Atleast the jp winner got a mythic.
Waste of a rank #1, just that, move on, he can be proud over years for winning a relic, people will just laugh at it.

If he has 2-4 hours a day to play he could have finished in 2 months or less just by running Dyna once a day. Idk where you're getting a year from
***lol. A casual gamer could make 5-6 a year.
A really casual gamer could manipulate prices and make a relic in weeks. Buy low, sell high, missprice single pieces as 100s. Look at the price of scarletite ingots on some servers vs. others. Someone said to themselves "there are a couple fools leveling a craft who would LOVE to be parted with their money on my server" and bought all the low price ones and put them back up high. ***Ragnarok is 60-70% higher than asura lol.
I would replace the term "casual" with either "stupid" or "lazy". The implication that all gamers who can accomplish something are virgin male neckbeard basement dwellers should have become extinct a decade ago.
Also, if someone is a "casual" gamer, why are you playing an MMO? The term "casual" gamer is at BEST an excuse used repetitiously to explain why some people can't get anything done in a game originally designed to target young teens.

casually building spharai, & it taking 6 months so far.
18,100 (rough number, changes depending on relic) / 150 (easy to get on bst if you're a decent player) = 121 (rounded up) days or 4 months...
So if you spent 0 gil on currency it would take 4 months at 2hours a day...

I laugh at all the people who said they'd /wrist over someone winning a relic over mythic.
Werent you also the guy who said you'd pick a relic because you didnt wanna be pigeon holed into one job? Yet,multijob relics are useless for all but 1 job on them nearly....except probably just the bow.
Anyways I'm 99% gutted someone picked a relic and won.and 1% happy that its not some noob or(more likely) a bandwagoner with a free mythic.

Am I the only one that feels grief looking at this controversy from a mid-2000s perspective? The sight of any relic weapon being called a "waste" is just sad. It isn't the relic itself being a waste, it's the choice of a relic when you could have picked a mythic weapon which takes more time and is more of a pain to do (or can be anyways). And in many cases the Mythic > Relic for most jobs.

those #'s are very realistic. I guess a large portion of my problem/arguement is that I'm giving all shells to a buddy for guttler. plus, I try to make it everyday, but don't. 4 months solo seems about right solo with no buying. I'm lazy it looks like. I still stand by my silly *** opinion, you have too much time on your hands if you're done in a month.

I guess the idea of using a useless and/or inferior weapon on a 2nd job just because I can is an alien concept to me

Some relics were a waste even then.
Still: If I'm being totally honest (which is hard to do being as I wanted liberator sooo bad) I'd rather someone get ***who will appreciate it, regardless of what it means to you or I. Sav got a Toci's this morning and seemed elated. If I would have gotten mekira body, it would've been more of "onice I don't have to do this VW next". I just try to keep it at "i lost and I don't wanna know what someone else did with their winnings" lol.

I'm very bitter that after 10 years I got squat not even a rank 5 prize, and yet more than a few got double prizes on two accounts. That's all kinds of screwed up! Yes I'm hating >_>;

| | Hey gang!
Just got confirmation that things are still moving according to schedule (our "in July" time frame) and that prizes should hopefully start appearing in lucky adventurer's delivery boxes soon! I don't have an exact time for you for when it begins, but one thing to keep in mind is that prizes will be delivered in order, so it may take some time before all of the prizes are completely distributed.
We'll make sure to post once we have confirmed that all prizes are sent out! | |
The sneaky and stealthy goblins were able to infiltrate the FINAL FANTASY XI in-game item vaults and pilfer a ton of items right from under our noses... It turns out that it was all for a good cause because they are creating a variety of Golden Gobbiebags packed to the brim with goodies for some lucky adventurers to take home.
We have prepared a special survey based on the events and announcements of VanaFest 2012 to be posted after the event. By filling it out and answering the “Gobbie” question correctly you will be entered into a competition where you could win one of many Golden Gobbiebags, each exploding with a variety of rare in-game items!
How to Participate
Complete the VanaFest survey, answer the “Gobbie” question correctly, and you will be entered into a competition where you could win one of the Golden Gobbiebags below!
Participation Period:
Tuesday, June 26, 2012 to Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at 11:59pm (PDT) (NA)
Tuesday, June 26, 2012 to Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at 7:59am (GMT) (EU)
Restrictions
Only one entry can be made per Square Enix account.
* Employees of Square Enix, Square Enix, Inc. and Square Enix, Ltd. and their relatives are forbidden from participating in the VanaFest 2012 Giveaway.
You will be ineligible if you do not meet the following requirements:
You must have completed migration of your PlayOnline ID to the Square Enix Account system.
You must have a PlayOnline ID linked to a Square Enix account. If you have not linked your PlayOnline ID with your Square Enix account or you do not have a Square Enix account, please read the details here and apply for the giveaway after completing the necessary procedures.
You must have a FINAL FANTASY XI Content ID.
*Players still in their free trial period will not be able to participate.
Please note that you will lose the right to obtain your prize if any of the following situations occur:
The character name or world name was incorrect at time of application.
The character receiving the prize was deleted.
You select “Return” for the prize delivered from the MHMU.
There are over 128 items in your delivery box.
You already possess the item.
Though thorough testing has been performed, in the case that you possess multiples of the same rare item, authority to claim the prize will be nulled and the item will be deleted.
Winning Entries
You must fill out the survey and correctly answer the “Gobbie” question included in the survey to be entered.
Selected winners will have their items automatically sent to the character listed during sign up.
