With magic dmg gear though it still deals like 700+ so on mobs with MP its like a full MP heal with Burst Affinity.
Magic Hammer is one of the spells that magic damage+ greatly benefits due to its low D cap.
Tourbillion:
Take it for what you will but its looking like something is working. On a side note when unbridled wisdom is active it can hit for a decent amount of dmg. Sylph.Peldin

Sometimes I even throw in the odd thunderbolt for the fun of it and spam MP drainkiss to keep MP up. Valefor.Prothescar said: » Sylph.Peldin said: » Ah. Yeah I forgot spiral ring is good for that spell. How valuable is strength compared to dex and int for amorphic spikes being only 20% dex/int? Do you know/remember a ratio value for that? Like every 1.5 str will net you the same damage as 1 dex or int? 99% of spells have the same STR, DEX, VIT, INT, etc. modifier; i.e., QC is 32% 32%. Therefor, from a base damage standpoint, each modifier of a spell has the same impact on your base damage when added in equal amounts. However, STR has a couple of minor advantages: 1) It contributes to fSTR, assuming you are not capped, giving you a few extra points of bonus D 2) Every 2 STR = 1 blue magic attack The second modifier of a spell should still be put on whenever possible. For example, if you're gearing for Delta Thrust and have two theoretical pairs of pants: one has 50STR, the other has 39STR 29VIT, you want to wear the second pair of pants. If the spell does not have a STR modifier, like Amorphics Spikes as you mentioned, it would not really be worth focusing on STR at all, but getting some in there along with WSC for the extra attack when possible doesn't hurt. With the way that gear works these days, it's pretty difficult not to have STR and all of your WSC modifiers covered anyway. Amorphic Spikes - I use Refraction Cape until I can get Cornflower to drop. Delta Thrust - I use Terrasoul and Spiral rings. Heavy Strike - Even though it's got a really high strength mod, I don't use the same gear that I would for Quadrastrike or Empty Thrash. Not sure if I'm going overboard, but I have +accuracy in almost every slot for this set, including the visible pieces. Like Letalis Mantle, Honed Tathlum, Ej Necklace +1, Manibozho stuff, etc. Sylph.Peldin

Prothescar,
For Sanguine Blade, is Wanion Belt an ok alternative to Penitent's Rope if I'm trying to conserve inventory, or is -5 MND going to hurt me more than the STR and INT help? Also, I can't remember how blue magic skill affects physical spell damage. It's been a year since I looked at it. Didn't it have something to do with being in increments (like occultation gives an extra shadow in increments of 50)? For spellcast, I have STR, STR/DEX, and STR/VIT sets that encompass multiple spells. Just curious how I should use Mavi Tathlum and Cornflower Cape in these sets as opposed to Cheruski Needle and Buquwik Cape. if you're carrying penitents solely for sanguine blade, I'd take the marginal loss for inventory +1.

Thanks Jassik. Any thoughts about the ammo and back situtation (editted my post after you responded)?
Also wanted to add in a few suggestions for the Idle set: - Stearc Subligar through the Abyssea quest can get +1 Refresh augment (trade movement speed for refresh) - Wiglen Gorget gives +3 regen (trade MDT for regen) - Paguroidea Ring gives +2 regen (trade PDT/MDT for regen) - Sheltered Ring gives +1 regen (trade PDT/MDT for regen and better prot/shell) - Wivre Hairpin aug'd with refresh gives same refresh as NQ Spurrina Coif (an't nobody got time for HQ!) i am honestly not sure, it really depends on your other gear, since sometimes increasing the damage through mab will yield more hp returned than the mod.
as far as idle, i generally just kept w.legs and threw on subligar if mp was an issue. unless you're spamming spells, mp shouldn't be a big concern. regen/refresh in any slot you've got it for. For Idle, I believe the max you can get is 6 MP and 7 HP per tick.
At least, that's how I idle. Wivre Hairpin Hag. Coat Serpentines gloves/feet Stearc Subligar Wiglen Gorget Pagurodea Ring Sheltered Ring Moonshade Earring Unless I'm missing something that is. I would like to know so I can upgrade my idle set. BTW, that's gear idle, not including any traits you may or may not have either. hq coif is 2 per tick refresh, and refresh moonshade is for mage mules.
max refresh is 6 without moonshade, 2 head, 2 body, 1 legs, 1 hands/feet. also have access to 1 from trait and 3 from spell. Sylph.Peldin

