Well, there was no reason to think your 90 weapons would be relevant forever anyway. Don't think anyone is going to cry over incomplete prestige weapons being outclassed. Not sure if this was directed at me, but I agree with the statement. I just don't think outlandishly claiming Tomonari beats Masa by 4k damage is the way to go about it.
I didn't mean that to be a harsh or critical statement.

I'm sure they're gonna boost RME's. Seriously you can't just release 145 DMG Damascus Bullets(which have higher DMG than 99RME's and these are just the bullets, not even counting the Gun damage) and then not boost RME's. Damascus+Annihilator is 221 DMG, which is more than 65 DMG over 99Apoc, the second highest base dmg weapon in the game. Does not compute.

All this rage when half the R/M/Es aren't even that good. Where is the canned rage for those Nagi owners? Murgleis? Gastrophetes? Claustrum? Hvergelmir? Rhongomiont? Redemption? I can feel the 'ultimate' in ultimate weapons when the Coribri Scythe unleashes Quietus upon the unsuspecting target or Cloudsplitter is fielded. Yeah. Ultimate weapons! Gambateinn fk yeah.
I remember back at 75 when a certain ENM GKT was kicking Amanomurakumo on hardmode (none of this solo dyanmis ***) and was a couple mil off the AH. Oh and when Yoichinoyumi was the ***and Annihilator was for those fools who didn't realize the RNG nerf (which wasn't a nerf moreso patching sheer broken) meant the job was garbage. Oh oh and that Ragnarok used to be ***too and then it went and usurped Apocalypse from the throne of shiny golden phallic weapons.

PLDs who got Aegis back when Dynamis was a srsbsns, call-your-house if you don't show up to runs got a rude awakening when their weapon and tanking went extinct, I'd be run off this forum if I said RDM would become useless a few years back, EXP parties got plowed under for AFKbyssea, my precious Damascus Ingots are now food for a Ranger to shoot at an enemy and the beat goes on. The total manhours to get an "ultimate" weapon has dropped significantly from the days of gulag Dynamis anyway.

This was done in Aldoulin, as as said above, abyssea is a dumb place to try and parse the data.
Taking into account Masamune is 4 hit, and had 1 rediculously weak ws. The 90 Masamune still wins...

There's really nothing particularly interesting in the JP post, except that when they say "strengthening by other methods" (方法による強化) seems to imply that they won't be implementing any process to strengthen them ("We are not thinking about strengthening via Magian Trials or any other process.")
That was my impression when I read the translated version as well. The way they referred to Magian trials themselves as "enhancement," I figured that by "not enhancing them" they meant that they weren't planning on creating Magian trials or the like, not that they wouldn't be adjusting the weapons at all. There would be no point to go on and differentiate between the weapons and the instruments/shields that are already at top tier (thus not needing adjustment) if that were the case. It's nice to see that somewhat supported by the original JP post. Thanks for sharing that.

This, basically. My only R/M/E is the Ryunohige that I'll have in a couple of weeks. (I don't count my Armageddon, because lol85 and I have no plans on upgrading it anytime soon.) I'd really love to get into PUP/MNK a lot more, but I don't begrudge anybody their advantage if they have 99 Verethragna/Kenkonken. If they earned their place at the top, I'd rather they kept it. If I want to reap the greatest rewards, then I have no issue with needing to put in the greatest effort... And if not, well then I'd be happy to settle for something like Tlpalololololol if/when they decide to update R/M/E.

My blu is still able to equip narse and rebus gear. Even if i mog house switch jobs and back to blu. Even though blu name is gone. Is it like this for others. I am not complaining.

So true. When people say E/R/M are becoming useless, they usually mean only the Ukons and their Ragnaroks. It's hilarious considering more than half of the so called ultimate weapons have been completely useless for years.
Unless ALL E/R/M become useful or needed in some way or form, then I really couldn't care less if the new weapons overshadow them.

I get what you're trying to say. Out of all WEAPONS, there are a fair number that are pretty much garbage. But if you consider all the JOBS, almost all of them have either an R, E, or M as their best weapon. And at this point in the game, when all the available legendary/prestige weapons have been out for a long time, you don't really have any excuse for picking one of the ones that's garbage. If you went through all the trouble of building the weapon without doing the research, that's your own fault.
Rhongomiont may be garbage, for example, but Ryunohige is still DRG's best weapon. There are very few jobs who don't have one (or more) of the three legendary/prestige weapons as their best weapon(s). The only ones I can really think of are BLM, SCH, and RDM*. WHM may not have a full-time piece, but their mythic is still the best for -na spells.
*Including it because I'm not really considering melee RDM.

People wouldn't bother to invest time on useless R/E/M to begin with, but they already invest time on useful R/E/M. Overshadow an already useless R/E/M is different from overshadow an useful one.

I guess you can argue all gear needs an upgrade eventually. Many people (based on history) just assumed weapons would be immune to this barring new legendaries.
It's all about opinion at this point. How do you balance progress without undermining the work of your playerbase? I always thought gear upgrades being fluid and weapons remaining constant was a good balance. The dev team might be going a different way.

I feel like I might need a flame-retardant suit for this one, but here we go... I agree with you. It IS a good balance. Even "all gear needs an upgrade eventually" isn't a perfect argument against it. It's not like the level 75 relics/mythics are the top tier weapons. Anyone who owned one still had to go through trial after trial after trial in order for the weapons to maintain their status. The only real difference, the thing that people don't like, is that R/M/E act as their own upgrades if you're willing to put forth the effort. And honestly, I don't see any problem with that. To me, there is very little difference between "go kill this NM for five umbral marrows if you want the new best weapon in the game" and "go kill this NM for a drop if you want the new best weapon in the game." Having a weapon that requires massive effort to obtain, but has some kind of permanence is an awesome concept. There are 15 other equipment slots for people who like the cut-and-dry "Item A replaces Item B" method.
