New Xbox Generation Revealed 21st May At 6pm.

First party games almost always stay exclusive. That said, it will indeed be interesting to see if they can churn out 15 games next year. I bet at least 4 of them get delayed.

Sony didn't have an event it was more like a brain fart.It's all about games E3 should be super interesting. I bet Sony is panicking right now and changing everything for E3!I bet Sony's stock drops 100 points!

Should even see on facebook, people whining how ugly it looks. When Sony didn't show their console, people whined.

So i'm a little late catching up on all the new xbox stuff today... I havnt read all the posts made so far so i hope i'm not repeating anything that was allready mentioned. BUT WTF KEY CODES..... PS will probably follow this idea as well. They do realize this little code alone will pretty much shut down a massive portion of game stores. Do they not realize game stores only make money off buying and reselling used games/gear?

Microsoft have came with names that have a meaning for Xbox. 360 as a 360 degree circle. One means Apps/TV/Gaming/Internet/Voice Commands all in one.

Its a stupid name tbh. There were strong rumors that it was going to be called Xbox Infinity, which would have been a better choice for Microsoft's 3rd console. I think people will continue to refer to it as Xbox. I mean sometimes I say 360, but I will never say "One."

Only thing I'm even remotely excited about is the Cloud Computation potential, but that has its own drawbacks. Any game with CC support would immediately require an always-online connection, and probably high-end bandwidth/speed requirements.


It really is looking more and more like I'll switch my flag to Sony, but I just really hate their controller...

They spent an hour showing off gimmicks, games we've already played, pre-rendered cinematics, and a few things that I can see appealing to some, but let's be honest... It's Microsoft, we all know each of these gimmicks will require subscriptions... How many people that you know are willing to jump at new subscriptions?

When Microsoft took over Skype they took things that were free and made them premium-only... The new Office Suite is riddled with subscription-based services... XboxLive has always required a subscription... This new console will be no different, it'll just be a subscription monster.

The funniest part is how they keep insisting that they were the first in various areas... As if we don't know about other consoles and gaming companies... Oh really? Xbox was the first to offer motion controls? Do tell... Don't forget to insert some random series titles that are popular with your targeted consumer base while you're at it. OMG YOU LIKE GAME OF THRONES TOO!? ::swoons:: I love being a mindless consumer!

It will go back down once Sony releases new information on how their new console will be able to wirelessly flush your bathroom toilet using the immense cloud computing capabilities of the Playstation Cloud complete with powerpoints and bar graphs.

Everyone should start publicly bitching about how much of a disappointment the Xbox One is, just to see how they react.

well, I personally am not really sure what people were expecting, it's a hardware revealing.

They're doing this so they can get all the technical stuff out of the way, so they don't have to cover that come E3 and can talk about the games and such

There was only one section in the entire hour presentation that mentioned hardware... the part about the camera that will come with the console, which had already been revealed, and a brief introduction to the exact same controller they've always had with a slight update. The rest of it was just a bunch of pomp about their partners and their plans... ::waves hands around like a wizard:: WE HAVE A CLOUD!! Congrats, my shitty $150, 3yr old netbook can connect to a cloud too... WE CAN CONNECT TO YOUR TELEVISION!! ::coughs::

This "gaming" console is a glorified, overpriced, media PC...

can get a media PC for $35

again, it's a hardware reveal, they're showing things the hardware can do. How dare their console more then just play games, how dare they have content planned out and long term goals! ?

I'm also on the meh side. While I like the idea of a basically modern HD quick TV interface, its not the kind of thing I look at a gaming console for. And if I'm going to look at it as a form of watching TV, I'd immediately complain about the interface. Less clutter. I don't want any of this "trending" or links to other shows up front. I want to start the Xbox with one button and have Cable on screen, and THEN I can choose to bring up an channel browsing interface. But then I still wouldn't want a whole crazy interface like they have now.

Everything aside from the couple CoD shots looked like pre-rendered cutscenes which, in my opinion, is not a good way to start off. Games these days look so good it doesn't seem like there is a reason to use these CG trailers unless you're afraid people won't think it looks fancy enough.

I'll be getting both as soon as I can but right now I like the position Sony is taking. I do far prefer my PS3 to my 360 as well.

thats fine and all. Just don't market it as a gaming device, which in all fairness, they seemed to not be doing.

So yeah, I guess those that want a gaming console will go else where.

Hypothetical situation:
Two brothers living in the same home share a game console. They also only buy one copy of the game, as they are always playing at different times (since they only have 1 console). However, they have different Xbox Live accounts, as the account is where your saves are separated. So let's say Ned puts in the brand new game and installs it, then plays it. Now Ned goes off to do his thing elsewhere and Sam comes along, logs into his account, pops in the game (same console, different account), and "Pay additional fee to install-game already used on another account."

Then I see Ned and Sam packing the system up, selling it, and buying some other game system.

I could also see Mom say "Ned, don't you turn the Xbox on." Oops, she said 'Xbox on' and turned it on. Dang, why did it do that? Oh yea, Kinect.

Sam is blasting away and beats a boss, then heads off to save. Ned (or Mom) comes in and says "Time to turn the Xbox off." .. wait... 'Xbox off'? ... NOOOO my game wasn't saved!

This console will likely sell a lot. It's better than the Wii-U. But:

1: A Game console should focus on Games (not TV, Windows, and IE--cool to add them as extra features, but focus on the games first)
2: Kinect is a joke.
3: If it was built from the ground up, the controller would be innovative (and not very similar to the 360 controller), and there wouldn't be Kinect either


All in all, a few good ideas... but it sounds like they need to have some gamers tell them how those ideas will cause problems in real life use.

(for added context, all one games must be completely installed to the HDD, yet you are stuck with 500GBs)

I think I'll stick primarily with PC gaming and get a PS4 for exclusives
