On rng, what does capped attack looks like. Does level correction applies for Adoulin nms? Would it be relevant to cap Fsrt2, say, in two or three slots and stacks some R.att and R.acc?

I'm looking toward delve bee as well, my ls if finally making me take out my rng!

Edit: then again, I was thking about Uk'Uxkaj Cap, and that would mean to drop relic+2 hat, so is a big nono I guess...

fSTR2 is hard to cap on these NMs even with gun. There's no level correction. For capped attack, are you asking how much attack you need? Varies by NM of course, but 4 minuets, chaos, and RCB is enough to cap for me on pretty much anything. Bosses are easier to cap since you'll have SV.

ALso, if they end up adding +marks skiil, say on Anni, how does that change the ranged dmg math? Trying to think ahead of R/M/E update gearwise.

They are adding marks to illapa and donderbuss currently. 1 marks = 1 attack. It actually won't affect damage much since pdif is easy to cap regardless. It should allow you to eat RCB on everything though (1 marks = 0.9 accuracy as far as I know).

They're adding + Combat Skill to all weapons with item level of over 100, this means the delve weapons aswell. Surefire and Splooge bow getting +162 skill each

Oh yeah, forgot about surefire. I'd try to work toward donderbuss if possible as they have quite a large discrepancy between combat skills. Ormolu ingots can be a pain to come by, though. Other option is echidna's bow.

Okay did some quick math, mainly because I hate having to choose between BLU and RNG for manibozho augments.

Manibozho jerkin R15 AGI path is the best body for last stand if pDIF is not capped. If pDIF is capped, khepri and kheper are better.

Legs are now fairly useless for RNG unless you're still inclined to use coronach. /DRG and last stand works fine for me with donderbuss.

Feet are definitely the best last stand piece for now. It looks like the skirmish feet will be better though.

Hands are poop for RNG.

Head is poop if you have whirlpool/hurkan head.

In conclusion: don't feel bad about STR path for manibozho jerkin if you have kheper/khepri. STR path for boots will gimp RNG slightly, though, but not majorly. Up to you whether you want to augment them for the few weeks before new skirmish.

trying to reshuffle some WS merits right now - considering lowering Last Stand and perhaps even using just Coronach on 99 gun.

SO questions are

Can i lose Last Stand all together and if not whats the lowest level merit you can get away with where it still makes it better than Coronach at events where you would use just Last Stand

the above is assuming you are using plasma bullets on WS

Path A for surefire, especially after update.

Curious if Ocachi Gorget is useful at all now also, but figuring if acc not needed than attack isn't either. dunno tho

I use Ocachi Gorget for a anything outside of Adoulin for a TP neck. Probably unnecessary but whatever.

I read your new section but I'm surprised to hear that you weren't able to achieve the desired effect through adjusting castdelay. Did that not work out?

1/5 if using surefire/donderbuss. Their higher base damage will outperform coronach.

Depends on the mob. I usually just do it whenever high jump is up. The other option is to put WHM in the RNG party and treat them like melees.

Yeah, I use it for TP. It has store TP on it also which is probably more useful than the attack a lot of the time.

It has nothing to do with the delay really. If the game lags, like it does all the time in delve, the /shoot occasionally does not fire immediately, and then the midcast gear will try to equip during the preshot phase, because it believes you've already begun your shot. Thus, you end up shooting in your preshot gear, or an admixture of preshot/midshot gear. If I increase the delay any further I'll start shooting in precast gear when rapid shot procs.

Using a macro forces the game to perform the action and equip the gear at the same time, so there's no room for error.

So i been messing around with Hurkan on ranger lately and still deciding if i will change my merits around to fit in last stand. I have had 0 issues with slug shot's accuracy so for the time being i am trying to improve slugshot. That being said which body would be best Mani. Jerkin RATT R15 or Sylvan Caban +2?

Just wanted comment on this. In any situation where you find yourself with at least 2 rangers staggering their decoy shots in order to maintain it full time on a solid tank, you can play very aggressively by subbing war with a donderbuss.

