Maybe I'm a blind nut and cant find this ***but where is this source? Can't blame people for not following up on every Dev tracker post...
Dude it's in the OP...
The maximum value for damage dealt from the attack defense ratio will be adjusted so they are identical for both single-handed weapons and two-handed weapons.
Saying they are identical doesn't imply "increasing". What do you guys think its an increase cuz the word maximum is involved?... You can't assume it's an increase based off their wording. If that buff ends up being the case then it's worded incredibly vaguely and I'm surprised you guys assumed it.
No, but the previous dev post to the one in the OP said it was being raised. Nothing was assumed.

Well I guess you can assume that because their intentions imply they want to buff single handed weapons.
"For example, we are currently looking into the possibility of adding some form of merit that would enhance the modifiers for the single-handed weapon main weapon slot. "
I still think people are overreacting to people's ignorance when it came to the whole nerf confusion. I was close to ending my work and just got home so I couldn't really absorb everything. If anything is to blame it's the way SE describes their plans.
Anyway back on topic:
Legion changes better not be *** procs
Embrava and PD thankfully nerfed
Defense down conditions are gonna be pretty painful
Twilight nerf is dumb
OMFG tanking is back
etc etc etc

Se is se look at the changes proposed to the scythe and look what they did I assume nothing from those ***.....
By Gimp 2013-03-15 18:24:28
for the 1hand adjustment it'll definitely be interesting to see what will be put in mid and high endgame lineups, my bitter sentiments on how badly 1handed jobs are played hope that this isn't something taken lightly.
I'm not saying everyone that plays a 2handed job is fantastic either of course, it's just more pronounced for 1handers

Do you have a source for this? Because like I pointed out, the language is ambiguous. If so, good news for monks.

was mentioned that mnk is being treated separate to other 1h DDs, so there's no promise that they'll be affected by this ratio change

What they stated before about the adjustment to one handers:
HimuraKenshyn;395984 said: From another post:
What's going to happen with hand-to-hand weapons?
Categorically hand-to-hand weapons fall under the single-handed weapon classification; however, the stats for hand-to-hand weapons are quite different from that of swords, which are literally held in just one hand, and they will not be treated the same. We will be separating hand-to-hand weapons from this balance adjustment and making changes that fit more in line with the weapon.

The defense nerf could be very very bad depending if they follow through with their statement of removing the monsters LCF to attack. If they don't remove that then anything bigger then you will gut you unless your riding defender (and thus not damaging it). And even with defender + taco your going to get torn apart. Honestly LCF in general just needs to be removed and have all the monsters stats rebalanced. It was a very sh!tty way to implement "difficulty".

It's like people don't realize this goes in pair with enmity changes to make it so we actually have a reason to use tanks(theoretically speaking).
First they cry we zerg everything, then they ignore the connection.

I hope history repeats itself and they give us "grip" type items to balance out H2H with 1H >_>

I may be wrong but I think the thing about treating h2h differently was only in case of unique bonuses being implemented?

Yeah Sena makes a good point, for all we know all the adjustments to odin, legion and etc may be to make a traditional set up more viable or even preferred.
Now the only problem is people will be blaming whm more when they die and stack their -defense abilities and spam WSes without using -DT sets. So not looking forward to the quality of players that have to switch from button mashing zergfests to coordinated fights.

Their update won't change anything about tanking, yet. The reduction isn't nearly big enough to prevent damage from flying past "tanks" hate.
Provoke is 1CE and 1800VE
3K Resolution is approx 3000 CE (old) and 9000VE (old)
Their adjustment will bring it down to 900 CE and 2700 VE.
I hope you see the problem. Melee's can cap hate with just melee damage, all this update means is you need WS damage to cap hate. This is whole reason WAR / DRK / SAM / MNK are the jobs actually "tanking" right now, they have the best hate generation capability in the game.
They need to add hate abilities that actually scale. We're talking abilities that generate 1000+ CE on a low timer, otherwise buffed melee's are going to shoot right past a defensive tank.
Honestly the defense adjustment won't do much for most monsters, it's the mega boss's that we need to worry about. SE is very fond of creating level 110~120 NM's with crazy aoe's. Just step back and imagine sh!t like Flank Opening doing 2000+ damage. You don't "tank" those NMs, you survive them.

would take approximately 3:25 for an unbuffed poor DD to cap hate and 93 seconds for a buffed one

So, use RNG's with fixed hate relic WS's, seems like even with PDT/MDT set frontline melees may be taking more damage than you really want them too after this update.

Since they're adding Whitegate and the Adoulin cities to yell they should add throttling to it and shout. So if you use one you have to wait X amount of seconds before being able to either/or again.
People who do both back-to-back get on my nerves. As if that is not annoying enough...
I'd like to take this opportunity to *** about shout/yell... it is NOT a conversation medium, especially for random gay/sexual jokes and other things irrelevant to the game.

/yell already has throttling, I agree with you about throttling shout however...
And shout wars, random trolling, conversations, and, yes, even gay/sexual jokes are fun. It beats an endless log of
slyveteran: Undercut heavy metal {Can I have it?}
aurorenin: +2 items {Do you need it?} People to farm my empy {Can I have it}
failbst: Cheap currency because I'm impatient {Do you need it?}
sadsam: Kaggen x6 {Do you need it?} 5/18
sadsam: Kaggen x6 {Do you need it?} 6/18
etc...

I disagree. I see the Shout/Yell as the business channel. It's for when people want to get stuff done, find people, or sell stuff.

considering how slow ffxi's chat tends to move, social interaction isnt hindering your vwnm and emp armor shouts

If someone gets banned for being social in shout then we'll know it's only for business. Till then there is a block feature if you're really that bothered.

Why do people get so bent out of shape by what's being shouted? Do you really have nothing better to worry about? If it doesn't interest you, ignore it.
