Did some quick math and, not surprisingly, Ruinator will eradicate Resolution on anything with decent DEF. Thinking this for a set:

So Hec cap isn't better for ruinator, or reso? You had it under the original set. Also axes? I hate that Run has axes/Gaxe when all the pictures were swords. It seems so odd and kind of lame.. What's the axe skill on it? And is this for all higher end content?

With lower axe skill, you'll more than likely benefit from the accuracy on higher end targets~

Also, how much do the additional effects do on Lux and Tenebrae etc? (If they have additional effects that is)

SE screwed up putting RUN on axes and not GEO. Expect a hot-fix.

Unfortunately not. Their axe access isn't great (Neither is their sword or Greataxe).

It looks like Breidox or Aalak are the best options depending on how reasonable Aalak are to make.

That's just another reason why it's so odd they have axes. They are on the STR Gsword line... Think SE done goofed, considering Geo's used axes in every other FF game? Though a nuking mage with an axe does sound odd, they were odd in Tactics to say the least.

Druid in D&D uses axes, that's where they took it from.

I don't think it's a mistake. I just don't think SE wanted to put them on only 1 weapon. So they went for the 2 two-handed weapons that also have 1 handed counterparts.

It kinda makes sense. Most proficient with the 2 handed variant but can also use the 1 handed variant with slightly less proficiency.

I just don't think axes fit a "fencer", ya feel? It seems odd to also exclude Geo from axes, like I said, given their past FF history. Hell they gave us concept arts of the geo from FF5 as potential JSE/AF2/3.

I think that it is a B- skill not a D or something rules out that it was a mistake and supposed to be on geo >.>

I think it's just one of those things SE does to give us the illusion of variety, like how war can use swords.

Geo used Axes + Swords in FFT too. They probably just didn't want Geo's meleeing I guess?

From what I'm hearing the Geo buffs aren't THAT great though. Idk how well it's nuking holds up, but it could have used some extra incentive to be used in parties. I'm hearing a lot of gripes about it so far. Sorry to derail and all though.

So axes > Gsword then for higher end content for Run?

Dervish Sword + Spinning Slash may be a possibility against high end content.

It is kinda sad but it's entirely expected. They suffer from the same issues PLD would. Plus Ruinator is really damn good, it's so underrated.

I was actually thinking about trying out Ruinator the other day while getting to 99. It felt like I was on pld doing poor mediocre Resolutions which got me thinking of other weapon skills that could compensate for the lack of attack. The axe ws came to mind due to attack bonus attached to it. If Run ever does get to that high attack point, then one handed weapon's ratio caps higher now.

But at that point, what would I have to sub? /war still is just too strong with berserk but nin or dnc(?!) provides dual wielding for that extra hit.

My next question is, what axes do I get? Breidox looks like the easiest one to get that has the highest base damage (And enmity and str...)

Axe wise you're basically looking at Breidox or Aalak.

I think /nin or /dnc are going to your best bet and it will come down to what you are fighting I imagine.

/nin gets DW3 at /45, /dnc does not though. Just something to consider.

Oh I know. It depends if raw damage is the only thing you're considering.

Right, but for trade offs for each look slightly better for /dnc at glance. I'd have to pop open spread sheet to see damage in the long run.

/nin
DW2 vs DW3 is 10% Dual wield, huge.
Utsusemi - Pretty great, probably not so much when everything spams aoes

/dnc
As for /dnc advantage, they get
Box Step - 5% def down making it easier to cap ratio
Haste Samba - Useless as this would conflict with en-spells
Violent F. - Stun can be nice
Desperate - Reducing evasion to land more hits on WS? Not that big but something.
Animated - A burst of hate, fairly useless unless pulling.
Cure Waltz 3 - I would never use this in end game, but it is there.
Healing Waltz - I'd rely on whm, but could be helpful if your support gets silenced.

Overall /dnc gives a lot of utility and box step for better damage out put, but can it do better than straight DW3?

Samba will conflict unless RUNs added effects are somehow different from every other added effect.