Caban if pDIF uncapped*, otherwise manibozho. Kheper/khepri is best.

This works on regular NMs. I never have issues pulling hate on pre-boss fodder. Bosses are an entirely different story. It's very easy to cap hate when you're weapon skilling for 14k vs. bee, or 9-10k vs. shark/tojil. I'm almost 100% positive that you will pull hate /WAR vs. bee if you're playing "aggressively" as you suggest. I've done it enough times that I stopped using /WAR.

The other reason not to use /WAR is that you simply don't need to. It's easy enough to cap pDIF without it. The only real benefit you get from it is fencer and maybe some extra STR. It makes much more sense (at this point in time) to use /DRG.

*corrected

Edit:

I will say though that you can treat RNG like every other DD and just go balls to the walls with a WHM for support. Could even survive vs. hurkan with enough magic evasion. If you have the opportunity to do this, /WAR works fine. Just make sure to have a DT set to swap into.

I disagree with you on the /war hate management, i don't think it would it be much different on the 3 nm's you mentioned. For the following reasons. I think you are underestimating what stacked/staggered decoy setups do for ranger hate. The fights themselves are very short stun locked fights that give a major advantage to highly buffed capped delay melee's in regards to holding the mobs attention.

Lets take the bee for example the prime area for ranger to shine imo. Let's say you had 4 rangers in the alliance with 3 dragoons. As long as you staggered out the decoy shots so there would be no cool down on one of the dragoons(no soul/high jumps for him). That bee would never move and while yes your rangers weaponskills are destroying him and quite possibly making him want to move towards your rangers i can confidently say that bee would stay glued with the right dragoons.

I know you already commented on it but one of my grips is that ranger is still viewed as some job that is forbidden to ever pull hate or take a hit. The gears that are available now have made all jobs far from 1 shot material.

In regards to capped pDif and your experiences i wont disagree as my experience with ranger these days are limited.

But i will say this in the situations i have found myself playing ranger i have never seen berserk not do something for my damage i am aware there could be many reasons for this for example not having the perfect buffs or debuff's on. Just having a hard time believing that you would reach a point where beserk would add nothing to your dmg(current mobs), correct me if im wrong but thats what i took from what you said.

Just did 2 bees, damage was exactly the same with berserk as it was without. I went /DRG the first fight, then /WAR the second because we had WHM. Certainly pulled hate with /WAR but it wasn't a problem. I just stood in melee range and continued fighting.

Your decoy shot analysis might work if 4 RNGs are all paying attention and lined up perfectly. Hard for me to find more than 2 good RNG, though. Most have no idea what they're doing. I prefer just going /DRG for the extra safety, and it has no impact on my damage post-update.

Just for reference: capped damage per shot vs. bee was 2002 for me, both with berserk up/down. /DRG or /WAR made no difference. Last stand was 13250 without sweet spot. My damage on the other NMs was capped as well. We use 5 minuets, chaos, and indi-fury.

Last stand last 25%: 6570 - almost exactly -50% DT.

Capped pDIF with /DRG:

Hard to find good SS with more than 2-3 shots, but, as you can see, damage is a constant 2002 (capped). The second shot is a double shot proc (2002*2).

Still dagger. Aphotic's 16 STR can't be beat except when /SAM.

I'm actually going to try /SAM tonight. Berserk is no longer needed, and RNG is far from weak (defense-wise) with this new gear. Did 3 more bees last night with WHM in the party and I just stood in melee range for all the fights. Butterflies can be annoying with para and knockback, though.

For /SAM I'd probably use Bryoja's staff.

Quick question. I havent touched RNG since 75 and My LS has been in need of more RNGs for killing the Delve Bee so Ive been taking it up again.

I am wondering which is better? Apex Arrow / Bow Path? or Last Stand / Gun path? My gut is telling me Gun cuz it has a much shorter sweet spot than Bow and there wont be much flex room in Delve, but is the Sweet Spot big enough a deal to make the bow weaker than the gun? or is it truely a preference thing?

Thank you for your time
