The Sealed Dagger: A Ninja Guide
By gdiShun 2014-09-28 16:52:47
One nice change if it remains Barrage-like would be to make each hit give TP (just like Barrage).
It already does. Problem though is shurikens have such a low delay that you're only getting like I think ~400 TP from a full Sange. I'd love for the new iLevel shurikens to have like 276 Delay or even higher. But they're probably still going to be 192.
Just out of curiosity, how much DMG are you guys expecting on these shurikens? Personally, 150-200DMG is what I'm expecting, but I can be pretty pessimistic. I'm expecting them to be built around the trait and not-so-much be legitimate weapons on their own.

LOL shows how much I know about current Sange. But I guess I mean TP return something more along what Santi said (help build AM3 quickly), or enough to do something like a quick self SC with WS -> Sange -> WS again.
If they're actually looking at Sange to adjust it, I'm cautiously optimistic that they'll make a 5/5 Sange at least worth using. Here's hoping.

Would be decent if they made Sange an instant move like Lunge on a lower recast timer like 2-3mins and make each hit individual so if the first hit whiffs, additional hits should still get a chance to land, and yeah the amount of tp gained would also be great cause my nagi cries ;-;

Or hey, they could just make Sange not consume shuriken too, just like the auto-attack. Then it's really easy to make a nice R/E shuriken that you just leave in the slot for auto-attack, whatever melee stats it gives, and Sange. Just don't manually /ra throw it and you're fine! That's what I'm hoping for!
Not expecting it, but would be quite a nice change and would make Sange more attractive.
Even if with its 5 mins cooldown it's nothing creating major differences, but still, it would be nice.

I have Kannagi 119 and Nagi 119 and without any doubt whatsoever Kannagi is gimp as can be compared to Nagi. I had to say it cause way too many people claim otherwise. If you're gonna make an R/E/M for your NIN make a Nagi. My Kannagi is useless now. I use Nagi mainhand and OAT acc+15 offhand.
Correction: Yeah it's true lol Nagi sucks *** running around 2/3min finding mobs in places like Raka Skirmish. Once we get 100 equipsets I'll make some Kannagi macros up again for such ><

Job Adjustments said: Ninja
A new job trait, Daken, will be added.
When equipped with a shuriken, the ninja will occasionally throw it upon autoattacking.
This trait will be learned at level 25 and will increase in stages at level 40, 55, 70, and 95.
* Shuriken thrown using Daken will not be consumed.
Sange will undergo the following adjustments.
Sange (Recast time: 3 min., effect duration: 60 sec.)
Daken will always activate but consume shuriken. Increase ranged accuracy by 25.
Katana skill will be raised from A to A+.
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/44539-dev1235-Job-Adjustments?p=526824#post526824
I wonder if the multiple tiers of Daken increase proc rate or perhaps a Ranged Accuracy bonus? If the former, it'll probably be a pretty high proc rate, perhaps 25%(5% per)? :o
I'm not sure how to feel about the changes to Sange. On one end, I think it's definitely better overall with this change. However, I liked it's potential for burst damage and TP gain. We'll also be bleeding shurikens when it's active. Without any Recycle, we'll be blowing through 30+ w/o any form of Haste per activation. lol. So hopefully the shurikens aren't 30k plasm like ranged ammo. lol.
I also wonder what the additional merits will do now for it now though and if Relic Body augment will still give RAtk+100.

Costing x-amount of shuriken every 3min.

I can't really see that body ever coming out ahead of Mes'yohi, but there's more issues than that. Did you run these through the spreadsheets?

To possibly answer my own question, I think the +25 RAcc might be the additional merit bonus. So if that's right, with Relic Body and 5/5 Sange, we'll have RAtk+100 and RAcc+100, in addition to the Daken RAcc modifier they mentioned, during it. Which would be pretty awesome. I'm just really not looking forward to carrying 5-10+ stacks of shuriken at all times. lol.

Costing x-amount of shuriken every 3min. For a duration of 1 min it seems? I'm not sure if shurikens are considered ninja tools (I don't remember the last time I threw a shuriken). So depending how much ilvl shurikens cost. Sounds like a considerable dmg boost to nin if those damn things will hit mobs. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

what is your average time from 0->3k tp to rebuild AM3 assuming you let it slip off or lolincursion mob knocked my weapon off.
I've tried gearing for Kamu but the damage is more depressing than missing the 1st hit on blade:hi

What the heck are you fighting that requires that much accuracy? Even your lower acc set looks like overkill for the vast majority of content.
Some of these choices are just completely bizarre even in a scenario where you might want to mix in a bit of acc.
- No Epona's Ring
- No Windbuffet+1
- No Trux/Brutal or Bladeborn/Steelflash (either set assuming buffs for capped delay reduction)
- Using Otronif+1 pieces for... Acc augments?
- Acc augment on Taikogane? (if you need acc that bad, keep the crit augment and in situations that warrant more acc, either (a) use 119 katana like Raimitsukane or (b) eat acc food)
- Heavy Store TP sets on a delay capped DW job, to use a relatively weak Mythic WS?
... Why??
If all we got out of these posts was the best gif I've ever seen, OK, cool. But these sets are pretty weird.