Moonshade isn't really an option for refresh though. I mean yeah, you could list it in the idle gear, but it would be kinda silly considering it's already listed as the best WS earring for Requiescat.
What earrings do you use for Req anyway if your moonshade is aug'd with refresh? Bladeborn/Steelflash? Also, does anyone know the most ideal neck for Chain Affinity'd Amorphic Spikes or does everyone just stick with Ire Torque +1? I'm also thinking Thundersoul Rings are best for the ring slots. Probably some more gear I need to look through. Does anyone have an ideal Amorphic Spikes set? ItemSet 317183
This is the set I currently use for A.spikes and a few other physical spells, I use a different set for HS. It's not ideal but it works for me until I can get improvements. Sylph.Peldin said: » What earrings do you use for Req anyway if your moonshade is aug'd with refresh? Bladeborn/Steelflash? I have 3 other jobs that I use more often than BLU that uses Refresh Moonshade (as idle, or in the case of SMN, full time except during BPs). I only use Moonshade Refresh as an idle for BLU to help get mp back while running to the next kill. That is the whole point in that... Sylph.Peldin

Makes sense.
Oh, I should also point out that Boor Bracelets are best in slot for Glutinous Dart, Quadrastrike, Empty Thrash, and any other STR-only physical spell. Not really useful for anything else though concerning BLU, so inventory -1. However, it's 9 more strength than Assimilator's Bazubands +1 and double or more the strength of any other gloves. Been playing around with my spellcasts the last few days. I was wondering about Sudden Lunge set. Would anyone mind giving me some critique?
ItemSet 317218 I'm really just not sure which direction to go. Should I be using more accuracy or more magic accuracy? Let's assume my target is the highest level mob that sudden lunge can stun - Lower teir NMs in Delve maybe? if it's saying it fails to take effect, you need accuracy, but that will happen even if accuracy is capped. since it's added effect stun, if you're doing damage but it's not stunning, you need magic accuracy. again, you will get resists even at very high magic accuracy.
Hagondes hands, Iuitl legs and feet gives a decent chunk of MAcc and haste
So is the Spell Set for Dynamis truncated into the Solo Specialization spell set, or is that being re-adjusted to make use of some of the new spells?

You can actually stun Delve mega boss, I have stunned all three in Delve and you can do it about 5~6 times before they just outright resist. Afterwards you can rely on Temporal Shift if you *really* need to stun a mega boss but should have better SCH if that is the case. My set is similar to the one you posted but after the macc update to weapons I doubt you even need all that gear. The head you could use the new Assimilator's keffiyeh NQ/HQ for a good chunk of macc if its necessary. The JSE cape (cornflower cape) etc. I would focus more on Macc than acc because you should be in a DD party with a bard and receiving buffs anyways. The last CDC set in the guide got me a bit confused. It says the set is the second best so it is actually better than the second set in the list and since it is very easy to get espial set, would it not be better to simply replace that second set with the espial set?

I have a hard time imagining that set being better than brutal + moonshade. perhaps it wasn't intentional or maybe the set up he tested in ended up winning out. I dunno. Either way moonshade would still be best for req so it isn't like you can re-purpose it. Since it is impossible to have 2 Moonshade Earrings, it is up to the player to determine what is best for the character. So, considering that Moonshade is not an option for some, what would be a better solution for earring(s)? I believe it would be Bladeborn/Steelflash myself, but there ya go.
