Regarding remembering what spells make traits you would want. I ordered my spell list to do this for me.

First, traits for DWIII, then DA/TA and store TP.

Then other traits that occassionally get made (skillchain bonus, treasure hunter) + most used utility spells.

(Theres a few others below diamondhide, like Auroral drape, triumphant roar, geist wall, dream flower)

After that I order them by element following the days of the week pattern.
The first spell in each element is the abby proc spell, the next ones are the remaining 2-3 procs per element for voidwatch. I place something thats obviously not a proc spell below the last proc spell. (usually a self buff)

You are losing a lot of kill speed by not setting DWIII as well as Quad Continuum

You arent losing a lot of kill speed by not having Quad set or DWIII, more so Quad. I cant see why you would say you're missing out by not using Quad for damage. Would DWIII help kill speed? Yes, but by using the excess set points on other useful job traits and settling with DWII you dont lose out on anything. (This is refering to Dyna blu/dnc)

Hi Nanabi!

I'm a BLU main, you might have seen me running around.

I tend to carry 77/80 and extra stuff as needed in my satchel (which is reserved specifically for BLU! And I'm out of space in it if I'm on another job...). But I'm by no means a minimal BLU (I have full sets for Sanguine Blade, Cures, Requiescat, etc).

Feel free to ask me about BLU stuff if you see me around.

I drop these spells:
Zephyr Mantle
Regeneration
Fantod
Sound Blast
Heavy Strike

I could never see myself dropping Heavy Strike in Dyna or anywhere else for that matter. Along with Delta Thrust, that spell is just way too useful. I also like setting Quad for Dyna mostly because it gives me another spell to have fun with while I have less than 100% TP and I need to kill quickly.

I'm a mage, thf, nin, drk, pld main, along with blu. BLU shares a lot of the same pieces with those other jobs so it doesn't completely kill your inventory, though if I had to guess I probably have roughly 90-100 pieces for BLU ... I fill up my normal inventory to like 70 or 75/80, then I have a couple utility sets in my satchel. If BLU didn't share a lot of items with those other jobs, I'd really be hurting. Make use of the Porter Moogle storage too! I have nearly 100/100 AF3+2, and it only takes 1 inventory space (slip #10).

If you don't want to use spellcast, or at least Windower macros, then just carry the basic sets. A set for each of your main spells, a cure set, tp set, idle set.

If you don't want to become a BLU main, then at least carry the above sets as well. If you want to become just a VW proc BLU, then at least carry blue skill / magic acc sets, and cap your blue magic skill before joining! And learn how some spells work; especially the "gaze" based ones. So many blu trying to proc gaze spells standing on a mobs *** -.-

The best tip of all: Prothescar's guide is the best around. Read it, love it.

Want to add a few things, didn't read the whole of recent posts but:

-The point of Chaotic Eye and Zephyr Mantle isn't necessarily their main functions, but Conserve MP.
-Dropping things like Heavy Strike and Store TP for triple attack is a net loss. Store TP alone is enough to overtake the minor gains of double attack -> triple attack, losing a powerful, cheap DD spell is icing on top of it.
-Occultation is terribly MP inefficient and you do not need the trait from it for Dynamis as you already get it via /DNC.

If you're going to be making sacrifices to add a new DD trait, make it Dual Wield 3, not 2. But even then you'd be more efficiently spending your points on other things.

Benthic Typhoon
Whirl of Rage
Quad. Continuum
Delta Thrust
Barbed Crescent
Heavy Strike
Empty Thrash
Sudden Lunge
Amorphic Spikes
Animating Wail
Battery Charge
Regeneration
O. Counterstance
Dream Flower
Fantod
Chaotic Eye
Zephyr Mantle
Everyone's Grudge
Charged Whisker
Asuran Claws

Traits:
Dual Wield II (Sub)
Evasion Bonus (Sub)
Skillchain Bonus (Sub)
Store TP (Spells)
Double Attack (Spells)
Counter (Spells)
Conserve MP (Spells)
Treasure Hunter (Spells)

Can swap out O. Counterstance for Osmosis and Asuran Claws for whatever if you feel you want more healing for whatever reason.

