I did :( He fell off the cliff and I saw the ring at the bottom so I quit/reloaded and it wasn't near me or at his spawn spot in the tower.
If there's a fire, why not take advantage of it and possibly save an estus flask or two?

I am only killing this dragon because he killed me twice :|
You can't kill him with arrows :< He regens at or below 50%
Well you CAN but I doubt at your level lol It's part of design, part of AI flaw. Those fires are there to hurt both you and enemies. They know the AI is simple and I think that was on purpose.

Well it's not exactly difficult to step back until it uses a big move, hit it, step back until it uses another big move and then hit it again, until it dies. Get dat Zweihander and smash that black knight into the ground >:D
Carbuncle.Josiahfk said: » I still say fighting the black knight head on is harder than pulling him to the fire and watching him kill himself. I never said its insanely tough or anything, it just takes more skill to fight him head on What fire though? >.> Not sure which spot you mean I like stairs for hard hitting things like Darkwraiths. You can hit them with a 2 handed attack but they can't hit you with a stab or swing if you're lower than they are >.>
That works on a lot of mobs :P
skill just means you're able to handle the situation, you have learned enough to survive a legit fight against them. The fires are there for players who are impatient and wish to kill them early when they don't have the damage output to kill them at the moment.
You can exploit the mechanics and backstab them to death, and I don't think that's legit really either. It's a mechanic, just like knocking them into the fire or kicking them over the edge, that you have mastered and now are exploiting the hell out of just to win battles quicker. Nothing is wrong with it, but you're still exploiting it when the game shouldn't allow us to do it so easily. It's all about giving in to all kinds of players, giving people options so they can find a way to survive in this game and make it through til the end. There are many ways to play, some are easier than others (spam backstab, using the environment) and some are more difficult. You can choose to use the blacksmiths to make yourself stronger, that is exploiting them so you can make the game easier. You don't have to do this, in fact you could do the whole game with the default weapon and armor if you chose to. There are all kinds of difficulties in this game and it is up to you to set it where you want it at. I just smash things with Zwei's R2 :/ That's probably why I get murdered at PVP. It makes me feel strong ;3
I don't like using the word "exploiting" for stuff like reinforcing weapons. It's something you should do in the game, it's not a cheat or something similar like say.. standing behind 2 pillars and shooting at something that can't reach you.
A backstab isn't an exploit either, it's a deliberate thing.

The control is in the players hands to do what they wish, they gave you options in case you became stuck and needed to become stronger. Those are there for you to use. I don't think exploiting is bad, you can gain an advantage by taking the higher ground, you can gain an advantage by upgrading your weapon to max. I'm just saying that all of these variables are here for you to use and you pick what you want to do, nothing is forcing you to do anything. I lured the bull into that fire :|
I thought it was expected since they do give you alluring skulls right above it lol Exploiting in a game is basically cheating, that's why I don't like the word for things that are put in the game on purpose lol

You can block and slash or you can move around and backstab. The 2nd is quicker and once you master it you can breeze through the majority of the game. It's a mechanic put in place for players to take advantage of if they need the extra damage to defeat the enemy. These options are put in place for you to use and you just decide how you want to play. Dat pig thing didn't stand a chance against my arrows! >:)
>_> I was scared at first though lol |
