I have an issue with holding a 17 year old to the same standards as an adult when they aren't allowed all of the same rights. 2 years in prison is a lot for a mistake when there's better and more constructive methods for punishment than to make a child into a career criminal, which is what 2 years in prison will do to him. basically he needs punished, (most the mental toll of it would be horrible enough) but this way doesn't do anyone any good. Since when am I overly girly? Crappo! I have tomboy tendencies still moseying around in me!

It was easier in the era of flip phones and before qwerty/virtual keyboards as I could do it with one hand and not take my eyes off the road, which I drive 1 handed anyway. (inb4 perverted joke). At seventeen you are able to comprehend laws and social norms that actual children can't. If you're laxed with someone that age, why not push it to twenty-one? There needs to be a defining line somewhere. I don't consider seventeen-year-olds children. That's just me though. Edit: probably the only useful thing to come out of the driving class I had to take to get my speeding ticket off my record was that "Most people don't even realize that the most dangerous thing they do every day is drive" Caitsith.Zahrah said: » Jetackuu said: » I have an issue with holding a 17 year old to the same standards as an adult when they aren't allowed all of the same rights. 2 years in prison is a lot for a mistake when there's better and more constructive methods for punishment than to make a child into a career criminal, which is what 2 years in prison will do to him. basically he needs punished, (most the mental toll of it would be horrible enough) but this way doesn't do anyone any good. trying to justify that 17-year-old boyfriend? Not going to date a person a decade younger than me. I find that creepy. Actually, not really attracted to people younger than me at all. Ask Jet about his ideas on statutory rape laws. When seventeen-year-olds have responsibilities such as driving, jobs, taking college preparatory or college courses, I believe they have the metal capacity to understand a simplistic instruction such as "No texting while driving!" |
