I did the C4 races to get the 50 wins, I think you'll finish 1st more consistently doing that than if you do C1-3.

https://ffxiclopedia.fandom.com/wiki/Wildgrass_Seeds_Results I just got 3rd place in Novice Race I, but I still can't access II or III. Am I missing something or do I need to get 1st in them?
I'm in the process of making a digger choco, but it I'm not yet at the point where it is usable. If I want to take advantage of the upcoming digging campaigns to skill up am I better off using my racing choco with stats: STR: First-Class, END: Impressive, DSC: Average, RCP: Average or would a rental choco from the stable have higher RCP and be the better choice?
Use your personal as you will have a higher item fatigue limit of 180+, based on your 160 END, vs maximum 100 and likely higher dig accuracy too. We have no way to scan rental birds but they are extremly basic chocobos because dig accuracy is night and day different once you raise your own.
Is there a daily checklist of things you should do in the raising phase? Just looking to the future.
Currently on Day 2, and checking the egg about 40-50 times before going off and doing my thing. Day 1 through retirement, a single Watch Over is all that is required.
Your goal should not be to deplete the energy bar to 0 every day unless there are specific reasons to do so like learning an ability or interacting with an NPC to obtain a specific KI. The occasional Bored and Restless will require a Compete With Others of course too. Using Tell a Story to learn said abilities is good once DSC is 96+ as trying to learn an ability earlier is possible but just a waste of time as it’s like speaking to your chocobo with its head in the sand. When it comes to daily food that entirely depends on how much energy was used the day prior. For instance, a single Watch Over interaction will not have any effect on hunger levels for multiple days. I have raised multiple birds where they were not feed from day 6 through day 20. As during that time, they remained at level 6-8 hunger level and only required the occasional single Garridav or Tokopekko to recover from stomachache and illness. I'm not supposed to deplete its energy daily? Or look over it to keep its affection up?... you literally just do the daily plan, feed it, and call it a day? Dang that seems to counterintuative I have a question about the 70 and 80 chocobucks plans.
How many "points" do you get for each use? Can you use them on a registered chocobo that is currently running/digging and has finished growing? The cheaper one is for birds still being raised while the more expensive ones are for birds that are retired. I thought I saw somewhere (ffxiclopedia?) it takes like 560 chocobucks to raise a stat a full rank. I believe this was for unretired birds. Also a lot of other info on both wikis has had questionable accuracy in my experience.
I believe it's 4 points per training - like 4 points from Ivaar's addon showing actual numbers, so 8 of those per letter rank.
Oh, 4 points per training is low but... could've been worse.
I guess I might want to put em all in RCP in the bird I'm currently using. Of course after doing that I'll need to re-register it for racing and for mount, right? I have another question about the chocobo dye. I know if I dye my mount-chocobo that dye is gonna stay on the mount (and not on the race). What happens if I update my chocobo stats and consequentially I decide to "update" those stats on the mount by re-trading my VCS card to the npc. If I do that, will it "reset" the dye? Or will the dye stay even if I update the mount? This is very convoluted I just woke up, I bet you guys aren't even understanding what the *** I'm saying lol First question is yes, stats "snapshot" on registration so you have to re-register if you change stats.
Second question is... I think yes, reregistering also means you have to re-dye? But I'm not 100% certain on that. I feel like I got bit by that once in the past. Intensive Training (75 chocobucks) and Special Training (80 chocobucks) are only usable on chocobos currently being raised in the stables. If you want to alter stats on a chocobo that has already retired, you need to purchase a retired token found in the purchase items menu in the 100-chocobuck category. This category is only available if you are aligned to the racing team in first place of your server.
Intensive Training is a waste as it saves you 5 bucks but increases a random stat, pretty much useless. Special Training (80 bucks) and Race tokens (found in the 90-chocobuck purchase items menu) give + 5 to the chosen stat for each use. There is a weird nuance that occurs once past a certain stat threshold where a single use of a race token or special training will either be +4 or +6 to the chosen stat. Retired tokens (100 chocobucks) give +2 to the chosen stat. Only great for micro adjusting stats at the very end of the raising process. Trying to correct a poorly planned chocobo already retired is not really feasible. Raising a stat a whole tier cost 512 – 576 bucks during the raising process and 1,600 if retired. Dye is lost whenever you register your bird to snapshot updated stats. Question about racing, this is my chocobo I raised aeons ago:
Jockey: Galka DNA Green Green Yellow STR 243 - 18~19/32RP Legs and talons END 234 - 10~11/32RP DSC 18 - 18~19/32RP RCP 15 - 15/32RP Abilities: none Personality: Rather ill-tempered Weather: prefers clear days, dislikes none. Riding speed 97,5% Riding time: 45 minutes So not too bad for racing, but clearly not ideal since it doesn't have gallop etc. My question is simple. I'm still missing some Official Races (Survival Race, Deadly Race, Mystery Race, Lethal Race, Dream Race), do you think I have any chance at all to win these races with enough tries? Is it worth it for me to spam chocobucks until I can try and retry and retry again until I win? Or are my stats so bad that I have like 1% chance to win those races so I shouldn't even bother? Supposing there's a chance, which configuration should I use? I normally always used "Speed apple" and "Final Spurt" but maybe there's a more efficient combination? Thanks in advance! I don’t believe you have a chance with your old chocobo, and the reason is you will burn all stamina at the beginning portion of the race. Pushing you up front in the first half which makes you the target of all the negative NPC items which all will land because of the low evasion.
