Random note - when you're going to learn a Geo spell from a reservoir, as you go through the dialogue, wait on the blank line while your character is kneeling. After a few seconds a blue !! will pop over your head. Press enter as soon as you see the !! and a Geomancy skill up will be forced after you learn the spell. Sounds crazy, but it's true. Not sure if this was already posted here, I went back a few pages and didn't see it.

I decided to do a bit more research/testing into Cardinal Chant.

Standing true S (Magic Crit+) gave a 30~% crit rate to magic.

Round 1: 100 casts, 71 NQ, 29 Crit.
Round 2: 100 casts, 68 NQ, 32 Crit.

I couldn't get crit to proc w/ Fervor (it didn't force crit the spell).

1000 needles should have done 500 split between you the lupoan, and even if it did, it would've taken 390 damage, not 500. unless i'm missing something here.

Apparently they're just AoE caster-centered and about the strength of TIV(-ra II)

For me they do about the same damage as Thunder IV.

But these spells seem to have notably shorter recast times than the -ga 3 line.

Yeah, you just gotta push through it. Use BEWs and just keep at it. I found that Geomancy over took Handbell in the 300s (bit like my Singing did to instrument).

At level 53, when I did my first skillups, skilling up rate hit a wall at exactly 140 per skill.

At level 63, when I did my next session, skilling up rate hit a wall at 170 per skill. I managed to get it to 180 simply due to skillup food and stubbornness in wanting 3/tick refresh.

From 63 to 70 (level capped -- went 63-65, then 61-65; used melee food, not skillup food), in several hours of XP'ing (doing GoV parties with friends; probably 120-150 casts), I gained a total of 1 point of Handbell skill.

From 70 to nearly 75 (about 18k away from 75 now), simple use in xp parties gained me another 7 points (total of 184/184 now). This includes 2 hours of them letting me leech while afk having dinner. Clearly skillup rate improved again.

From all that, I'd guess that 'easy' skillups increase at a rate of 3 points per level. That would put the top end of 'easy' at 278 skill at level 99. Though maybe it increases to 4 per level after level 75, in which case it would top out at 302.

If I were to guess on a formula, it would be 1 point per level til level 10, then 3 points per level til 75, then 4 points per level til 99. That would put max 'easy' skill (and 1 point less than the expected wall value) at 10 at level 10, 139 at level 53, 169 at level 63, 205 at level 75, and 301 at level 99.

Oddly my geo was 8-17 behind handbell all the way until handbell was around 370 then handbell just stopped and geo caught up within 5 points. Handbell still capped first though.

I just remember when I stopped at 76, and capped it to 230, it didn't take as much.

I've noticed, like Dantedmc, that Geomancy stays from 6 to 10 levels behind Handbell, though (both starting at 230, now that I am 99).

Gonna keep at it! Yay tediousness!

Also: The faster you click, the higher the skillup. When trying hard to be fast, I could got 0.4 skillups, or 0.3 if I was a smidge slow (I suspect 0.5 is possible with a 'perfect' hit). On earlier geo's, before noting the reaction time aspect, it was usually 0.1, maybe an occasional 0.2. Obviously, don't be so twitchy that you hit it before the blue !! shows up, though.

Testing Cardinal Chant's mab bonus:

No weather, Lightsday( to avoid day/weather bonuses)
Tunnel worm lv.1 East Ronfaure, 10 casts each.

aero IV:
facing south(no mab from Cardinal Chant):
1480,1480,1480,1480,1480,1480,1480,1480,1480,1480
facing west(mab from Cardinal Chant):
1568,1568,1568,1568,1568,1568,1568,1568,1568,1568 (5.9% increase)
with Collimated Fervor:
1688(crit),1608,1608,1608,1608,1608,1632(crit),1608,1608,1608 (2.5% increase)

Blizzard IV:
facing south(no mab from Cardinal Chant):
1620,1620,1620,1620,1620,1620,1620,1620,1620,1620
facing west(mab from Cardinal Chant):
1716,1716,1716,1716,1734(crit),1716,1716,1716,1716,1716 (5.9% increase)
with Collimated Fervor:
1874(crit),1760,1760,1760,1760,1760,1760,1760,1760,1760 (2.5% increase)

If someone could double check these numbers that would be great, I'm not the best at math.

also tried to test the recast time from Cardinal Chant but kept getting the same recast from all 4 directions with and without Collimated Fervor, may be broken atm?

It was tested to be around 12MAB back on page 6 but I'm not a math person so I can't say if that matches up with what you have.

I carried out some Chant Testing and it was +12.5 MAB from unbuffed Chant, then Fervored was +20 MAB.

bg-wiki.com/bg/geo is up to date with all of the findings :)

Edit: http://www.bg-wiki.com/bg/Cardinal_Chant has details on the buffs and referencing for original testing info!

Just for curiosity's sake: how effective is debilitating Magic Evasion and Magic Accuracy, compared to debuffing Attack/Magic Attack?

Trying to decide whether it's worth buying Indi-Languor and Indi-Vex.

edit: *** it I just spent the money for consistency's sake
