typical JSE capes needed on RNG:

1. Snapshot+10

2. AGI+30 racc/ratk+20 STP+10 (Standard TP cape)

3. AGI+30 racc/ratk+20 WSD+10 (Standard WS cape)

4. AGI+30 macc/mdmg+20 WSD+10 (Trueflight/Wildfire)

----
additional "desirable" capes depending on situational needs:

5. AGI+30 racc/ratk+20 Crit Rate+10% (Armageddon/Gandiva Aftermath TP Cape)

6. DEX+30 racc/ratk+20 Crit Rate+10% (Jishnu's Radiance)

7. DEX+20 acc/atk+30 STP+10 (melee cape)

Unless you’ve got near perfect aug on herc, relic would probably be tough to beat. At the very least you’d want 15 ago/4 wsd. Since I only have 20 racc 4 wsd and I can’t do relic yet, meghanada +2 is what I use

I have a herc vest w/ AGI+15, racc+26, WSD+3 that I'm very happy with. I also have one with AGI+8/WSD+5, but the raw damage is darn close between these two, and considering that, I opt to ride with the racc one.

comparing the first one to relic+3 body:

Herc Vest/ Arcadian Jerkin+3
AGI 45 / 43
racc 41 / 40
ratk 0 / 65
WSD 3 / 0

Factoring in that most times that I'm on RNG I'm going to be attack capped, its not much of a choice for me. For reference, the AF+3 body fares even worse against it- 40 AGI, 40 ratk, and 60 racc, and we honestly don't need that crazy amount of racc for pretty much anything these days...some yes, but no sense in sacrificing damage when you don't need to go to that extreme.

Interesting.

I have a herc body with 5 agi/20 racc/4 wsd that I haven't been using because I felt like I was getting more out of Meghanada. I should probably reevaluate that.

My current body is so so. Benefits Coronach more than LS.
Dex+6 ratk +15, racc +25 WSDMG+4.

Honestly shouldn't STR between the two be a factor as well?

9 STR difference between Her/Relic +3

When you're talking about WSs that have a str mod like on SAM, it takes about 5 STR to equal 1% WSD. RNG WSs at most have a 20% STR mod with the exception of Refulgent Arrow. So theoretically, 1% WSD should negate at least the STR difference between the pieces.

I think strength factors into every physical ws other than atonement. fSTR is technically a modifier.

Yes it is, and I factored that in my estimate that 1% WSD would more or less negate a 9 str deficit on a RNG ws (Except Refulgent Arrow).

I haven't really looked into fSTR since I stopped playing a long time ago but I remember it being definitely to some other modifiers like in coronach.

I mean I didn't math it out. But here are some rough estimates because I don't have concrete numbers.

Fail-Not + Chrono Arrow = 440 base damage. Assume ~200 base str on WS. fSTR bonus = 100. This part is wrong, but even so you should be able to get an fSTR of at least 30-40. Lets say 30 So base damage is 470.

9 more STR = 4 or 5 base damage. which is right at 1% of the base damage. I'm not even factoring AGI yet.

Anything that doesn't have a STR Mod already wins with 1% WSD. I mean, I could go on an math out real data, but it seems like there is no point.

A 20% STR mod would at another 1-2 base damage to a WS, but the base damage would also be increased by 20% of 200 already.

Edit: No gun WS has a str mod. Most bow WS have a 20% mod. Apex Arrow and Jishnu's don't have a str mod. Refulgent has a 60% STR mod.

SOrry, I know it is asked fairly regularly, but what are you guys using as a lua? Mine is Verda's (It's quite a mess), but it has some interesting features, like weapons/range weapons swapping, autoshoot, etc.

I'm looking for something along the same lines, but a bit more recent. Thanks!

Just to be sure... is it confirmed that Arcadian body's ability to occasionally proc Double Shot with Snapshot merits (regardless of whether JA is active) cannot proc on WS? I wouldn't think it makes Double Shot able to affect WS, but it's a weird piece and I don't think I've seen anyone test it.

I haven't played a ton of RNG on super high end content since the Physical Damage Limit trait was added... so how much harder are people finding it to hit attack cap these days? PDF+0.3 from trait and up to 0.10 from +2 JSE neck (or .08 from +1 neck) is quite a bit.

If you're capping, what kinds of buffs/content are we talking about? Like, say, what are we looking at for Dynamis wave 3 (or wave 2 bosses)? Any examples of situations where you're still typically finding yourself uncapped despite decent buffs?

that's a darn good point and one I wasn't factoring in (the changes to "physical damage limit"). I'll start more actively paying attention while on RNG and properly buffed to be able to tell. Oh, and a mild update, finally getting some decent straight MAB augs on some new herc gear to test Trueflight while buffed vs. a more balanced MAB/WSD set. Looking forward to the results.

Job point category prioritization. Which categories should be invested in first?

A lot of them have limited benefit, Shadowbind Duration has some niche usability, actually good for this month's ambus after killing blm.

Can probably swap Velocity and Decoy too

as with most outdated stickies on this site, the original creators and thus those with the rights to made changes have moved on to other things/games/life. In the case of the Ranger Sticky, the original writer is from many years back and as far as my knowledge, hasn't played in over 4 years (this was passed on to me from Verda, who roamed the RNG forums and gave out great advice for a long time).

I'm thrilled that a true, modern RNG guide will be soon part of this subforum, and as it did in the COR subforum, will be able to focus discussion in a singular thread for most issues players will have.

I have/had one mostly made from the COR sticky but it's just hoovered up stuff from your various threads. Only thing left was plugging in all the gear sets.
