I'm actually kind of curious now why it's vital to leave the gym within an hour after finishing your workout.
cortisol it mobilises amino acids from muscle tissue and sends them over to mr liver for gluconeogenisis, leaving you with glucose where that wonderful muscle tissue used to be not only that, it inhabits cellular rna synthesis, which means no protein synthesis(well reduced protein synthesis actually) for you 46 minutes is the magic number where your adrenal gland has pumped out enough cortisol to have a significant effect on muscle fibers past an hour, its a case of one step foward, two steps back
I'm confused as to how this relates to how long an exercise should go on and when it comes into matter of when you leave since I would think the effect is passive regardless of elapsed time. Perhaps I'm just confusing myself since it's 4 AM.

He is trying to sound smart by overwhelming you with an extract from wiki. Basically there is a window if you like for optimal muscle repair/refuelling post workout called the 'glycogen window'. Taking on recovery drinks or protein shakes during this time grants you the maximal effect for repairing and refuelling your body for the next workout.

by the way

while what you said is true

it was not a summary of what i said at all

I just don't get how leaving 46 minutes after a defined period of working out if the effect is passive after halting activity.

Is it just counter-productive to continue working out after stopping for 46 minutes or something?

Or how anyone not getting super huge is wasting their time? Seriously come on dude, you can't be in that much denial.

Oh okay. I had a feeling this tidbit was similar to the camping/hiking rule of take a very short break and continue or prepare to spend the entire night.

My only case of example was canoeing down the Chehalas river (sp?)
It applies to virtually any physical activity, rigorous or not.

because immediately after you work out you minimize the negative effects of cortisol

through a combination of protein and carbs, in liquid form

it's not necessarily that cortisol effect reaches its absolute destructive peak at 46 minutes

it's that if you leave and get that post workout shake in an hour or less, you can prevent the effects of cortisol from reaching their peak

there's no way to avoid exposure altogether--in fact, that would make you kinda dead

Meh. Doing something like that I'm a trudger lol. I've always been used to walking long time. Only difference to me between a 6 hour walk and a 30 min walk is you get smellier and your feet hurt more. Especially if I haven't done that long of one in a while and have like 40lbs on my back lol

So basically it's a time frame of protein consumption to aid recovery post workout as to minimalism the natural negative effect of cortisol, right?

The glycogen window is actually 20 minutes post workout if you want to maximise muscle recovery. More important than worrying about cortisol if you need to be recovered day in day out.

You actually called him and people like him a pussy, because he and those kind of people are what Weewoo was talking about.

And yeah I'm exaggerating the bodybuilder bit, but you said that anyone not doing the basics would look like me (not the only time you brought up what I look like) when there is no relevance between the two since I'm actually working out correctly but just started.

So actually no words in mouth thank you. Get your ***straight though. And stop trying to act like you didn't say ***you did over and over. It's getting old.

On that note I'm done with you as well.

they are seperate issues. your muscles are more receptive to amino acids, yes

spending three hours in the gym before getting in shape and experiencing myosin degeneration before the amino acid influx is going to make that window less effective

i love the way you're confidently declaring that the glycogen window is less more important than avoiding cortisol exposure

when you couldn't tell me what cortisol was when i asked you about it

It's become quite clear you have a base knowledge from lifting but you don't understand the academic side, you don't understand the science and biomechanics behind what you are talking about, your 'facts' are sketchy and your knowledge is, like I said, misinformed

no. asian dude knows how to lift. he's not what i was referring to at all, and very few people have the genetics to even look as good as asian dude without an understanding of the science behind lifting

i'm willing to bet asian dude would lol if you mentioned getting toned with high reps

i think i'm a bit ahead of asian dude but he's certainly in my league conditionwise

using you, since you have no extraordinary muscle development, as an example of what someone who worked out incorrectly would look like

a. has absolutely positively nothing to do with saying you should look like a bodybuilder in two weeks

b. is accurate, sorry your feelings are hurt

yes, words in mouth

ps oh no
