Greetings,

Please understand that the original message that I posted was not intended as a guarantee that we will be adding this kind of gear in the future. This was meant to only be an example of how the pet’s Treasure Hunter could be enhanced to a higher level. While this does not rule out any possibility of adding equipment like this in the future, it was never a promise that it would be implemented.

Still think he should of been a bit more clear to players to begin with. They even knew what people were discussing about this whole time. The players should of been corrected in February, not now.

Would of been nice, I still don't see why not.

I honestly think having Pet: Treasure Hunter + would be a cool stat on any pet gear.

It was easier for them, by claiming gear was coming it silenced a lot of the outcry so they could then claim that the majority were in favor of the change.

Once again, where was it claimed that it was coming? You made a false assessment that "you can use Pet:TH+ gear" means "we promise to add pet TH+ gear". If you feel that "you can use Pet:TH+ gear" means "we promise to add", then I feel that it is equally justified for me to say that "You can use Pet:TH+ gear" means that the gear is already in the game as a hidden/unique augment that has not been found yet.

http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Playing_Paparazzi
The unique augment from that quests reward was only found a good 6 months after Heroes of Abyssea came out.
http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Lost_Memories
I dont believe the unique aug on that piece of armor has been found

They all have one too:
Tahrongi, dance shoes quest with Waltz Potency
Attohwa, elite beret with M.Crit
Attohwa, Jup Ring with attack+
Vunkerl, Earrings with PDT
etc

Treasure Hunter Effect Amongst Jobs

As an adjustment to the balance of Treasure Hunter at level 99, the below pets will have their Treasure Hunter effect changed to Treasure Hunter I.

-Dipper Yuly
-Faithful Falcorr
※These pets will have a base of Treasure Hunter I, but by using equipment that has “Pet: Treasure Hunter +” the effect will become stronger.

Here is the premise regarding the hierarchy of the Treasure Hunter effect (from strongest to weakest).

  1. Thief

  2. Ranger

  3. Support job thief

  4. Other jobs

※As ranger received the new “Bounty Shot” as a support ability, it is now slightly more beneficial than a support job Treasure Hunter when effectively used.

However, with the increase in the level cap from 75 to 99, this ordering has started to become ambiguous, so in order to clearly define the premise again, our current aim was to find adjustments appropriate to follow this.

The prime example of changes to this hierarchy were with the increase in the Treasure Hunter effect for familiar pets due to the level cap increase and we would like to start by adjusting this area.

The development team looked into routes to adjust this, such as changing the pet’s job, lowering the stats of the pets in exchange for not lowering the Treasure Hunter effect, revamping the pet’s special abilities, etc., but ultimately they made the decision to preserve their fighting capabilities and only reduce their Treasure Hunter effect. To go along with this adjustment, we will be easing up on the materials required to synthesize “Lucky Broth” which created with the basis of the Treasure Hunter effect in mind.
※The current focus of this adjustment is for familiar pets, but in the future if automatons and avatars are given Treasure Hunter, we will be adopting the same policy.

To give a bit more insight, the development team looked into a completely different direction on this at first, exploring if they could establish proper balance to follow this idea by changing the drop rate table. However, if they were to change the drop rates, the obtainment rate for every single item would change and the effects would be too drastic, so they came to the conclusion that they would not be adjusting the drop rates.

They say not to take this post as a guarantee. That it was never a promise. It's funny then that they followed through on everything in that post except introducing the "Pet: Treasure Hunter +" gear. Are we just going to have to guess which features are promises and which ones are simply blowing smoke? Furthermore, the language used was very certain. They didn't use a "maybe", a "If", or a "we'll see". They used the word "will" and now they use the word "won't". The Community Rep can say whatever they wish, but I hope they understand they aren't fooling anyone. The bottom line was they lied.

That's a good point but the smart way to play that would have been to say "we never promised to add new gear but that doesn't mean that gear doesn't already exist". Doing so would have created a wave of players trying quests that give augmented items again, trying various augment synergy recipes, heck even trying FoV again to see if it came from there.

They used the word "will" and now they use the word "won't".

I'm pretty sure we learned verbs and conjunctions in grade 1-3.

※These pets will have a base of Treasure Hunter I, but by using equipment that has “Pet: Treasure Hunter +” the effect will become stronger.

Break down the sentence into its specific sections. The only part where "will" comes in is where if you wear gear with Pet:TH+, the TH effect on the pet "will" become stronger. There is no we "will" introduce these items. All that was said there is if you use equipment with "Pet: TH+", your pet's TH "will" increase.

Lets try this another way:

Your car is a piece of trash 1995 Ford, but by driving around in a Ferrari, you will definitely get more girls.

More or less the exact same sentence structure as the one SE used.

The only will in there pertains to what would happen if you had a Ferrari. Do you own a Ferrari? No, but by your logic, that sentence implies I promised you a Ferrari.