^^emphasis added. Yeah, this does address one thing that has ALWAYS been a glaring NIN weakness, few tools for quick zerg type stuff.
Pop Innin/Yain and try to get behind the mob, Sange up, Mikage up. There's some potential there to not be as much dead weight in a zerg as NIN has traditionally been.

Even with the 933 acc set and meat dish, you could come up short on acc vs higher clvl incursion. I know like noone wants to bring a ninja to it but utsu does work on soaking some of the aoe moves.
its obviously going for best in slot everywhere as a way to show what pieces to get.
Everyone should aim to get gear for a high acc build regardless and throttle back appropriately.
By Santi 2014-09-30 14:06:29
I entered Taiko w/acc into spreadsheet and it does quite well over Raimitsukane on Tojil for example.
And I do incursion all the time on NIN :)

There's a difference between having a good Acc set prepared, and simply putting max acc in every slot without regard for whether it actually makes sense in practice.
If you ever need that much acc, everyone else does too and you're probably getting acc buffs (and/or mob evasion debuffs from GEO RDM DNC etc.).
And is it really worthwhile continuing to eat meat when you're needing so much acc as to have to make these kinds of super-accuracy sets?
Some of these augmented pieces also cause you to forsake much more frequently useful options: Taikogane and Otronif+1 hands in particular (and if you use Otronif+1 legs/feet on SAM). Maybe Acc Taiko is good in some situations, sure, but crit Taiko is absolutely dominant in situations that don't require Acc which I find myself in pretty often. I guess if all you use NIN for is something like high level Incursion maybe your thinking is different...

Without looking too deep into it, those sets should come out pretty well versus high level content. Losing out on multi-attack means a lot less when you're using AM3 and an OAT offhand. STP is not subject to this reduced efficiency.
You're also assuming those are his only two sets, which may or may not be the case.

lv130+ Incursion or anything else really where u need accuracy. I know stacking accuracy to land OAT on "Hard Mode" battles sounds extremely odd being very few actually use NIN for anything remotely serious let alone gear themselves for it or have ever thought about it.
I wanted windb+1 but not so much now. Olseni is pretty hard to beat on anything that matters. and I rather land 40% OAT over 2% trip/quad.
Stacking STP and acc and finding the perfect balance vs mobs evasion seems to work in the little time I've spent with Nagi.

I have used kannagi and NIN on just about everything Hard Mode like difficult AA and DMII and ino others have as well. I just wanted to point out the drastic upgrade all those NINs could obtain using Nagi instead over Kannagi or even relic having AM3 20/40 combined with OAT offhand able to land hits on the highest level content.

Well, interesting to say the least. Definitely a different approach than what has become the norm for more traditional NIN thinking, and perhaps worth thinking harder about if you're often doing very high end content on NIN. Thanks for making me think about it!
Couple quick thoughts on specific pieces:
Sasuke Tekko +1 are a good consideration for a high Acc set. Not wildly different than Buremte (DEX augment), but I'd expect the crit damage+2% helps a bit depending on DEX tier/crit rates, and higher ilevel is at least something any time there's level correction in play. Plus, they're great for Hi (not that a Nagi user would care quite as much).
Agitator's Collar looks a little weird in that second set. Seems to me like if you care about high acc in that set, just leaving Ej on the neck would more likely pull ahead. Or if you were giving up acc in the slot, maybe something with Store TP (Asperity probably, though you could go gung ho on sTP with something like Ocachi).

Extremely excited anticipating next update +7 more acc/att and an additional attack/tp gain from shuriken which Im hoping procs in Hi and Kamu /joy
Edit: Just wanted to add. Did Incursion 130 w/ Nagi and mythic SAM mythic DRG the other DDs. This is really what I made Nagi for. To stand beside elite DD testing myself and the NIN job itself. Then did Yorcia 1~5boss a few times. Didn't parse or anything but I didn't feel as if I was a weak link in any way shape or form. Did I outparse them? Probly not but that won't stop me from trying to do such. lol

"Feeling" is never a good way to gauge performance.
I am also excited for this update though! Finish my Nagi in less than two weeks!
