All I ever see on my server are *** BLUs dual wielding Isador with an MP+100 M.acc sword or a DEX sword in 5/5 AF3+2 and it makes my head explode. I feel like BLU is more prone to poor gear jobs than other. I naturally check players who are on jobs that I have leveled and having just leveled BLU I feel as though a disproportionate number of BLUs are geared like ***compared to other jobs, but it could just be Odin server

There are too many blus like this on odin i think its all the recent people leveling blu. Back at 75 cap every blu sword had melee stats on them wheb you went looking for a sword it was always one with str or dex. Back then you had to be careful with your mp pool i would think most people see those swords as mp+200 and probably think macc helps with physical spells. Isador i dont mind too much its no str or dex sword but its something at least. I have though been seeing more almace blus tping and wsing in 5/5 af3+1/2.

Just for fun I took screenshot of every BLU I could find in 10ish minutes. Results aren't shocking.

I used to say and think that. I used to give the benefit of the doubt. But time and time again I am let down. "But it's just town gear!" "Wait why is he meleeing in...is he blinking when he casts..wait do I have blinkme...nope it's disabled....*** he's meleeing, weapon skilling and casting all in the same gear..."

Judging by their other gear, they most likely melee in that ***too.

Except Ogier is matching with my Phorcys Feet and Mekira body and the rest of my gear is commensurate with PDT/Regen. Don't play dumb, you know those MP shikargar/isador/heed/moldavite full AF3 BLUs are meleeing in that ***.

Obvious DT set is obvious. I'm not saying all those BLUs fulltime that gear, but Ophannus's visible gear has a clear theme in terms of function whereas theirs do not.

Also come on, use common sense, some of these BLUs have gimped subjobs, are rocking Hedgehog Bombs and Parrying Earrings. Do you really think they're packing Thaumas and STR shikargars in their sleeves? By the way at least one of those dudes had a Bushinomimi instead of a Suppa and one of those 'brutal earrings' is actually a cassie earring. A cassie earring with a loquacious earring. Mathenate the HP/MP gain of that little earring combo for me real quick.

Granted I don't have every job 99(just 5 jobs) but BLU by my experience thus far has the highest discrepancy between well gear and poorly geared players. I don't know what it is or why it's the case, but in the short time I've had BLU leveled to 99 and geared(last 3 months) I've seen way more outrageously poorly geared BLUs than poorly geared DRGss,PLDs,RDMs,SCHs and THFs. My educated guess is that it could be that people just derp BLU to 99 just for a VW proc job or something and then derp gear it so it's not naked.

To the OP: the types of people who don't give a ***about what gear to wear, probably don't even log onto this website or view these forums. This is why they aren't going to stop TPing in mavi hands / feet, and are "Giving a bad name to blu mages everywhere." I enjoyed your OP btw, it made me chuckle lol.

Here's my BLU TP set. Note the Mavi Kavuk +1, Keen Ring, and Ghillie Earring. The Demonry Stone I have no excuse for..gonna get a Smart Grenade until Mantis Eye.

The other items, though..why do I have these? Why am I gimp? Oh, it's because I haven't been able to get a solid group for Raja, I have been getting BLU spells (hours on end for some) and blue magic skill so I haven't taken time to do ZM just yet for my Suppa..I have Oce Head NQ, but 3-4m for an upgrade when I could just spend that on so many other things (priorities!)..see what I'm getting at? Some people know how to gear, but have priorities set. I am also working slowly on Almace and Fire Shikargar, and my MNK gear as well.

***in this game takes time and resources, and whining about using a Mavi Kavuk over Oce head, or something equally stupid is just ignorant.

Please note: TPing in Mavi bazubands/basmak is terribad. I do not condone this. I do, however, appreciate those BLUs in NQ/standard TP gear as they progress up to a better tier.

Note2: Body was won from the giveaway..I am not fighting Provenance Watcher on this BLU lol..

Nobody will chastise you for having bad gear/playstyle if you admit your mistakes and are willing to change and get better. But man some of these BLUs will fight you tooth and nail that TPing in X is right when it's blatantly *** HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE. I've had BLUs blacklist me because I used math to explain how they wasted gil and weeks of playtime 99ing their OA2-4 swords. These BLUs are so adamant and unwilling to even consider with an open mind that they might be wrong. It's really disconcerting not just for a game, but as a general statement of the condition of humanity as whole, that there are still people out there who are unwilling to consider that they might be in the wrong. Apparently you're a filthy iconoclast for using logic and science to disprove eyeballing.

That was more player skill than the gear itself, even if they were better geared than you they`d still have probably died.

Did any of those people ask you for advice?

Pretty much no one enjoys being told that what they are doing is the wrong way to do things, especially if they didn't ask for a critique or advice beforehand.

I don't think I'd respond all that well to something like that, so I would never try and do that to others. If you are asked for advice, that is incredibly awesome and you should try and help them out as much as possible.
Just rolling up to someone and throwing out advice no one asked you for is just crappy to me though. Not that you did it this way or anything, just in general.

Though it was said, no one that needs this thread will ever read this thread.
They all(those I've met obviously) are usually pretty OK with the way things are. Those that are generally called Gimp seem to be some of the happiest most content players I've ever met in this game.

Until their gimpness really impacts you I can't see why anyone would care about this to much.
If someone was stupid enough to assume all Blu's are bad because they had to deal with one bad one, why would anyone actually care about that persons opinion?

Sounds so damn dirty.
But you have to remember that not everyone is you, and not everyone will take advice in the same way.

How does MACC compare to blue magic skill for the accuracy of magical BLU spells? There's a few toss ups that come to mind, such Hedera (MACC+10/haste+5%) vs AF+1 body. Obviously it doesn't matter on fodders, but on anything worthwhile for soloing it could be the difference between survival and death. /pray its not Hedera... enough gear on me and in my satchel as it is

Macc will help you land the added effects, but physical spell acc is based off mainhand acc, blue skill is utilized for blue magic attack rating. Can't see using macc in a slot with more skill available.

Has this actually been proven? I hear it a lot, but never saw the actual evidence (like the stun effect of headbutt/s. lunge).

Guides are great for people that want to know more about many facets of the job. However, for people wanting one answer to one question, they don't want to take the time to read through an entire guide on the job just to find that answer.

I'm not supporting it, just explaining it.

Im just saying rather than necroing a lost topic about a question relating to the mechanic of the job, why not just ask on a guide about the job that is regularly monitored by the person who made it as well as a lot of other people. But i do get what youre saying

A lot of people don't even know what CTRL + F even does. Not everyone is computer savvy, or even computer literate. And what does it matter? If their question gets answered, that's all that matters.