I'd actually be somewhat sentimental in this case, since they'd be giving false hope. To say something may be there when they know its not is just plain rude.

However, seeing as how people have mined dats and extracted all possible augments, if someone actually took that to heart and started spamming quests and FoV looking for the aug when its known it cant exist, well, you wont get any pity from me lol.

Does however state it is possible for you to get a Ferrari, just as the devs implied it was possible to get Pet TH+ gear, however it is not, nor will it be possible.

Think you need to better understands what was said.

Let's have a break of the quote in question here:

Quote:
※These pets will have a base of Treasure Hunter I, but by using equipment that has “Pet: Treasure Hunter +” the effect will become stronger.

This clearly says that our pets WILL have a BASE TH of TH1.
- When someone refers to something as BASE, it typically implies that one can build or exceed this BASE. For example, you will have BASE salary of $8/hr would mean you will have a min paid of $8/hr but there it would implies that there are ways to exceed this BASE.

Next part of the sentence, "but by using equipment that has "Pet: Treasure Hunter +" the effect will become stronger.
- "by using equipment that has..." implies that there are either existing equipment or new equipment to be added so that this effect will become stronger. To continue the example, this part basically tells you how you can go ABOVE your BASE. Why talk about ways to go above your BASE if there were never intention to have said equipment available.

That statement therefore clearly implies that yes, your pet will get nerfed down to a level 1 TH but there will be equipments that will allow you to exceed that level. Now, if that's NOT an implied promise of such said equipments then I do not know how else to read this statement at all.

Sorry I was implying that it actually existed and disregarding the fact that we the players have already found "all" augment tables. You know something crazy like they decided X cool stats would be kept server side instead of on the client side files.

The game client still has to read the code to display the message. Pet: Treasure Hunter+ would have it's own code just like every other stat.

Once again, assumptions based on unknowns. Do you work at SE? Do you have proof that they just did this and then wiped their hands clean going "ok fixed"? SE has a vast working model of nerfing something, and then slowly tweaking it back to a point everyones happy. Whos to say that SE didnt do the original nerf (nerf is such a bad word for this, I'm gonna call it an adjustment, because thats what it was, considering THF has reached their peak of offensive outpost over TH, a TH that BST could equal using a stupid pet), look at the aftermath, and then go "well everyone for the most part seems pleased with how this transpired, we cant please everyone"?

And stop bringing up the "they said they will introduce pet TH items" until you can show me where they directly stated that.

You are also all vastly forgetting one grave piece of information: Everything that the devs post in english was originally written in Japanese...sometimes things get screwed up along the way.

http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/20369-%E3%82%B8%E3%83%A7%E3%83%96%E9%96%93%E3%81%AB%E3%81%8A%E3%81%91%E3%82%8B%E3%83%88%E3%83%AC%E3%82%B8%E3%83%A3%E3%83%BC%E3%83%8F%E3%83%B3%E3%82%BF%E3%83%BC%E3%81%AE%E5%8A%B9%E6%9E%9C%E3%81%AB%E3%81%A4%E3%81%84%E3%81%A6

Theres the original JP post that you are all clinging onto so damn hard. I dont read a damn thing of JP, but Camate's post seems to be a copy paste, in regards to formating and coloring.

※ペットの持つ能力としての段階が1ということになりますので、装備品などで「ペット:トレジャーハンター+」のような効果があった場合は累積されます。

Thats the text you are clinging onto so damn hard...does it say "We, Square Enix, promise to introduce Pet:TH+ gear in the future"? I dont know...

Are you high?

SE has stated that THF has reached their offensive cap due to TH. TH which at a level past 3 has demonstrated powerful diminishing results. TH3 being an effect that a BST with Yuly or Falcorr can completely mimic. So yeah, if SE is going to tell THF that "youre not getting fk all until we shut these servers down because of TH", you can very well expect us to *** if its not going to be something unique to THF.

What if SE made bst jugs not unique to bst? That way any job can get access to pets and ready? Now everyone can hold 2 mobs in dynamis at once!

Aren't pre-update notes always just showing what they WANT to implement, not what they WILL? In recent history, the Ukko/VS nerf was changed after community feedback on how horrid the initial effect actually was.

Maybe I'm reading the book upside down here...

To me, they didn't promise BSTs Pet TH gear...ever, even though the information regarding such was presented hinting at Pet TH gear.

SE is run by humans and I think they've proven that many times over the course of their history.

Maybe my words arent getting through, because I've already said twice now that the difference between TH3 and TH12 is marginal at best. Its been tested, parsed through and through that the difference between those two is hard to notice.

But you really compared bst Charm to Virelai.

It's not that hard, just put all jobs on tarutaru sash and leave it at that. Bst/dnc gets TH2, Job/thf gets TH3, Ranger and Thf get higher than that. That meets their hierarchy rules.