Final Spurt + Speed Apple is imo always the best combo. Would second that, too many points in END, that low DSC/RCP is gonna get you PvP'd on all the serious ones because the enemy items are ruuuuuude. And no Gallop/Canter.
Sounds like I would need to build a new one then.
Not sure I can find enough strength of will to, though. Regardless of that, thanks for your sincere inputs! Very much apreciated. Do you have a list of checkpoints you should aim for, for a racing chocobo? I guess 200+ end, 240+ STR, then enough DSC/RCP (how much?) to be able to learn Canter and Gallop which are mandatory. Correct? I've finally jumped back into Chocobo Raising after 20+ years and am excited to work on this! A lot of info is spread across multiple threads so I wanted to make sure that my understanding is correct. This is my most recent Chocobo:
Day: 68 (After day 64, your chocobo's stats will not raise any further via careplans.) Jockey: Hume (F) DNA Yellow Black Blue STR 152 - 24~25/32RP END 134- 6~7/32RP DSC 0 - 0~1/32RP RCP 0 - 0/32RP Abilities: none Personality: Very easygoing Weather: prefers clear days, dislikes none. Riding speed 90.0% Riding time: 33 minutes Current Standings San d’Oria: Minor (old) Bastok: Minor Windurst: Dominant (current) I’ve just started racing my Chocobo in Windy and seem to be having much better luck with Free Runs. If I’m understanding correctly, I have two avenues that I can pursue: 1) Raise a second (better) bird and focus on Gallop and Cantor as well as getting more Chocobucks. Assume this bird won’t be capped and invest Chocotrains in my third bird. 2) Build up Chocobucks and focus on making my second bird capped with Chocotrains. I’m aware that Chocotrains don’t stack and that I’m looking at a massive amount of inventory loss. I’m prepared to sink the gil and space into it as necessary In terms of raising a new bird, should I focus on STR and END early or go for DSC and RCP to learn Gallop and Cantor ASAP? This is what I've been doing to raise new birds. Imo the outcome seems fairly ideal and reasonable without previously accumulated bucks. My old chocos have max str and basically nothing else. Thry seem to be ok at farming bucks, so you may be able to start accumulating bucks with your old bird. Tbh idk anything about digging and I dont plan on learning anything for hopefully another 12-15 years.
There's also some info on the "demystifying food" thread which is where this came from Bahamut.Zedoma said: » Salads are +0 to DSC/RCP and so are Carrots. The reason I know this is because I attempted to raise a chocobo with 96 in STR/END/DSC by day 29 in order obtain all 3 of the physical characteristics like the Noble chocobo mount. We are lucky that Ivaar's chococard addon exists and it removes all the guesswork and also all of the information from past guides are about the system before the 2016 rework. I recommend the first bird for anyone new to chocobos be raised like this: Abilities to obtain: Gallop & Canter Day 1-5 Basic Care Day 6-20 Listen to Music Day 21-30 Exhibit to the Public Day 31-64 Delivering Messages (If STR caps early switch to Digging for Treasure) Day 65+ Basic Care (Buying time to purchase/farm chocobucks to increase END to 4-34 and RCP back to 96-128 before day 120 using R: tokens) 254 4 254 128 Once this bird is made all the rest come much easier. A question about earning chocobucks:
How i collect these? Doing hundreds of free runs may ends for me with an Cerebral hemorrhage even trying to raise one stats lv (for a raised chocobo). Is there a way to fasten up the free runs or else way to gather these points? Thx in advance. I think Kayte is working on an addon for repeat freeruns that she might decide to release in the future.
It's a very complex and excruciating trial&error process, so this might take some time or she might even decide to give up. She reads this thread so she will give you more info about it! For the meantime if you want I can give you a simple windower script. It's not as good as a dedicated addon or more complex things, but it's better than doing it yourself for one hour, I guess? To clarify slightly, I do already have an addon that's fully functional for running sets of free runs (8 at a time, following one "set" of 8 races) but it's relying on some in-addon hacks to fix issues with the packets library that I'd like to remove and clean up before pushing it out publicly.
I have an open pull request on Windower to fix the packets, but due to the issues with the dev branch over the last few months, it hasn't been gotten to just yet. Once that's merged in, I can remove the workarounds, clean it up, and I'll drop it on my github. What's the earliest you can start using Chocotrains on your bird? I'm going to start stockpiling them before my next egg and I wanted to know how many I should start with. Also, which do you guys find yourself using the most? I assume a few for STR and then a bunch for DSC and RCP?
