Got Enif Cosciales~ Did some testing to see if it has more fast cast than the Homam version and it would appear to have 10% fast cast. Used the Reraise method:

Enif Cosciales - 53 seconds
Augmented Kaiser Schaller with 5 Fast Cast + Goading Belt - 55 seconds
Nares Cap + Goading Belt - 53 seconds

10% fast cast would give 51 seconds. Can't confirm the exact value with just that data, but it appears to be either 6 or 7%.

Would that mean Nares Cap is also 7% or is there a better way for me to test? :x

Hmm. Are you using the recast value from the menu? Recast plugin isn't always quite right.

Where was the testing for Nares cap at?

The introduction of haste also complicates things verily. Technically you can't use Goading Belt to simulate Enif's 5% haste as we don't have exact x/1024 values for either the belt or the pants (belt we might? I haven't seen it.) It's quite possible that even though they both say 5%, they're different haste values.

And as Nightfyre said, don't use the recast plugin. Only use the menu recast.

The most precise way to measure it would be using a piece of Fast Cast gear that we know the exact value of along with the pants, and working backwards.

Llew means that its 10%fastcast/5%recast. I don't see how the numbers dont add up unless i'm not understanding something.

(floor(60*.95))*.95=54

he was looking at wrong recast so was seeing it as 53(i'm on skype with him)

That makes more sense

Actually no it doesn't, iirc Fast Cast rounds down?

Which would change nothing, so nevermind. You're right. 10/5 look correct

Pretty sure we have a value for Goading Belt but *** if I remember whether it's 50/1024 or 51/1024. Motenten would know, he was doing a bunch of recast-related tests a while back. It's probably in Mathy Parts somewhere.

Also HURR HURR I'M A MORON. Forgot to use half the value for fast cast. But... hm. Strange.

It's ok Night, I had a moment and completely forgot that Fast Cast had two values. :C Must be a bad moon tonight

10% Fast Cast is nice, kinda QQ that I don't get to condense my movement speed and fast cast into one piece anymore though

Down to the nearest whole number, but this is still weird. Nares testing is here. BUT, that number doesn't fit with Llewelyn's (almost spelled that right without looking) data. 171s recast on a 180s spell must be 5% recast reduction.

60*0.95*(1-50/1024)=54.2167969
60*0.95*(1-51/1024)=54.1611328

What gives? I don't remember any flooring, not that my memory appears to mean ***in FFXI anymore. Are these haste items actually 52/1024?

Would have to put Nares at 12%/6% to line up... which would be bizarre and cause issues with the original test. I'll log in real quick and see what values I get with my hat

He was getting 54 seconds; was using recast plug in to get values at first. And there is flooring to 1 decimal but it doesn't change anything for this I don't think.

6% recast reduction doesn't line up with the original Nares test though, you'd get 169 seconds. I'm going to try and dig up the Goading Belt data, would be really weird if it's 52/1024 but I'd rather have that ruled out if possible.

Oh, okay then lol.

Source for flooring? There was all kinds of ***about the recast reduction calculations in Mathy Parts a while back, don't think any firm conclusions were ever reached though there were some promising models.

kirschy said:
When trying to determine the recast when combining fast cast and haste, it's important to know the order in which they are applied. Haste is applied first, and then truncated to the 10ths place. Fast Cast is then applied to the truncated number. The number is then floored(decimal truncated) for the final recast value. The equation would look something like this:

New Recast = floor( [1-Fast Cast] * ( [1-Haste] * Recast ) )
(Round to the 10ths place after each step.)

Don't know if that's consistent with more recent recast models and I really can't be assed to run it through Mojo's stuff, let alone the stuff Mougurijin ended up with that had freakish custom bit lengths.

EDIT: Specifically, here.

I haven't found anything to suggest that it doesn't round down, good enough for me until we do tbh. I could be wrong, but the closest I've ever come to it being a problem was with decimals that are cut away anyway.

Which doesn't make any sense now that I think about it after posting it

edit: I'll have to read through that thread some time tomorrow, too much for me to register at the moment. I did see someone assuming I'm HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE though :C 10% -> 5% would have been a massive error, an error that I wouldn't have made.

Congrats on the Almaces!
I got mine to 85 not to long ago but sad because Idk how to make it show on ffxiah, I know i have to do something with guildworks but its still a little unclear with me.

Been having a blast with cdc tho, it is very fun when you can knock of 10-20k hp on a NM.. can't wait to get it to 90 etc.. but who the hell wants to do apademak /cry

My latest goal is trying to get a massive -pdt set for my Whisker burning glory!
