Quote: If the Mog Bonanza was that segment where Tanaka chose the Numbered Balls then gauging by the crowd reaction there was only a 2nd place winner. Unless I'm mistaken and the bonanza was instead that segment where they pulled those slips of paper towards the end of the 2nd day's live stream. In which case it could have possibly been a unknown number of winners. I'm more inclined to believe it was the numbered balls segment because it had 5th place showcasing 1 digit and 1st place showcasing 5 digits. The 1st digit for 1st place was a 0 so its possible no one won. From someone who actually watched the whole stream. The first part was for the nomad bonanza, and I guess it makes sense for the prizes to be lv99 with afterglow because the probability that anyone won at all is in the 50% range assuming active FFXI/SE JP accounts total under 100k.
The second part sounds exactly like what I would have expected of the real mog bonanza: they're drawing tickets out of a hat from a pool of people who were there at the event. Their prizes (and how many) are unknown, but I guess at least 1 person got a lv90 stage endgame weapon.
Huzzah.

Nothing says love like perles.
At least it'll help him farm a useful weapon.

There's nothing wrong with Aymur. Since the Aftermath applies to the pet as well, it's one of the better relics (though not top-tier like Ryunohige, KKK, or Nirvana). I guess the question is more- what would be of greater use to a perle BST? Probably PDT axes for solos, and "who cares" for Dynamis farming.

I don't think we should be limiting the guy's perspective of rewards to bst axes "because he is a bst". It's certainly within the perspective of any rational person to say "Hey, I'd really like to be a great drg, so I'll ask for mythic polearm, even though my dragoon is level 1 and gear-less."
At least the guy had the common sense to pick a mythic I guess.

I'm not downing on him for choosing Aymur. It is common sense to pick a mythic, and Aymur is one of the best choices. I guess as a BST myself it's a little sad to see someone who clearly hasn't spent any time gearing the job get a mythic weapon, which will basically benefit him very little in the content that BST is good at.
I'm a hypocrite anyway. I chose Kenkonken for my Rank 1, because it's one of the best weapons in the game, but my PUP is pretty average. Still better off than that perle BST though, lol.

What if someone gets like... a yellow curry bun for rank 1. I know it's not a choice but where is your threshhold of "that was *** stupid". You have to have some level it's not opinion and just plain stupid and that therin destroys your whole argument.
You may not be as elitest as person B, but that doesn't justify person C choosing to eat paste instead of a free steak dinner.

Of course according to my standard that guy is a moron lol, but my standard means nothing just like everyone else's to him.
Acting like he wasted the win is pointless though that's all I'm saying because it's ignorant to assume my own idea i
Of what's fun as a person is the same as his.
It's not a matter of fun at all, it's common sense. Where are you going to get more use of that scythe? On your main while you're afk in jeuno, or on your crafting mule in sandy?

Yup each weapon turns you into the respective Ark Angel that wields it, question remains is, how do you get the Sword/Great katana/Tabar :x

| | Hey gang!
Just got confirmation that things are still moving according to schedule (our "in July" time frame) and that prizes should hopefully start appearing in lucky adventurer's delivery boxes soon! I don't have an exact time for you for when it begins, but one thing to keep in mind is that prizes will be delivered in order, so it may take some time before all of the prizes are completely distributed.
We'll make sure to post once we have confirmed that all prizes are sent out! | |
The sneaky and stealthy goblins were able to infiltrate the FINAL FANTASY XI in-game item vaults and pilfer a ton of items right from under our noses... It turns out that it was all for a good cause because they are creating a variety of Golden Gobbiebags packed to the brim with goodies for some lucky adventurers to take home.
We have prepared a special survey based on the events and announcements of VanaFest 2012 to be posted after the event. By filling it out and answering the “Gobbie” question correctly you will be entered into a competition where you could win one of many Golden Gobbiebags, each exploding with a variety of rare in-game items!
How to Participate
Complete the VanaFest survey, answer the “Gobbie” question correctly, and you will be entered into a competition where you could win one of the Golden Gobbiebags below!
Participation Period:
Tuesday, June 26, 2012 to Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at 11:59pm (PDT) (NA)
Tuesday, June 26, 2012 to Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at 7:59am (GMT) (EU)
Restrictions
Only one entry can be made per Square Enix account.
* Employees of Square Enix, Square Enix, Inc. and Square Enix, Ltd. and their relatives are forbidden from participating in the VanaFest 2012 Giveaway.
You will be ineligible if you do not meet the following requirements:
You must have completed migration of your PlayOnline ID to the Square Enix Account system.
You must have a PlayOnline ID linked to a Square Enix account. If you have not linked your PlayOnline ID with your Square Enix account or you do not have a Square Enix account, please read the details here and apply for the giveaway after completing the necessary procedures.
You must have a FINAL FANTASY XI Content ID.
*Players still in their free trial period will not be able to participate.
Please note that you will lose the right to obtain your prize if any of the following situations occur:
The character name or world name was incorrect at time of application.
The character receiving the prize was deleted.
You select “Return” for the prize delivered from the MHMU.
There are over 128 items in your delivery box.
You already possess the item.
Though thorough testing has been performed, in the case that you possess multiples of the same rare item, authority to claim the prize will be nulled and the item will be deleted.
Winning Entries
You must fill out the survey and correctly answer the “Gobbie” question included in the survey to be entered.
Selected winners will have their items automatically sent to the character listed during sign up.
The “Golden Gobbiebag I” winner will be selected from a combination of North America and Europe participants. All other winners will be selected by region.