I personally drop MAB trait to get Triple Attack. I don't remember exactly how as it's been months since I farmed dynamis.

Though I have a frankly amazing Sanguine Blade set.

got DWIII, TA, Store TP, Auto refresh and a quite a few spells... most were 1/1~5 too, pretty sweet.

Also studied Spellcast finally and wrote one that's working somewhat, however I have come into some question with it, below link is my first attempt lolspellcast based off of Proth's:

http://pastebin.com/x5N4nBPq

My question is-

1. I have idleset as semi PDT and refresh.... I currently am building a PDT set but I don't see how I can make a rule or bind a macro button so I can change to PDT when I want to (like starting to mass pull for CW)... just write a separate xml?

2. with the current setting on my xml, I change back to TP set whenever I am done casting ph. embrace, however if I am not engaged and casting that to a pt member it will not change me back to idle/refresh set, is there a rule to make that happen?

I use this rule for casting spells outside of combat/idle.

this is from my xml:
Code
  <if Spell="Gates of Hades">
            <equip when="precast" set="FastCast" />
            <equip when="midcast" set="Gates of Hades" />
            <aftercastdelay Delay="1" />
            <if status="engaged">
                <equip when="aftercast" set="tp" />
            </if>
            <else>
                <equip when="aftercast" set="idle" />
            </else>
            </if>

edit: I added the fast cast rule in there too, it should work, if not just take it out lol.

BLU is probably my favorite job, if not it's definitely my second favorite after WHM. Both WHM and BLU got hurt by abyseea/VW and turned into a proc jobs. WHM obviously is more of a healer in tough fights but Abyssea healing can generally be done by anyone with a cure spell and a decent MP pool/refresh atma.

CW burning is lots of fun -- enjoy it! I was shocked the first time I got a great gear set and atma set for it. It becomes a challenge not to 1 shot mobs all at once now (if you are going for exp anyways, since you only get roughly 8 kills at once). Remember if you are farming lights to have each person claim a different mob so their names are red -- otherwise you don't get lights for it when it dies. What I do for Azure farming is: gather mobs > CA/Flux Whirl of Rage > Dream Flower. Have everyone claim mobs here with flash, slow, para, whatever. Then BA Charged Whisker to kill it all.

I pray for the possible 1-hand weapon update SE has talked about. I would love to see BLU utilized endgame once more :( I miss the days of Dark Ixion and Khimaria kills BLU/THF with Cannonball!

<Shamshir +2> <mine>!

other question.... I am only missing Sanguine Blade set
is that WS worth investing money in?
and what's a good number of drain from this WS?

Edit: meant to ask this, trying to get a better answer...
my moonshade earring is currently for all my mage's idle (refresh), is TP +25 and atk+4 make or break for CDC?

yea reason I asked is that Dyna BLUs have been saying Sanguine blade is one good way to save your MP, I just wonder how much HP can you drain on Dyna EP/DC mobs, I somewhat have gears for it already, only need 2-3 piece more and don't know if it's worth the gil

When I'm fighting hydra in ZR (on BLU) I have a separate PDT set that I use as my melee set. In order to automatically swap to it during the fight (instead of my normal melee set), I have a var blupdt that is usually set to false. If it's false, my normal melee gear is equipped. So, right before I engage hydra, I just have to type /sc var set blupdt true, and then it will swap my melee gear to my pdt gear instead. You just have to add the "if" statement to check the status of the variable.

I figured this might be helpful, not necessarily in the situation you're describing, but for other similar purposes.

With all the refresh gear available your mages should already be at 6-7 refresh, and in events mp intensive you're likely to have ballad3, and possibly other forms of refresh too, plus sublimation; or in VW temp items. Tp bonus instead is unique and it's very well worth it for many weaponskills for many jobs. CdC is one of those who benefit a lot from it, so I suggest making attack/tp earring.

^ Pretty much this. The only times I would consider getting refresh augment is if you are 100% mage or have a mule/alt that you 2box a lot and maybe have a harder time with MP management. (which is what I did for my alt)
