I honestly have no suggestions for you at this point. It should either be your drivers or your power supply. The fact that it happened with two different OSs makes it hardware related, imo. Maybe something happened with your card (you replaced PSU, maybe it fried a very small something) at some point. FFXI has to be doing something to trigger it that other games don't.
The guy I had replace the powersupply said he checked and nothing was wrong and there was no obvious damage I could see. The whole reason replaced it cause the old one kinda had a melt down so yeah had to check. And it's not like this started happening right after it was a few months after the replacement

When it happens it tends to keep on happening in the same area/situation etc for awhile but if I leave come back the next day will be fine.
Also oddly doing stuff with a certain friend always does it it seems. Like I could farm for empyrean 3 days in a row nothing. Then pt with this other guy and bam keeps happening rinse repeat.

Oh your monitor loses input? I thought the screen was just going black not losing all input. That almost has to be your gpu. Does it have 2 plugs in the back? Try swapping the plug it's in, though since it's only doing it with xi that would be weird if that's the issue.
