Yeah, I'm of the belief that getting someone's name is definitely bad news. The older generations it worked, because they stuck together through thick and thin. The newer generations bail at the first sign of trouble.
My Dad has my Mom's name tattooed on his chest. They were married until death parted them. Now he has a girlfriend (well has had, they have been together almost 3 years now). I can't imagine it being all that comforting seeing my Mom's name on his chest all the time.
I also have my Mom's name, but on my back, wrapped around vines with a pink ribbon :)
