Final Fantasy XV
Or Vanille.

Hey, I actually ended up liking Penelo personality wise....sure she never healed me on time ever....but I don't think she deserves to be clumped in a group with Lightening.. Also..to me this game looks more exciting than FF13 ever did but I am so sick of modern-ish games. I really want a FF with castle towns and stuff again :( so much :( I loved the classic FF theme, and I still think they could pull it off. I don't think we are at a point where we can't appreciate a game like that anymore, but maybe I'm wrong :\ Why does everyone hate Lightning? I think she's great. She had great character growth from beginning to end. :(
I'm from that weird shunned section of the internet that liked lightning and vanille...

If you put Lightening, Cloud and Squall in a room together...
really I don't think anything would happen, they'd just stare at each other like "....whatever..." ----- I shouldn't judge tho right because I actually liked Vaan also Kalila said: » Explain why you like her, what exactly makes her your favorite? Why is she worthy as not only a character in a Final Fantasy game, but a main one. I thought that she fit well as a reluctant hero, broken by the fact that she hated L'cie, but then her sister becomes one, she then follows a path of confliction for wanting to save her sister, but uphold her duty, but then becomes a L'cie herself, making her struggle even more mentally tough. skipping a bunch, she eventually gains trust and can get 5 other people who have multiple reasons to hate eachother to fight together, and in the end is even willing to make the ultimate sacrifice if needed, though vanille and fang stepped in for that one shes not perfect, things like worst birthday ever and the scene where she explains why she goes by lightning were pretty stupid, but otherwise I enjoyed her character. and with XV, I just hope to see some balance between dudes n chicks, I generally prefer female characters Kujata.Daus said: » If you put Lightening, Cloud and Squall in a room together... really I don't think anything would happen, they'd just stare at each other like "....whatever..." ----- I shouldn't judge tho right because I actually liked Vaan also She was real. Her emotional growth from beginning to end of the story was as realistic as could be.
Having lost both parents, she felt the need to take on the responsibility of being said parents to Serah and she bit off a bit more than she could chew, especially after Serah was branded a l'Cie. I tend to do the same thing. I'm pretty confident in my abilities, but when something is a bit too much for me, I tend to shut others out of my life. It's something I need to work on, and this is really lame, but she kinda inspires me to be better about myself and my comrades. Keep them close, they'll help you. I also didn't care for my sister's husband because he used to be really homophobic, but he went through some chances and he's an alright guy now. She's also brash and cold and I am as well, sometimes for no reason. I really don't know why, it's just who I am. I'm under the sign of Aries. I sometimes think that astrology is lame, but as far as signs go and everything, everything under that constellation is me, lol. Also, she was one of the only American Voice-Overs I actually liked. Ali Hillis is a goddess. <3 She did wonderful portraying Lightning.
Matter of fact, the entire 13/13-2 cast did an amazing job of voice overs. Vanille to a bit to get used to, but. :) Kujata.Daus said: » Shiva.Viciousss said: » Or Penelo. I really want a FF with castle towns and stuff again :( I think Penelo is probably the most worthless character of all time. She literally served no purpose. Characters in general have taken a dive in every FF since 10. I wouldn't place anyone from X-2, 12, 13, or 13-2 in a top 10 list. I'd like to see better characters, but I dont expect it. What about Selphie? She was super useless
Sequels and DLC has been confirmed by Tetsuya Nomura.

Garuda.Finuve said: » I really think people misrepresent cloud like this, the dude was definitely moody at the beginning of the game, but he opens up pretty damn well, squall on the other hand... I was kinda sorda not entirely srs. One of my favorite past times is reading fanfic about Cloud with children. Adorable combination. --- Penelo was Vaans other half :( she was like the Fran to his Balthier. but yeah, FF12 was not as well developed as other FFs such as FF10. and imo, FF8 is one of my least favorite ffs..me and that game do not jive. Balthier..if FF12 had one thing going for it it was Balthier. I'd put him on a top 10 list. I don't care if its only because he has the occasional one liners and an awesome voice actor who knows how to voice act and has an awesome accent because to me that makes a good character. Not a lot of people liked 8 either for the junction system or the story. Most people just don't like love stories, haha. I like cheesey girly love stories (FFX! which I just youtube marathoned the other day and fell in love for the billionth time)
I don't know if it was the junction system that did it or not. I just remember playing it 3 times and screwing something up every single time...and I was only playing it through force of will "I bought this game, I'm going to play it!"...but I was pissed off the entire time. I mainly remember running through Esther and hating my life..the fact that I remember that cities name says something because I honestly can't even recall the story of the game..and I played it three times back to back trying to beat it (I kept having to reset the game for varying reasons..I missed summons and got stuck in Edens dungeon..etc...). this game had some sort of setup that I just could not compute. in any case Eyes on Me is still my favorite FF song. Julia~ <3 One of the most beautiful songs on piano. Ragnarok.Xenophire said: » Goes double for me, had most higher tier magic 100 junction before i even met Rhinoa. Meltdown was awsome early on. On that note, killing fish on beach for AP for hours and hours was a big waste of my life lol I played through FFVIII once. Never again. Even with a fight against Lv.100 Omega Weapon, that was kinda boring...
Eyes on Me was the ONE saving factor for me from FFVIII tho. I LOVED that song. Regarding Lightning + FFXIII: I'd easily put here in top 5 main characters in a FF game for sure. Her backstory and what she goes through within the story really attached me to her, the voice acting was great as well for her. Looking forward to Lightning Returns, tho still need to finish 13-2 yet I'd put her above Vaan and thats it.

VIII started off promising, but then just kind of tanked storywise. I remember being in college and playing Triple Triad online. I hated the card game in 9. Though slightly off topic/on topic... the worst character voice ever in anything award goes to Sarah from Star Ocean: TLH. I had to include her in the party as she was the best healer. I didnt mind Vanielle. I'll buy XV... but i really do miss a good turn based JRPG. Mistwalker, where are you? (please dont say making a sequel to blue dragon) Phoenix.Dinah

Character-wise...
5. Balthier 4. Lightning 3. Cid (FF7) 2. Terra 1. Celes I just hate it when the main characters get so emo that it makes them borderline lame. I get that there is a big cultural impact during the translation from Japanese to English, so some of the ways that the characters are portrayed get misconstrued. XV looks to be no exception from this, as the emo-ver is strong with this one. Honestly, what I miss more than anything is the lightheartedness that older FF games portrayed. The humor was a big factor in the past. Ultros for example...he could be a pain in the *** boss battle if you let it, but it had that vibe of unseriousness for a moment that made you somewhat ENJOY getting your face shoved into the dirt a few times until you beat him. They were able to accomplish this while still keeping the serious overtones in play for the majority of the game. (Not to mention, I miss the 16-bit sprites with their eyes popping out of their heads in intense moments... I'll let Edgar here show you an example... Anyway, the point is, I think the FF series is getting TOO serious. That and I want to snowboard on my way to defeat an evil villian again. Just sayin'. |
