Greetings, immortals.

You'll be happy to know that we do indeed have additional blue magic adjustments planned, and below is a message from Akihiko Matsui about what is in the works for blue mage.

Matsui here.

I’d like to share some information about blue magic adjustments that are being planned.

In the July version update, we made it so that the damage value for physical blue magic spells increases depending on the combat skill value found on your main weapon. However, the development team feels it necessary to make additional adjustments to the power of blue magic spells.

With that said, in the fall version update we are planning to make adjustments so that the attack power of physical blue magic spells also increases depending on the combat skill value of your main weapon.

We’re also working towards adding new blue magic spells in the fall version update as well. We’ll be announcing details on this once we are at the stage where we can share.

Does this mean blue magic will be useful or will our blue magic attack still be too low?

will still be low unless they implement additional measures.

Prothescar said:
One skill is never .9 attack, it will more than likely be 1 if they go that route. Wouldn't mind an extra multiplier tacked onto it for good measure since to reach any reasonable attack score for most Adoulin things you'd need over 300STR on top of 5/5 Physical Potency merits (to break 1k, you need around 500STR).

Blue Magic skill + MH weapon skill * 1.5 + 8 + STR/2 would work just fine

It looks like its going to be SoA specific spells that will make previous spells obselete and potentially making unbridled learning a useless job ability: i.e more powerful spells from higher level mobs. Hopefully there will be an attempt to keep Unbridled relevant by having WKR/Delve moves learnable in some capacity.

Will know if they will be stronger when we actually get them after update cause you know how SE likes to gimp em down a lot.

Attack problems aside, most of our high level spells aren't necessarily weaker than the monster versions. As long as their new offerings give strong ratio bonuses, we should be in a decent spot when considering the simultaneous attack update. Hopefully they reconsider the STR->Attack ratio as well, as keeping only one physical damage source as 2:1 is pretty stupid.

I've more or less moved on from XI but, I would love to see the new spells and use them firsthand before fully retiring my character. Hopefully they are useful and worthwhile. :)

I'd be fine with them not being any cheaper as long as they are dual purpose.

It was kinda mean to ever make us set Mortal ray.

was kinda fun watching how many noob BLU died trying to get that one XD

I used to bring blu and just watch em from a distance hehe......

But yes i agree it is a WASTE of a SPELL (due to not being very Effective on HNM / Mega Bosses) also we need NEW SPELLS that are Over POWERED :D

Make BLU shine like it did when it came out 1st.

Other than the couple missing killer traits, what traits is BLU missing? Maybe higher tiers that make some of them worth setting.

Maybe higher tiers for auto refresh/regen or higher tripe attack trait or quad, yeah I'm only foreseeing boosts to already added traits or maybe traits from GEO or RUN, I just want them to make BLU more useful in current endgame content :-/ as a main BLU I missed out on SoA stuffs lol

BLU needs a cheaper DWIII setup or JT's that involve useful spells. Now that we're seeing many of our spells hitting the D cap we need to replace them with higher damage versions and don't have the available points to do so.

BLU constantly misses out on good spells by relying on traits from crappy spells. 90+ got a number of good spells for said traits, but ideal DD spellsets have been pretty locked in. Cheaper DW3, a trait to directly boost the damage cap on blue magic, maybe some effective killer traits (currently there are no killer traits for many of the SoA mobs). Killer and affinity traits are wildly underutilized in FFXI considering how powerful they can be.

Well the circle update was pretty insane. I feel in order to make killer traits worth a damn they need to be a direct damage increase, between 5 and 10% would be a really solid number. Would make strategy about more then throwing the current *best* DD at it.

Insofar as it's "strategic" to use dragoons for angon. This game will never be complex; I don't suggest hoping for it

BASED ON THE GOOGLE TRANSLATE FROM A BIT AGO WE ARE NOW ACCEPTING BLUE MAGES. ya gotta go through the panda man cause we busy with that 14 thing til update actually comes.

Blue Magic:

Quote:
Nature's Meditation: Attack boost (or something)
Tempestuous Upheaval: AOE wind
Rending Deluge: AOE water + dispel
Embalming Earth: aoe earth + slow
Paralyzing Triad: 3hit + paralyze
Glutinous Dart: Damage varies with TP
Retinal Glare:light damage + flash (i'm assuming it's this one, i couldn't think of another light damage + flash)
Foul Waters: Water damage + Drown

UL:
Droning Whirlwind: Wind damage + Dispel
Carcharian Verve: attack, magic attack, spell interupt rate down
Blistering Roar: Fire damage, Terror and "can not be paralyzed"
I have yet to see the source document, and the UL's supposedly can only be learned in Delve. But they're the Auras so its not like that will be an issue except for maybe Tojil since people have their hang ups about Blu in Morimar.

Considering Tojil can be 10 manned with relative ease now... This shouldn't be an issue.

nature's meditation could be a weak *** magiwari effect or something, or a 5% chance immunity to any offensive action taken towards the blu for duration?

would be disappointed if all it is, is attack+

Maybe its Attack and Defense bonus?!

The japanese says it's a self targeted attack up.

ネイチャーメディテイト : Natures Meditation
自身の攻撃力をアップする : One's own attack up.
