I'm still dubious about Sony's claim of 8GB 5.5GHZ DDR5, that kind of memory is usually reserved for the most blisteringly powerful GPU's on the market.
Also I find it hilarious that people that are the most tech swavy and can post on blogs, twitter and webpages for hours a day are the people being most offended by a 24 hour online check.
Yeah, the people who can't get online and *** about it have tons of blogs and twitter posts about how they're totally cool with it.
owait...

All the more reason why they should use it.
But right now the final specs of both machines haven't been officially released, correct?

Microsoft dodged the question mostly, though details are leaking in slowly.
Nobody has really had a good look at the PS4. The best tech breakdown of both consoles is this.
Without factoring in the potential of Cloud Computing, the PS4 as advertised will be about 50% Stronger than the XboxOne, though we don't know what the AMD Jaguars are running at. Most think 1.6GHZ but they should work in both the PS4/One configuration at up to 2.0GHZ according to the article.

It's honestly an age old argument not even worth fighting about anymore concerning XBO vs PS4. People are obviously set in their ways and biased from a start concerning what they expected.
Personally as a gamer I plan to get both. The longevity that both consoles offer will more than pay for itself in the long run.
I will openly admit that the current articles claiming the 24 hour internet check in as well as paying a fee to install a game previously installed is quite undesirable. These details are obviously circulated prematurely and E3 will give us more information on what to expect in the long haul (hopefully something a little better).
I had to sit and evaluate the use of my current xbox 360 which I've come to love quite a good bit. I do actually use my xbox to utilize not only gaming but apps, music, tv series and small things such as indi/arcade games and general news/popular trends. This new transition and direction as well as the presentation was directed more toward people of my type which probably represents a large part of their target audience. I only ever switch off the HDMI to watch TV and as it stands I feel pretty excited about what XBO is bringing to the table in terms of everything I just mentioned.
I can start next by admitting I haven't had a good relationship with Playstation since the PS2. I disliked the PS3 early on beacuse of a direct lack of games I was interested in. Sony lost many exclusives and I just geninuely didn't care for the PS Vita. I owned it for quite some time and never enjoyed it at all.
As it currently stands in my eyes the PS4 looks a little bit more powerful and geared more toward gaming as it's focus. The XBO looks to gear at the multitasking aspect with more focus on user experience and applications rather than gaming. I would agree that it brings up a media center type approach. All in all though it will be interesting to watch E3 this year finally.

Xbox usually has very poor E3 showings where they talk about things most gamers really don't care about.
Unless you really love Halo/Gears of War/Forza, you are better off just getting a PC than an xbox if you have no interest in sony or nintendo exclusives.
Yes, yes, they said "15 new exclusives in the first year!" but how many of those will just be kinect type games? They have a lot of exclusives now if you count their Kinect games but hardly anyone really cares about those.

You with all the times MS's and Sony's system have died I must say both Nintendo and Sega made systems that last.
I somehow managed to BURN the color out of my SNES. Playing FFIII (VI really) in black and white was rather... annoying.

I assume that if you have already bought the ps1/3 game on psn then you can play it for free through their stream. or they could just make it to where all psPlus members get streaming ps1,2,3 games for free. or a monthly fee. who knows. hopefully E3 will clarify

:/ I never remember having to blow in my Genesis cartridges or Super Nintendo cartridges to get them to work, just the NES ones.
Sometimes my genesis would freeze and i always just cleaned the cartridge. idk if that was the issue but I was young.

Oh god, if they made Banjo 3...
but this is New School Rare we're talking about, I'm sure it'll be a let down, and be some *** like 'Grabbed by the Ghoulies 2' :P
...wouldn't mind a Kameo 2 though, that was probably the last good anything Rare relased...

In the end each console isn't strictly better than another, it's how you use each one that determines your preferences.
Considering I get way more use out of my Xbox 360 than my PS3 I think I'm going for the XBO. Only reason I have a PS3 is for Tales of Graces f and Tales of Xillia. The PS3's UI is just terrible IMO, compared to the Xbox 360's. The exclusive games for Xbox 360 are also more for me.
I also love the controller for the 360 way more than the PS3's and from the looks of things the same thing for be for the XBO vs PS4. I also love my Kinect and can't wait for a version that works even better. Sony had a chance to buy the tech for it before MS and instead they went for the Wii knockoff with glowing wands.

Mine for the most part couldnt be helped... wasnt just ffvi also... i remember i rented a fighting game called either fighters history or world heroes... and that was black and white also... as was Aerobiz, Inindo, Illusion of Gaia, secret of mana, and the many other games i had.
The silver lining... when i tried to trade it in to a video game store (because i am a bad person) for credit... was the one time it worked in color long enough for them to accept it.
The funny part was i tried it on multiple tv's at home and all of them were in black and white...
go figure.
I used the system a LOT... so part of me can totally understand.

Exactly what I thought and I'm glad I'm not the only one to think that way.. The console wars are pretty much over and done for the longest time now. WiiU, XBO and PS4 have branched to different target audiences and excel in what they do individually. I honestly like them all to a point though.

I'm a bit late here, but what is this "used game" crap? You mean I can't play a game I go and buy at GameStop if it's used?

Unless you pay a fee.
They're looking to phase out retailers anyway. All-digital is the next step.

Looks like retro gaming is the way of the future.
Did the PSPgo teach Sony nothing?

You'd think. It's business though, and all they care about is their overhead. They don't consider that penny-pinching practices jade their customers, and that's one of the driving components of piracy.

was it discussed already about them not allowing third party developer content to be sold (you know... like minecraft...)
that's pretty much *** ***, they're showing us more and more they don't care about gamers, or indie developers (which in a sense is becoming more and more popular nowadays... and a big source of income...)

I'll just replay my old games.
Anyone going to watch this just to see what Microsoft are going to do? I personally love to see if Xbox offers better or not against the PS4. Just 6 more days until the reveal!
You can watch it in the link below or watch it on Xbox Live.
(US Xbox Website)
(EU Xbox Website)
Also you can watch on Spike TV.
