stuck spamming 121212121212 like 100% of all other mmos? i think mmos are not your bag buddy... and this is just alpha all ff mmos have bein pretty much that with stuns or move timing its not just 1212121212 thats just being condescending and looking for a reason to knitpick placement and timing have always bein a key part in FF boss battles FFxiv- Primal Ifrit (stay out of his aoe range move before the eruptions kill you) FFxi- Every HNM Boss Battle BCNM had a strategy to it while mashing macros

Im kinda getting lost in your posts you saying you dont want this but you also want this but that seems cool over there to but i dont want exactly that Im not tryin to troll you but are you sure you know what you want from the game??

The Aspects Enu likes about MMO's in General:
1) Quick EXP Grinding
2) (When there arent parties) Other options to EXP
3) not having to burn my enter key to get simple rewards
4) not HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE "me and my friends onry" end game
5) generally enjoyable people to be around
and last but not least
6) Getting ALL the things.

Having the option to hit enter a buncha times and get EXP isn't a bad thing per say, but i'd like to only do that when there are absoloutely no parties or i've been seeking a party all day with no luck.

ok better now i see well tbh ffxiv seems similar to your wants but remember great reward comes with great work trust me i hate the onry type ppl too but thats in every mmo

It seems as though the wording of the NDA changed allowing people to state they are accepted now, it just makes it a point that if someone is accepted they are not to publicly display anything that would be considered spoiler or confidential. From what I gathered in the documentation I've seen about it, SE pretty much states "If you haven't seen us post it publicly, you probably shouldn't post it either. We're glad you're enthusiastic and/or upset about various changes, but this is Alpha and subject to change. We also would like there to be a surprise for Beta testers, and for the general public on launch."

yea anyone caught posting videos or screenshots is subject to lose testing rights or possibly being banned from FFXIV but i havent done that nothing states that announcing you are a tester is wrong but you already said that =)

You still should not openly admit to alpha testing on a popular ff14 public forum.

the only ppl saying anything are the ones who didnt get chosen it seems its more jealousy than common sense, why shouldnt i be happy about being selected you would certainly tell ppl if you did

edit- if you must tell people, then tell some RL friends or bring it to IM's or heck even PM's on here. just don't post it out publicly on a forum is all I'm getting at. though don't let me tell you how to live your life, it's just a word or two of advice.

It's worth noting that combat in 1.0 after it was revamped didn't fully mature untill 40+ when you had your full combos and jobs became worth useing (other than whm which was earlier). As far as making any kind of judgment on the game this video means nothing except for getting to see some ability descriptions.

The incapacitation system will likely force you to vary your combos more than just spamming your strongest one. The system kinda fell by the wayside in 1.0 but it was there and important for some fights as I understand such as breaking ifrit's horn in extreme. Limit breaks I have no idea if they are included in the alpha but depending on how strong/usefull they are and how the bar is charged could mix up combat as well. That said it could also be like SC/MB in FFXI where the effort taken to pull them off would lose your group overall damage output and really only catered to the epeen of 1 or 2 members. I think I remember in one of the interview a ways back they mentioned returning the battle regimen system but not 100% sure on that. Last note is that in 1.0 mages did not have a wide variety of enfeebles, instead each job/class had a few such as slow being caused by a mnk's Aura Pulse or paralyze by drg's Disembowel. If that remains the same and there are fights where enfeebles are important then again more variety in the combat will be created.

Judging a MMO game based off this video/the alpha itself could be similar to playing 30min into a single player game and saying it is terrible. Not enough is there to make any kind of accurate judgment.

The game NEEDS a character animation for dodgeing. It can be a simple quick lean back or a step back but...there HAS to be something there. >_>

Not to worry. There is still combat. And once you can level a second combat career you will have run through most or all the low level quests meaning you will have to fight to level.

The one wonderful thing about FF over WoW games. Jobs. Instead of making 8 characters to try all the content out, can just level each job.

So, like Chanti said, the subsequent jobs would all need to be leveled via combat.

Indeed, and mini-mission series within each job. All in all an enthralling sense of immersion.

i meant job based quests but meh ppl got the point... I think what ppl are so iffy about is they dont want this as an HD FFxi but also dont want another MMO clone like so many that are out right now i.e. Tera WoW Rift GW2... I can say its got plenty of the FFxi/FFxiv elements that die hards love but its not as grindy and its also evolved to include some finer ideas

I'll say this.. I downloaded the Alpha onto my computer and played the new 14 for the first time tonight (brother got chosen for the Alpha but his comp couldn't handle it.. go me!).

This game.. is what I've been looking for.

I LOVE the idea I don't have to wait around for hours at a time waiting for a shout or have to find 5-6 people to party with for something.. I accomplished quite a bit of quests on my own tonight.

Something to go at my own pace.. I've love to party and see what that's like at some point! But until then.. this.. is looking like a viable transfer from XI here. Sad to say.

AND I WANT MY FEMALE GALKA DAMMIT! D:

Also to actually add to the conversation, levequests make leveling more jobs easier, but you only get so many and there's a lot of other content you can use them for.
