Having trouble making a macro that allows me to choose my target and waltz as I lose the <st> target before the waltz due to equipping waltz+ gear

You can use <stal> or <stpt> and it will not lose the target.

You do if your equipment swapping is in the same macro. This is the entire reason I started using spellcat on DNC.

tried having it in a spellcast set as
/sc set waltz
/ja "Curing Waltz" <stpc>

it still loses the target

Weird, I have never had a problem with it since I switched from <stpc> to <stpt> and <stal>. I had major issues with <stpc> but the other two work flawlessly.

Had mine set up like

/equip potency
/ja "curing waltz" <stal> <wait 1>
/equip TP set

Spellcast is the way to go though, but if you are one of those people who don't like using it then try <stal> and <stpt>.

I just tried <stal> and that is quite neat, thank you. Does it do the same thing as <stpt> just cover alliance as well?

Yes indeed. Just make sure you use Healing Waltz with <stpt> because the <stal> will let you target alliance members but the ability will not affect them.

Trying to get this macro right has been driving me crazy for a couple weeks, I don't like using spellcast to automatically do things when I do an action so I make equip sets and just toss them in the macro. With waltzes though I've been having trouble getting the <st> to not disappear until now, so thank you.

If you're using windower already, blinkmenot really helps.

I also have my macro setup to swap gears after target confirmation.

/ja "Waltz XX" <stpc>
/console exec waltz.txt (I use windower macros)
/wait 2
/console exec dnc.txt

This helps me, but in laggier circumstances it can make you waltz in your previous build.

I`ve stopped using blinkmenot since it updated because I can't seem to figure out the correct settings for it, I either blink all of the time, none of the time or randomly, can never seem to get it so it only blinks when not in combat.

What kind of settings are you using for yours?

I liked the old version, that worked the way I wanted it to, damn you SE, always breaking things :(

Not with <stal> works perfectly with swaps.

With 3.0, I just set most of mine to "ON" (>true</) after I got fed up trying to adjust it. The defaults for 3.0 work fine unless I do any battlegrounds-style areas (Einherjar, Legion, etc) which made it seem as though nothing wouldn't NOT blink. I'm sure there's a setting that makes it work like 2.0 but I'm too lazy to find it. I just unload/gearswap/reload if I don't like the look of what I zoned in wearing.

EDIT: CopyPasta of my settings.txt on laptop
