Dark Souls & Other Souls-Likes

Good. I love Dark Souls map style. I can't stand playing the Elder Scrolls series because it's too open. Which is unfortunate because they seem REALLY fun beyond that. :<

Better graphics is always nice.

Glad they aren't making DLC equipment. I'm fine with DLC content that has equipment and such included, like the Artorias DLC, though.

Yeah, I'm like level 27. I should probably farm some soul from easy mobs, but I just don't have hours to spend on it right now, with college starting this week and working fulltime ontop of that.

If anyone has a character that's within range, then I'd be glad to play with someone else for once. I've been playing alone besides a few instances of players invading me to steal my one point of humanity. xD

guys..i bought the game for $20 at gamestop...

was 5 days ago.. I think I'm going to return this tomorrow and put it down as a preorder for Ni No Kuni instead :x

I won't say i hated the game because i didn't, I admire most of the details they put into this game. but the combat system wasn't really for me, I wasn't fond of the control setup, and I honestly just had a hard time getting "Into" it lol.

I should also mention I'm not usually a fan of western rpgs which this mostly reminded me of at first*
the more and more I played, the more annoying it got for me rather than "fun" (inc "What is this [fun] he speaks of? bah humbug")

but yea :/ Maybe I'll try to get into DS2 when that comes out :x

If you bought it new you might have a hell of a time returning it.

edit- when i bought the game, one of the clerks actually told me i had 7 days to return it for a full refund or get a diff game ( I feel like he has seen that before LOL)

Dark Souls isn't for everyone, really. There's a particular element to it that suits only certain types of people.

Sorry you didn't enjoy it Ghaleon, you're the 2nd person here this week that bought it and didn't like it.

I need a way to show what the game is like without spoiling it so people know what they're getting into :(

Maybe during summer I'll pick it back up and force myself to play it through, Just now i really don't have that much free time to spare and I keep finding myself doing other things than playing Darksouls lol.

I usually just like blazing through enemies with fast attacks or a giant sword in action RPGs so this game annoyed me at first but the more I played it the more fun it became

It took me a little while to get into the game as well. When I first got it I played to after the Taurus demon and kinda set it aside for a long time. Then came back and got much more into it once I got deeper in and had more options in the way of game play.

As others have said it is definitely not a game for everyone since it breaks from a lot of what is normal in games these days.

I find I get bored of ES games really fast personally... Morrowind was fun but Oblivion and Skyrim I felt that the world just seemed too generic and the addition of quest markers (or markers for everything really) undermined the exploration aspect that was so strong in Morrowind. You just didn't have to learn the world like you do in Morrowind (and Darksouls).

I prefer the DS style as well though, theres really not much in the way of blank space in the game XD

Yeah... The NPCs die within 5 minutes, they're not really useful. I get the tail off and about half health before they die, then I'm avoiding the stomp attack and ending up drying. :( First time I fell off the cliff in the back of the room lol.

The game isn't really for everyone, I know it's not dark souls, but I think I traded and regot demon souls like 4 times before I just ended up keeping it, dark souls I bought when new and never really touched it until like a week ago lol.

I killed Smough first since I wanted Ornstein's drops. Made it much harder for me since Ornstein jumps around like a ferret hopped up on pixie sticks. Being a squishy caster, I spent the majority of the fight rolling and hiding behind pillars popping out to shoot a soul arrow occasionally when I could target fatass without getting lanced. But I found Ornstein to be easier once he absorbed Smough since he would actually stay at a distance and toss bolts at me rather than stabbing me in the face.

I'm free now. Had to brave the college to add and drop some classes while recovering from whatever I caught yesterday.

All right, I'll drop my soul sign in the hallway before the bonfire to keep it separate from the rest, PM me here when you are ready.
