So i watched the premiere of Stars Earn Stripes, which had some pretty high calibre names for it. Dean Cain, Terry Crews, Eve Torres, Laila Ali, Nick Lachey, Dolvette Quince (the weenie who took over for the other Biggest Loser Coach), and 2 other celebs, hosted by Samantha Harris, and General Clark. I was wondering who else saw this show and what they thought of it

To be fair, this isn't like the other celebrity shows on tv. If it were, i probably wouldn't have watched it through to the end. The only thing that did bug me, is these celebs competed in a live fire mission, in which the winning celeb at the end of the series, wins 100k for his or her military/first responders charity of their choice, but don't bother to offer 100k of their own cash to do it. They do however, have to earn stripes for each mission completed, which is worth around 10k dollars, along with bringing awareness to war veterans, military personelle, and police officers with organizations like "Got your 6" and such. Regardless of winning, Dolvette Quince was dismissed on the first episode, and the execs decided to give his charity org 10k dollars anyways. Plus it's a little awesome to see an action star like Terry Crews see just how hard it is, and you get to hear him say stuff like "In hollywood, they have ways of making you look good for 5 minutes, then you sit down and have a smoothie"

I watched the episode and enjoyed it. It was, unlike most "reality" shows, real, and seeing 2 stars unable to swim enough to make it to shore was real reality tv, and a wake-up call to these ppl.

Watching the stars try to break down a door was hilarious. Kicked holes in it, missed the lock, and Crews' punching the sledgehammer into the door and it sticking there was great fun.

It will be interesting to see how they shake things up and add variety to keep it fresh and attract viewers each week. If it keeps up @ the same level it started at I will get the dvd set and watch them all.

You have ripped athletes finding it hard just to keep up with the endurance real soldiers have to go through. Fitness trainer, retired pro boxer, retired olympic skier etc. can't keep up even an inch.

Thats how most body builders are. Most of them ignore the cardio side of it (mainly because it can *** your muscle growth) and can lift several hundred lbs,but take 25 minutes to run 100meters

EDit: the show itself seems like a decent idea, not enough for me to watch it though because I dont trust (like the post says below me) the created situation

I hate to mention this but news is reality TV.

I like to call this kind of show "situation based reality". BTW, Robert Sheckley, the Sci-Fi writer, predicted this kind of show in the 1960s.

about two hours ago before my workout i saw it on the front page of hulu. i gave the show a chance and was very pleased with it.

my brother is a army/marine vet with three tours under his belt and to see the fitness trainer get dqed first kinda sucked. not because he did a good or bad job, but because the charity he was playing for only got 10k. that being said, 10k could go a long way and im happy he waled away with something. my brother, that i mentioned earlier, is battling with adjusting to civilian life and his charity struck home with me cause we literally had a conversation about how difficult it can be for him two days ago.

i really like the show though. like its said above its a cool twist on reality tv. im a big battlefid fan and to see guns like m249 and scar being their primary weapons was another awesome treat. i forget what the sniper riffles name was.

really glad other people like the show also, i know ill be following it flowing week. i mean, what else is there to watch besides white collar and burn notice? lol.

Well, the fitness trainer, skier, and boxer rely more on cardio than muscular training, then fit in muscular training with endurance and toning exercises. Your statement would be true if i had mentioned Terry Crews or his partner, Dave Comstock, who both look like Mr. Olympia level competitors.

The thing is, the soldiers typically don't look anywhere near as fit, muscular, or streamlined, so to speak, however they live this life on a daily basis, so their endurance and strength will always be much higher even if it doesn't show.

Endurance, muscle size and strength are all 3 very different things. They don't necessarily equate one another.

This show has Todd Palin on it. Enough reason for me not to watch it. I am not supporting that damn family. Nick Lachey wtf? Isn't the mofo getting enough in alimony from his divorce from Jessica Simpson?

/sigh. Re-read the sentence has absolutely NOTHING to do with politics sexism or anything else partial. Don't try to turn this into a political thread. lol

Isn't the mofo getting enough in alimony from his divorce from Jessica Simpson? aka Why is he doing a trash celeb reality show when the guy is still forking in on his ex-wife's clothing and perfume line...
